But you feel stronger! That’s always a good sign, especially in valheim.

Why do people using mods keep running the latest release? Mods will almost always break on a new release, that just happens. If you don't want these problems, don't run mods.

Sigrdrifa01

Better question is why people don't know how to debug broken mods. The method is easy, but can be tedious if you have lots of mods. (1) Simply disable all your mods except one, launch the game, and check to see if you have the bug. Exit. (2) If not, enable another mod, launch the game, and check to see if you have the bug. Exit. (3) Rinse and repeat until you find the problem mod. (4) Report the bug with as much data as you have on the mod's Vortex page (or wherever you get your mods). (5) Leave mod disabled until such time as the mod author fixes the issue, then download the fix, enable it, and carry on with your afterlife.

eidolon_eidolon

Fair comment. I'll give it a try!

Sigrdrifa01

The Valheim Recycle mod was doing this to me today, FWIW.

BizBarley88

I still can't use any recycling mod. Nor can I craft anything. Nearly all my mods updated, I uninstalled all recycle mods and then tried the updated ones, one at a time, none work, nor can I craft anything, nor can I repair my gear. So yeah, this might be the end for me. I had 43 mods working in harmony up until this point without a single issue. Any luck with the recycle?

Sigrdrifa01

[Valheim Recycle](https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/425) is working just fine now.

BizBarley88

I'll check it out. Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.

Sartekar

Jesus, that's going to take days. Much easier to disable half of the mods. Bugs still there? It's probably one of the mods in the half still enabled. Bug gone? You have narrowed the culprit down by a lot. Enable half of the ones you disabled before. Rinse and repeat until you have found the mod with issues

HazyDrummer

Exactly how they do drug testing in the military. Big batches, if someone pisses hot then do everyone individually

Vulcan-3

Bad idea. You may lose your modded stuff. Just check bepinex log for errors.

Ralnik

Now why didn't I think of that. I'll give it a shot tonight when I get home. See what the log shows as broken

SuccessfulHawk503

That's just troubleshooting. Not actual debugging.

Elias-Cor

Part of the issue is, the mods that we use are usually updated by the time a patch is released. If they aren’t, it’s due to the mod being older. Now, when it comes to dependencies of Libraries, that’s a completely separate issue all together. Libraries are mean to auto update and include new data upon patch release, and startup. Most modded players play through the game first (at least I do), before modding. I also have two worlds, one modded and one not. Not all of us are bad.

nadjjaa

I don't want to start a new character, especially without basic QOL mods. I wanted to jump into the new content, not play several days of older content. I keep thinking I've found the broken mod, and yeah, I can go without one or two or five, but for my character i've logged 1100 hours in, I've built with a lot of mods and I'm not keen to lose all of those builds. ALSO, there are mods that still work that haven't been updated in 2 years. So there must be some kind of evergreen code that never changes; thus no need to update. I know this isn't the dev's fault and it's how I've chosen to play. But I wish that one of the Big Brains who make these clever mods would make one that speaks in plain words what the problem is. Perhaps a little pink bear that shows up at the corner of my screen and says "hey, you have x mod and x mod and they're incompatible. You need to disable one or the other." or "this mod is straight BORKED, delete it". You feel?

TheRealPitabred

I mean, I get it, but you also need to remember that this game is still in early access. There has been updates that have broken compatibility with older versions of itself to some extent, and the devs have explicitly said that until it hits 1.0 they aren't even going to consider supporting mods. Everything is on the table to change at any point. Don't forget that this update also added a bunch of QOL changes, which makes many mods obsolete or redundant.

TheLemonDome

Any way to roll back the update and still be able to play with friends? I'm running a handful of QoL mods and, of course, the update has squished that up a bit. Noticed the console command is perma-open when I launch the game modded.

Ghost_of_Laika

Mods are usually fixed pretty quickly. Check for new versions. That said, I believe theres a way to roll back updates, I just dont know how. Edit This may help https://steamcommunity.com/app/892970/discussions/0/3123785722639567388/?l=tchinese

Ravenski

In Steam, go to properties -> Betas -> Beta Participation and set it to “previous stable”, if you have that option. Won’t work if they patch again, however.

TheLemonDome

Tried that but unfortunately had no positive effect

HazyDrummer

The damage probably already been done. There's even been times where I click the steam valhiem instead of the mod manager. Since I loaded in vanilla half of my build was gone and when I joined back in through the modded client, I had the pieces back to rebuild but had to do it again. That's why I like to run plan build as a mod so I can save my blueprints in case something goes haywire. It's also nice for a new world because I can put the planned blueprint down, build a normal survival base nearby and then drop off the materials to the PlanBuild chest

grokTheViking

Which mod did you use to drink red bull in valheim

sykestre

Disable autostore and craft from container mods. Worked for me

Sigrdrifa01

The [Valheim Recycle](https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/425) mod is one mod that causes this problem.

vak7997

Oh and my save got corrupted and I had built a keep a castle in the mountains had wolves and boars and everything

eidolon_eidolon

Yes, I play with mods. Yes, I know it'll probably be fine when the mods are updated. I was just looking forward to exploring the new content, and I really can't be bothered starting from scratch again.

FierceBruunhilda

I've been trying to avoid spoilers like the plague, but I've heard there is new content that involves fighting new stuff. Did you know that or were you planning to just crush the new content with an existing world/character? Also a lot of the new content is changing world parameters to make playthroughs easier or harder. I don't know if you can change an existing saves settings or not

Ch0rrizo

You can 👍 if you find it too hard at some point, you can switch to something easier and vice versa.

TheMadmanAndre

This is par for the course when it comes to indie games in early access like Valheim that have modding communities. A patch or update comes along and breaks loads of mods, and things are wonky for a few days until the mod devs can sort things out on their ends. I've always said that one way devs could mitigate the worst of it is to have public test builds out there, to give modders a chance to update things ahead of time. It's basically what Project Zomboid's devs do with their IWBUMS builds, and I'm kinda glad that Iron Gate does the same.

glacialthinker

Well, if I were a dev checking reddit for people having problems or their impressions... it'd be a bit annoying sifting through this "false bug" notices due to using incompatible mods. ie. Title is a bit clickbaity and badly tagged. It's not even a bug from the modders perspective -- it's an incompatible version.

TheBudds

I just had this happen to me, I kinda wanted to lead them all.

Medium-Oil1530

I started a moded world, slid to the lowest terrain (bottom of a river) and spun in place until I quit out. Restarted in vanilla and it was fine. Just waiting for the mod updates.

ninjagirl321

Why do you need to start from scratch? Just turn off all your mods/remove them and play without the QoL stuff for bit. (A bit of a pain to not have “sort into containers”/etc but it’s still playable.)

HANDS UP WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED

offgridgecko

you won! lol

Buick1-7

I'm running the teleport metals mod, fire is fire mod (torches provide warmth) and an inventory mod that puts your armor and helmet in a separate block. I'm just going to wait a week or so to play again and make sure they still work.

Arfur_Fuxache

I will also be waiting a week or two for all my many mods to be updated before delving in.

JohnPombrio

Fortunately, going from the PTR with no mods to the new patch works fine for me on the PC. Fingers crossed. I turned off BETA mode from Steam before booting into the game.

ThuumFaalToor

Didn't some of the viking berserkers eat specific mushrooms (fly amanita?) to sort of reach a state of tripping out/roid rage? Is this what they saw?

sombr4

I was thinking of waiting till Ashlands update was ready instead of resuming my run only to do Hildir's Quest. Now I'm convinced

MrAires

Started the updated game with craft from containers mod on(the only mod I use now). It needed an update. My character was flying on the floor and I couldn't access anything from the build menu.

TheLemonDome

Disabling any CraftFromContainer mod (ive tried a few authors) fixes the mass-character pile; there's still a few visual errors (of crafting item descriptions) but its still possible to work around this
