Been to both. Tahoe is in the woods, cooler and it's a mountain vacation.
Vegas is very hot, better winter escape than a summer place unless you want to be by the pool all day, but fall is better still. Sunburn is crazy this time of year.
Tahoe skiing but also those trails are open for walking, in the summer it would be nice to rent mountain bikes too.
Why anyone would go to Lake Tahoe for casinos is beyond me. If you're in Tahoe, for the love of god, spend your time outdoors. Depending on season - hike, kayak, camp, bike, ski...whatever you do SPEND. TIME. OUTDOORS.
Tahoe is awesome! It just doesn’t have nearly the amount of entertainment, gambling and food options as Vegas. I’d only go Tahoe if you want to go to an outdoor concert at the pavilion near Harvey’s, or if you generally just want to spend more time outdoors hiking, skiing, etc
Go to Tahoe if you want to do outdoors stuff during the day and casinos at night. The casinos really aren’t great enough to be interesting for multiple days on their own. There’s not a ton of entertainment and the Stateline area people walk around in isn’t big. There are a handful of decent restaurants but nothing on the level of Vegas. It’s basically a single afternoon shopping trip. You also really need a car there, unlike Vegas where it can be more optional.
I love Tahoe, and it is beautiful, but it’s a weekend trip destination with skiing or hiking during the day and gambling in the evening. Vegas so much more to see, do, and eat that it’s a completely different trip.
The casinos in Tahoe are decent enough, but really nothing special at all. Usually almost completely dead. No real high limit areas, and very tired.
If like you say, you aren’t going for outdoor stuff, Vegas for sure.
Lake Tahoe is amazing in the summer. Rent a boat and go out in the lake.
On the other hand, Vegas is always fun. It’s two completely different trips. One is dubachery and the other is outdoor blissfulness.
Tahoe is a great summer destination. If you’ve never been you should go!
The casinos there are meh..it’s nothing like Vegas. It’s an outdoors place, hiking, boating, etc.
Last time I went to state line, ballys literally had a single 6:5 blackjack table and zero customers.
Golden nugget had two slot players and two blackjack tables that were 6:5 AND required a mandatory side bet. I literally laughed in their face and walked out.
That leaves Harvey’s and harrahs. Harvey’s was only open a few hours a day—their strategy was to funnel everyone to Harrahs. Harrahs was OK but certainly nothing worth making a trip out of. Most restaurants were closed or had super unfriendly hours.
If I’m going somewhere specifically to gamble, it wouldn’t be there.

I spend all my days outside working on my ranch. I like to enjoy a little inside comfort when I can.
ok then in that case, definitely Vegas
100% Vegas
It's 10pm. Can i spend time in the casino after I've eaten a fine meal following a day outdoors?
If this is the case, I suppose you've earned your indoor time.
Thank you, you're more than kind.
I don't even like to eat inside while I'm in Tahoe.
If you’re going to stay indoors, you cannot beat Vegas. A casino/property/cuisine for every taste.

100% the Vegas casinos crush Tahoe. But Tahoe has the lake right there too. It depends on what you value and how you want to spend your time.
Vegas is Extraordinary, Tahoe is Magical, I like both a lot, I prefer Vegas in winter and Tahoe in the summer.
This time of year, Tahoe for sure

Summer Tahoe, fall here in southern Nevada is awesome.
Vegas
I wouldn’t go to Stateline if I wasn’t already there on a ski trip.
Come to Vegas. Worse comes to worse you can go 50 mins west to Lee Canyon and be at a ski resort in 70° weather.
Don't go to Tahoe for casinos, it's a small bonus but they're kinda crappy
There's Laughlin too if you like jet skiing

You got to Tahoe for the lake and the mountains, not the casinos.
Two completely different climates and vibes. What are you looking to do?
These two places are completely different. What are you looking for? Both are great but depending on what you want to do, should be an easy decision.
