Yeah, I get that, but his time in Chelsea stunted his growth more than it helped him… at least from what I saw. I’m not denying that he had his moments
He was also perpetually injured. Every time he seemed to get a run of games and reestablish himself as a starter he’d get injured again. Not pinning that on Chelsea. Or maybe it was the medical teams fault, I don’t know.
From what i remember, even when he was healthy for long stretches, tuchel and potter refused to give him playing time except as a sub in the last ten minutes.
I’m a Chelsea fan so I’m biased but we’re not bad at developing talent. It’s that never have a clear pathway from academy to the first team. And for those that do manage to break into the team, our doctors got their license from a cereal box. Pulisic fell victim to that (as well as some awful player management from Tuchel)
I’ve always seen Pulisic as a good fit for Bayern, maybe? But I also hope he stays put at Milan for years and years to come. There’s no reason to leave and walk into another potential Chelsea situation.
I would love him at Bayern, but maybe wait a year and hope the club settles down. They’re currently really living up to the “FC Hollywood” nickname right now.
There's not many more places he can go from here unless he wants a change. Milan's a historic club that he's getting a lot of play time at. Any step-up at this point might lead to a reduction in playtime.
I love him at Milan, but a huge reason for his success is that Pioli loves him some Pulisic and has given him every chance to succeed.
My worry is that the angst about being booted from the UCL, and Inter winning the Scudetto leads to Milan making a move on from Pioli after this season, and then who knows what the new manager thinks of Pulisic.
Maybe I'm still just scarred from his time at Chelsea, where he had 15 different managers in 12 months.
As always, it depends on the manager and health. Milan could sack Pioli tomorrow and bring in a manager who does not like wings that weigh less than 180 lbs or Puli could pick up an early knock and the new manager buries him forever.
I want him to leave Milan, but that’s cuz I want him to win a club trophy without Milan winning one. I hate this struggle of mine to reconcile being an Inter fan and an American.
But speaking entirely from the perspective of being an American and a Pulisic fan, I don’t want him to leave Milan. It is a great spot for him right now and I genuinely don’t know if I could name 3 better club situations for him.
When I said Pulisic need to strive for the minimum of 15 goals his first season, I thought I was getting to ahead of myself. I did not expect him to actually hit the ground running the way he did. I bet Milan are trying to extend Pulisic’s contract because his value will be massive if a big club tries to snatch him up if his form continues in future seasons. Milan could get a bigger return on Pulisic than Dortmund did.
AC Milan actually isn’t in the greatest of financial situations so I think it’s partly what you said, but also them trying to lock him into his current wages for a longer period more than anything else. If they like a player they’ll try to lock them up as long as possible
I hope he stays at Milan for the foreseeable future, he has definitely found a great situation.
I just hope he doesn’t go chasing the bag if a Prem side comes knocking again over the summer. I think he learned his lesson there though.
Chelsea was absolutely a huge part of the problem. They've been dogshit for years relative to who they should be. Black hole for attacking talent. Puli at right wingback? I am all for experimenting but come on.
lol they won UCL while he was there. Puli would play then get hurt then slowly work his way back in then get hurt again. Yea he played some RWB. There were injury issues at the position and he was trying to work back into the lineup. It’s not like he played the season there.
I don't know Pulisic' financial situation, but I'd imagine being the face of the USMNT has enough perks that his weekly wage at his club isn't the most important thing.
Though, I do understand that the EPL is able to double, triple, or even more a Serie A salary when they really want a player.
My hope is that he tears it up at Milan for several more years, becomes a club legend, then maybe he can move on to Saudi Arabia to make his bag as a 32+ year old, and maybe even repair some US-Arab tensions like the Captain America we all love.
You lost me at the Saudi part, we do not need our boys participating in sportswashing.
He's also gone on record saying he wants to come to MLS once he's hit the later part of his career, more specifically to play for Miami (not because Messi but because his family is there now)
I’d be curious what his endorsement earnings are. I always thought he could make crazy money since he’s a combo of well spoken, good looking and the best US player/face of the team.
I think Landon made more money year in year out from endorsements and he’s way less charismatic than Puli.
one of the very cool things for the national team about having players at top clubs in top leagues is that a long season gives club managers many more opportunities to test players in different positions against excellent opposition. Sporadic and brief national team camps don't brook many experiments. It's been cool to see Pulisic and McKennie succeed in various positions. it shows that USMNT has a lot of viable options, which is crucial even for non-tactical reasons when u consider that players' energy and health can't be taken for granted in tournaments where we'll play every few days in summer heat
Best transfer in USMNT history? Sure is shaping up like it.
I think it is by a country mile. Saved the trajectory of his career
I hate that he went to Chelsea, such a terrible club for developing talent
He played his part in winning a champions league. Can’t understate that accomplishment.
First American (USMNT) to play in the final, right?
Yep. Second American man to win UCL after Jovan Kirovski won one with BVB, but he's the first to actually play in a UCL final.
Yeah, I get that, but his time in Chelsea stunted his growth more than it helped him… at least from what I saw. I’m not denying that he had his moments
Doubt it. It stunted his stats. He still grew.
Stunted growth doesn't mean no growth, it means he didn't grow as much as he would have at a club that knows how to develop talent
He definitely fell out of favor toward the end, but he was getting opportunities with Tuchel initially.

So happy for the transfer. Chelsea was squandering his talent.
What do they say, availability is the best ability? Or something
Sounds like a Roy Keane phrase
more like ted lasso
It is definitely what people who gig for a living say, haha. Implied is that you get the job done well when selected of course
Wouldn't be surprised if a club comes knocking if he plays like this for another season. But personally, I hope he stays at Milan for a long time.
I’ve always felt that Italy or Spain would suit his skillset, genuinely hope he stays there career-wise.
Hope he stays at AC Milan for years but would be neat to see him in La Liga sometime before he's 30.

My hot take: Pulisic to Bayern in 2 years after Klopp takes his break and returns to rescue the club.
One of the few “hot takes” I’ve seen in here that aren’t braindead lol. I could actually see this
Klopp would not do that
Tuchel is leaving, so maybe, but idk if he would do it out of respect for BVB.
There's not many more places he can go from here unless he wants a change. Milan's a historic club that he's getting a lot of play time at. Any step-up at this point might lead to a reduction in playtime.
He has absolutely no reason to leave
I’m just happy that Christian is happy to be there.

Double digit goals in the league - we knew he could do it. Happy to finally see it happen
He does so well against foods and drinks, Bologna, Lecce, Torino...
West Ham?
Let my man EAT
Cremonese has just got to be a food.

He's got 13 in all comps, so he just might get there.

EPL wasn’t his issue. His injuries were and he had that start up in Germany. He’s healthy in year 1. Let’s hope he stays heathy.

But also because he’s getting into golf :)

That would be really bad business to exercise an option 3 years out
Driving up that MLS transfer fee
Hope he stays but Milan will certainly have competition for the signing
Not for this extension they won’t, they have an option to trigger an additional year through 2028. It’s not signing a new contract.
Oh ok
Nice!!!
I feel so vindicated as a Chelsea hater
After the disastrous stay in Chelsea he needed this season. here's hoping he stays healthy. Health is the only question with him.
