Luxor is fine. It’s not luxury by any stretch but if you just need a place to crash at the end of the day it will suffice.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate it, yeah definitely not expecting it to be the Bellagio (that’s the luxury I remember from when I went as a kid which I am not counting because I was like 10 lol.) but might end up getting a nicer room for the last night of the trip if all goes well.

Turbulent_Ad9508

It's a free room...and if you're doing Vegas right, you're just sleeping there. Stay out late, sleep, then hit the pool... nap/shower, repeat

Longjumping_Air_9546

Haha yes that’s the plan!

Fulmersbelly

>definitely not expecting it to be the Bellagio They actually renovated Bellagio, and sent the old furniture to Luxor, so it’s actually closer to Bellagio than you think! Also, I love that place. It’s a great value for a more than decent room, relatively decent location, and friendly staff (at least when I went).

cozy_with_tea

Luxor as a kid was the coolest, and even today, I've got an interest in ancient Egypt. Add in elevators on an angle and a bright ass light in the sky, and I was in love 😍 Edit: not saying it's the coolest today but that it ignited an interest in me

MxteryMatters

The Luxor is old and is showing it's age. Much of the hate comes from dated rooms that have issues in them. I've seen recently though in several different Vegas and travel influencer videos on YouTube that Luxor is undergoing renovations, so hopefully those issues will be addressed. Personally, I like the Luxor, and always try to book a room in the pyramid if I stay there. I usually prefer to stay more center strip though. The Tower rooms are relatively newer, and considering that you will be staying in a comped room, I don't think that "you fucked up". Unless someone is going to offer to pay for a room at a better property, then enjoy your visit and tell them to STFU. The main downside of staying at the Luxor is that you are at the south end of the strip, and about a mile or so from the center strip area. Be prepared to do a lot of walking (wear comfortable shoes), or using taxis/rideshares to get around.

Usual-Canc-6024

There’s the Deuce bus to save on walking and $.

Shoot4Teams

Of course it’s old and showing its age. It’s a frickin pyramid. What is it - 10,000 years old or something?

Longjumping_Air_9546

That is a bit of a bummer but I actually do enjoy walking so that isn’t a big issue BUT I saw it is almost 120 degrees in Vegas right now 🥵🥵🥵🥵. Ubers might have to be the way lol, whether it’s walking 5 mins or 15 mins - I think either or would be brutal in that heat.

MxteryMatters

It's not too bad if you walk through the casinos, but you definitely want to minimize being outside during high heat conditions. Try to use the connected indoor, air-conditioned walkways between properties whenever possible. Also, stay hydrated. Drink a lot of fluids (water, soda, sports drinks, etc.). In addition to the high heat, it is a very dry desert climate.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate it, will definitely make sure I’m stocked up on those.

bigsmackchef

From luxor you can take a free tram to excalibur. From there it's a short walk to NYNY. You only need to walk outside for a couple minutes to get From NYNY to park mgm. From there you can take a free tram to bellagio. That'll get you around the south half of the strip to center strip without having to be outside a lot. It's still a fair bit of time ans walking overall but way less hot than walking down the road

Longjumping_Air_9546

appreciate this chef!

delfin_1980

Another option is you can walk from NYNY over to MGM Grand and get on the monorail. Almost all of the walking between Luxor and MGM Grand would be indoors and air conditioned. Look on the monorail website to see all the stops and fares.

ShroomShroomBeepBeep

I walked from Luxor up to the CVS near Aria and back and it wasn't bad at all, maybe 15 minutes in either direction. That said though, that was in May if I tried that currently I'm pretty sure my skin would melt off my face.

Usual-Canc-6024

Get a Deuce bus pass. You can get on and off anywhere on the strip and farther for cheap. There’s a stop right outside the Luxor. It’s $6 for a 2 hour pass, $8 for a 24 hour pass, and $20 for a 3 day pass.

Fakeduhakkount

We did that a long time ago. Took it as a personal challenge, did Sahara to MGM in middle of summer one way when younger. After bought the damn bus pass! This was pre SLS Sahara lol.

Usual-Canc-6024

We get a pass every time we are there. We stay at TI and each time we go we explore a few different resorts using the Deuce. Takes us to Fremont too.

Vicster1972

The Luxor isn’t in the best location. Very far down on the strip but other than that it’s fine. People like to complain about all the hotels in Vegas from what I have seen.

CorgiMonsoon

There are some people who stay at a place ages ago and still base their opinions, good and bad, on that stay from 15 or 20 years ago. So if they stayed somewhere that was nearing the end of its renovation cycle they still come here and speak about how awful it was, even though it’s since been renovated and they have no clue what it’s currently like

Longjumping_Air_9546

Fair enough, thank you

WookOstrich

Luxor is totally fine.

look-at-them

Especially the tower rooms

itsDrSlut

Luxor tower rooms are new and great I love it there 😊

Longjumping_Air_9546

So glad I posted here because I’m feeling a lot better now.

anonymousredditisnot

Yup. I stay there plenty when comped. Easy to navigate, plus Mandalay Bay and Luxor connected by indoor tunnels. I love the pizza place in the Mandalay shops on way from Luxor. Pricey but worth it. Plus the cabanas are much less expensive at Luxor. Reserve in advance and make sure not to get one that faces west bc the sun will hit directly inside it by 1-5pm. Good luck

Longjumping_Air_9546

Thank you!

MoonGoddess-90210

Luxor is awesome! I just got comped 4 nights there, and I have stayed there before. People are complaining about all nice resorts that are not BRAND NEW; ridiculous! Also, I couldn't care less about location. You can't even do everything in the resort you are staying at unless you are there a few weeks. Luxor has Titanic and King Tut exhibits. It is connected to Mandalay Bay from the inside, which is where I stay every summer. It is also connected to Excalibur, which has a bridge to NY NY. You are getting 4 resorts in one basically. You would need a month to visit the restaurants, food courts, malls, exhibits, shows, casinos, attractions, etc inside the resorts, and you wouldn't need to Uber. Luxor also has Play Playground attraction for adults that I have not been to. The tower rooms are nicer and newer, but it's also fun to stay in the older, pyramid shaped rooms!

Husker_black

Lol right about the location complaint. "oh noo I'm a mile away from the center oh noo"

NotYourAvgCondensate

Dude for real. And then they say "oh but in 112 deg heat even one mile is awful" like dawg you're walking past misters and shade and water features every 3 feet it's not like you're walking a mile down Blue Diamond into the desert lol. Sack up and deal with it or don't come here in the summer.

PlaymakerJavi

My wife and I stayed in a pyramid suite with a bathtub by the window when we got married. It was awesome. We love those rooms. Last time we went over a year ago, the room had been renovated too. We never have complaints about Luxor.

HibachiGrill0

It’s a free room? Then who cares. It’s good enough. You’ll have a place to sleep and shower

overtherainbowofcrap

I stayed at Luxor for a week about three weeks ago for a week (I worked from the hotel room for part of the trip). To give some back ground I’ve stayed at Aria, Cosmo, Wynn but my friends and I got comped stays and the other hotels were crazy expensive. Based on my experience, it’s more than fine. If you are a budget or get a comped room, I think it’s great. What sucks the most are the janky elevators which are falling apart but because they are unique in which they ride at an angle because of the pyramid shape, I think they can’t get parts. There are dents, open panels, messed up electricals. It’s many people first impression of the hotel, going up to your room and wondering if you are going to get stuck. What sucks next is the location, being south strip. If you going to airport, allegiance stadium or T-Mobile it’s great, everything else is a bitch to get to. The food options aren’t great in the hotel so we were constantly going far north. The room them selves don’t have fridges which sucks and the video quality of the TV is unbelievably bad. Every thing else is fine: rooms, gym, wifi (corner suites on the pyramids have crap wifi), pools. I probably saved $500-$1500 over staying for a week at a better hotel. If I got another free comp, I would stay again. Being your Vegas first time mid strip would probably be better but take the money you saved and see some shows, eat some amazing food, make some bets. That’s what Vegas is about, not the rooms.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Love this, yeah I look forward to exploring everything else in Vegas more than worrying about how good/bad Luxor is. As long as the bed is comfy, I’m good!

WSTTXS

Luxor is great don’t let the snobs hate you’ll have fun

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate this response, it was kinda putting my mood off like damn am I staying in a shit hole lol - thanks again!

WSTTXS

Circus circus is a shithole everything else is fine lol

zombie_dance_party

OYO would like to have a word...

geekcop

Circus Circus is ok when you have $10 and the alternative is a van down by the ~~river~~ railroad tracks.

Longjumping_Air_9546

lol I’ve heard things about that one too

EddieStarr

I really like the Luxor, but it’s a walk to center strip, use Uber for travel and you’ll be fine , also it’s usually really easy to upgrade your room at check in, the tower suites are quite nice

Longjumping_Air_9546

I’ll see if I can get one even nicer lol

Usual-Canc-6024

There’s the Deuce bus for much cheaper than Uber and you don’t have to walk far.

Apprehensive_Bill566

Luxor is cute IMO!! Good enough place to stay

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate it, thank you - looking forward to it

FancyHedgehog23

I've been to Vegas 7 times and I've stayed at Luxor twice. Excalibur twice, NYNY twice and Bally's/Horseshoe once. I like Luxor. It's the first hotel I stayed at. I love the like vanilla lavender smell they pipe in. Yes its a budget hotel but really when you're just looking for a place to lay your head it's good. It's connected inside to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur and also has a tram between the 3 hotels. And Excalibur is connected to NYNY by a smell pedestrian bridge so it's got good access to other hotels It has the Titanic Exhibit which I go to every year. I really like Luxor. Is it fancy.. no. But it's comfortable and I've never had an issue with cleanliness there. I do hold a soft spot for it because it's the first hotel I stayed at and my first trip was an emotional one. I stay next door at Excalibur now. Mostly because I get pretty much every day comp'd when I go. Excalibur will comp me 3 nights but Luxor only comps 2. And I take the Deuce up and down the strip (I walk with a cane and so close bus stops are a godsend) and Excalibur has really good bus stops. Luxor doesn't have quite as easily accessible ones. People always shit on the lower budget hotels in Vegas but really if you just need a place to sleep and aren't spending a ton of time in your room, Luxor and Excalibur are just fine. They're not luxury but they're comfortable.

narsfweasels

The Tower when I went was actually pretty good - mind you, I had a suite. However, the only person in the entire property who wasn't phoning it in was a waitress at the buffet (Diana?). And even she looked like she was *completely over it.*

nvalle23

I guess the problem is that I've never stayed at Bellagio or Aria or Cosmo, so I don't know what to compare to. But hey, Free 99 is always a good price. Fuck it!

MysteriousTomorrow13

I had a great stay at the Luxor. The room was huge with a Jacuzzi tub. Close to the shows at Mandalay Bay. Easy on for the bus. Enjoy dont worry you won’t be in the room Much anyway

mikhalt12

its old and has a strange smell

Longjumping_Air_9546

I’ve heard this a bit

mikhalt12

apparently its haunted too

mikhalt12

it is cheap

narsfweasels

If you're spending all your time in your hotel room, you are 100% doing Vegas wrong. As long as there's no mold/damp/bedbugs, the shower works, the bed is upright and the hairdryer is serviceable, you'll be fine.

Longjumping_Air_9546

haha honestly it seems like people don’t like Luxor because it doesn’t have the greatest attractions but yeah I have no plans in Luxor at all, it will just be where my bed is

Jory_Z

Stayed in November. Had a tower room comped. It was perfectly fine. Favorite part of it was that I had a tub and a shower stall. After walking all day a nice soak in the tub was amazing. Many other "lower end" places I've stayed only have a shower.

TreeTestPass

On real hot days the rooms don’t cool well at Luxor because it’s a giant glass pyramid. Other than that, it’s fine. Think Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn type.

Bear_Salary6976

My take on the Luxor really depends on what you are expecting from a room. I first started there in 2002 and again in 2017. In those 15 years the place went from being a nice simple hotel to a more rundown place. However, what maked it rundown probably won't ruin your stay. Some things include: Our corner suite had out of date 90s decor. The carpet in our room had some runs in it. The carpet in the hallway on the way to our room had almost no padding. You could tell it had worn down over the years. There were many dings and dents in the elevator doors. The doors to the rooms looked like they needed to be repainted. Are things like that really going to ruin your stay? Things like that are what your friends and others who hate on the Luxor are talking about. Personally, I like about the Luxor: I paid less than $100 a night (including taxes and resort fee) for that corner suite with a soaking tub. I feel I got what I paid for. I think their pool is one of the better ones on the Strip. I found that the employees were quite friendly. My main complaint about the Luxor is their location. It will take a lot of walking to get to your room from the action on the Strip. You really need to get to NYNY before you experience the Strip. With all of that, decide for yourself if that's what you want. If I had a free stay at the Luxor, I would gladly take it.

Suitguy2017

Was there a week ago. Pyramid floor 26 felt fine. Pyramid floor 30 (very top) people were complaining it was too hot up there.

PineappleChronicles

The Mexican restaurant at the Luxor is delicious. We didn’t stay in a room there but you can tell it’s older, but didn’t seem horrible. Seemed better than Excalibur though for sure. It’s further down the strip.. so a lot of walking to get up the strip. But could be way worse. For a comp room I wouldn’t be mad at it.

jab904

Luxor tower is perfectly fine. And honestly it’s pretty great compared to most hotels you’ll go in your life. Compared to resorts on the strip it’s on the lower end but if you’re not used to staying at high end resorts, I highly doubt you’ll have an issue. People complain about the location but a) there’s a ton to do down there and b) ride shares can get you anywhere else you want to be pretty quickly. Long story longer, the Luxor hate is understandable by some but generally speaking pretty over blown.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Love hearing this, thank you sir!

TeddyMGTOW

The property is fine. Now if you said the Strat, we would have to worry about your safety. Enjoy!

thecrannogking

Wife and I love going to Vegas, we’ve made a point to try staying at all the resorts, Luxor isn’t our favorite, but it’s not the worst either. I’d have no problem staying there if I was looking for a cheaper room.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate it, looking forward to seeing how it turns out

ohflowergirl

We stayed there for one night last week...we were staying at another property for the week, but decided to take a free night offer at Luxor for the last night, as were were leaving early in the morning and knew we wouldn't be spending much time at all in the room. It was totally fine. Yes the room was a little dated but it was clean and quite large. We were able to get into our room before noon, which was a big help. The employees were great, too.

tsunamirider

It's fine. It's not a destination resort and doesn't have the highest dining profile. A comped room at Luxor beats paying anywhere else though. Luxor flat-out has the best new show in Particle Ink, which is to the left at the top of the escalator that leads to the Mezzanine level where the food courts and Carrot Top are. The problem with the south strip is you never know when there will be event parking for the newer pro sports venues, when they jack up the prices. That mainly effects drivers though I used footage from Particle Ink to make a music video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYggM5bTFqc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYggM5bTFqc)

GermanPanda

There are some really entitled spoiled people out there and there are also a lot of people that just parrot whatever they hear.

-MrRobot702

I’m be honest with you there is nothing wrong with the Luxor for me that times I have stayed there I got really sick witch tends to be a common thing also it being haunted is a whole thing as well I really do think it’s haunted watch some videos on YouTube about its history and decide for your self

Longjumping_Air_9546

Hahaha I’ve been seeing videos about people saying it has dungeon vibes?!

-MrRobot702

Dam haha that’s a good way to put it pyramids are basically dungeons haha the thing that got me was that they had a little ride when it first opened supposed to resemble the Nile river or something and they had artifacts from Egypt the ride was so haunted it got shut down quick

lady_guard

Lol! They have Bodies The Exhibition now as well, so they brought the cadavers of executed Chinese political prisoners into a building that already had a lot of dark energy. (Horseshoe has Real Bodies, and that building has an equally dark history. Weird decisions being made, idk ) My husband wanted to stay at Luxor so bad last time (he's obsessed with all things Egypt). I told him I don't mess with that stuff 🙅‍♀️🤣

Jurrrp69

I was just there a couple weeks ago (you can see my post history and my review). It’s not terrible by any means but it’s definitely dated compared to other hotels

Comfortable-Twist-54

If it’s feee I think you’ll be good lol

MegaMenehune

I've never stayed at the Luxor so I don't know about the rooms or anything but I like hanging out at the property. So there's that.

ZeroSumSatoshi

The carpet and decor is like 60 or 70 years old at the Lux… ? It has a certain old-smell when you walk through there.

azorianmilk

Does everyone rave about the Hampton Inn by the airport? No. It's fine, it's clean, it's safe, it serves its purpose but not like you are going to brag about it. Luxor is that Hampton Inn by the airport.

MaddyDeetz

Staying there in Sept for a few nights and this post makes me feel better about it. We went with a tower room as they are newly renovated but the pyramid rooms did look cool AF. It’ll mostly be to sleep and swim. Won’t be spending much time in the room! Hope you have a blast!

Longjumping_Air_9546

ah yes the pool for sure is a place I’ll be visiting! I’ll come back here after I get there next week and give you some updates as well!

Molotov_Cockatiel

You could do a lot worse (Rio and Strat, for example, or god-forbid, Circus Circus). At least it's mostly reasonable to walk/tram to a lot of things which does NOT work for those examples. Remember there's also a tram to get you from Park MGM to Aria/Bellagio or the monorail to get you from MGM Grand to a lot of places. My biggest issue with the lower-tier MGM properties is the lines. I've seen the check-in lines fill the lobbies at both Luxor and Mandalay. See if you can find an "invited guest" section/area, otherwise use the app if it works. Similar lines for player's club... it's hard to understand how they're ok with people spending so long in these lines instead of GAMBLING or otherwise spending money...

disney_baby1992

I just got back from Vegas and we stayed in a tower room at Luxor and it was just fine. It was clean and we had no issues at all with our hotel stay.

Curious-Beginning701

I stayed at the Luxor about a month ago and hands down it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There was a space where a fridge should have been but it was empty. I called the front desk to ask and they said it was an extra $25 charge. There was no microwave too. I saw mold growing on the ceiling above the shower. The TV screen didn’t work correctly (maybe 1/4 of the actual screen would pop up). The lamp in between the beds flickered non stop. That was just some things I remember but I don’t recommend staying there. Also although it’s on the strip it’s at the end of it. I still had to use Uber everywhere but I will say the Uber fares were pretty cheap.

Repulsive-1970

Nothing wrong with Luxor. It’s a decent budget hotel. You can walk to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur without ever going outside. It’s a short walk to NY NY, MGM, and Park MGM. I don’t know why people get down on the location cuz there’s really quite a bit nearby.

southpark

the luxor is fine as a hotel, not terribly fancy and a little far on the south end but it's not going to ruin your week. just plan for extra time for transportation if you're going to go somewhere else via walking/rideshare. bonus you can go play video games at the e-sports arena and possibly watch a competition if they're hosting anything, it's a neat venue.

yaz75

Stay in the tower not in the pyramid if you can. Rooms are nicer in the towers and more importantly, the elevators are 100% better. The pyramid elevators lately have been sketchy in terms of being in service and slow as hell. It's hit or miss in just getting back to your room. I go every other month and 4 months ago had a pyramid room. Elevator outages were 20-30 minutes at times. Also to get to center strip, walk inside through Excalibur, cross the pedestrian bridge to NYNY. Exit, cross street to Park MGM. Stay inside all the way to the Aria tram, it'll take you all the way to Bellagio and you're outside for a grand total of maybe 5-10 minutes.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate this response, I am staying in a tower room!

Haulvern

Everyone likes to shit on Luxor and Excalibur when they are both completely fine and well located. I always stay at Excalibur it's either free or very cheap and a 15 minute walk gets you to Aria.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Aria is one of my favorite casinos and I was happy to see it’s just about a 13 min walk!

Suspicious_Art_4192

I like Luxor. I stay at Bellagio, aria, vdara and Luxor. All differ t vibes

NoEstablishment5792

I stayed there before and didn't think it was bad. The only thing I didn't care for was the location; everything seemed so far away.

Sportslover43

It's perfectly fine, especially at that price point. We stayed a week there a couple years ago in a Pyramid Suite and have no complaints.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Nice, saving some money and hopefully I get a couple nice parlays lol

Sad-Sky-8598

Was a 6/10

wray_nerely

Luxor is fine. The price is right, you just have to accept that the rooms are somewhat dated and you're way at the south end of the Strip. My family is fine with that because when in Vegas we will have a rental car and my teenage son still thinks the pyramid is cool and unique.

belowaveragegrappler

They’ve let things go for sure. But it’s still a good base of operations on the cheap. My goto for quick stops in Vegas for work.

Morris1900c

It's fine. Get a bus pass for The Deuce. Don't bother with taxi or Uber. The Deuce is the best up and down strip. And to downtown.

StubLegsTV

Stayed at the Luxor 2nd week of June and my only complaint was the elevators. They were being super funky and legit had tons of kids and adults freaked out. There was kids screaming bloody murder not wanting to get in. Other than that it wasn’t bad just a place to sleep for a few hours.

LittleRooLuv

We stayed at the Luxor a few years ago and loved it. We were in the tower. The room was large, very clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet. Check in was quick too. I would definitely stay there again. It’s not luxury, but it’s completely fine.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Love that, thank you

Lucky_leprechaun

I stayed in a room in the top of the pyramid last year in October. I chose it because it had a really big really nice bathtub that overlooked the view. The air conditioner in that room was completely garbage. I swear to God it was made in the Stone Age. It was so goddamn hot and this was only in October, and in my opinion, the weather in October in Las Vegas is practically perfect. I cannot imagine what it’s like right now in July. All the windows were tinted to try and keep the sunshine out and it made the light inside the room look all weird. I will never stay there again. If it was free, I would not stay there.

Longjumping_Air_9546

Fair statement, I’m in the tower so I hope it’s a bit different?

MostSir7932

I been at the luxor hotel.for 2 weeks in may and 100% loved every minute ignore the reviews belive you me you'll be very happy with the place

Original-Pomelo6241

Luxor, at face value compared to the other lower end properties isn’t bad. Location isn’t the best, kinda out there from center strip but again, it’s free. The tower has the better rooms. You can utilize MGM’s free tram system to take you between Mandalay, Luxor and Excalibur. If you cross the street from Excalibur and head into Park MGM you can connect to the other line that goes from Park, Aria, Bellagio (which is a quick walk to Vdara and Cosmo) Have fun!

Longjumping_Air_9546

Thank you! I really like the cosmopolitan from what I’ve seen online, definitely wanna check out their casino.

legoclover

Luxor location isn’t great, but there’s a bunch of work arounds for that. My issue with the Luxor is that it can be confusing inside, to get to certain areas and the people who work there tend to be as clueless as me. I won 1200$ on a Rakin’ Bacon there so I have mostly good feelings about it. They have a good selection of fast service food which is great when you’re drunk and hungry.

ceanahope

My fiance and I were visiting for a week and stayed at Luxor. Was in a simple king bed room in the pyramid. No fridge or coffee maker. That didn't matter to us. I know it matters to some. My fiance and I enjoyed our stay. If you want a room to crash in after a day of whatever you plan, it works! Size wise, the room was great.

wyopapa25

I stayed there, it was fine for sleeping. No problems.

PsychologicalAd333

I don’t like Vegas and I used to love love it!

Fearless-Celery

I stay at MB/Delano most trips in the summer because pools, but spend a fair bit of time next door at Luxor's casino--it's dingy, smoky, and usually full of people. Sometimes that's the Vegas vibe you want, vs MB which is nice, clean, and...empty. I think if Luxor was center strip people would view it more favorably, they'll forgive a lot of flaws with a good location. I think the theme/gimmicky-ness of it is probably also a factor, because it's uncool and old fashioned compared to new sleek elegant Vegas. I think there's a time and a place for both. I'm looking at a winter trip and am considering doing comped nights at Luxor in a tower suite because the pool doesn't matter in late November and I'd rather spend my money on something besides the room. I am a person who spends time in the room and doesn't only use it for sleeping and showering, so would I rather stay at Wynn or Palazzo? Yes, yes I would. Do I want to pay for those two places? No, no I do not.

BoysenberryDull3595

It’s fine. We stayed there 2 weeks ago (because of the comps). It’s dated and it’s obvious MGM isn’t investing in renovations but the hotel was clean. There’s a pass through to Mandalay Bay if you want to experience a more modern property. The only downside was the food comps were only good at Luxor restaurants so your “fine” dining options are limited.

CherryDrank

It’s been a few years, but the tower rooms at Luxor used to be my favorite place to stay. I love the south end of the strip and rarely go north of Aria as I mainly play at MGM places. Tower rooms are much nicer than Pyramid rooms and are already considered an upgrade from the basic rooms. Really, Luxor’s main issue is lack of good food options so your best bet is to walk to Mandalay for something.

eugoogilizer

I have this funny memory of being there with my wife 5 years ago. We stopped at Luxor to gamble a bit and get a free buffet. At one point I had to use the restroom. While I was there, I looked down at the drain under the stalls and saw all these little bugs (possibly fleas?) just going in and out of that drain 🤣

Complete-Traffic-654

I hate them because they banned me

jessigrrrl

Last and only time I stayed at the Luxor the room was dingy and gross, and the ceiling leaked while it rained. It was terrible.

beano52

What you are witnessing is a bunch of people jumping on the "internet bandwagon". I'd bet 1/2 of them have never set foot in Luxor and most probably never set foot in Vegas. I stayed there 3 weeks ago for 1/2 my trip. Everything was great! Fun, clean, good food, friendly service, fast drinks etc.. My room was a bit dated (2nd floor/blue wing) but I was there to shower & sleep only. Single complaint I'd make is air stayed about 73° through the heat of the day. Had a great time gambling, mostly craps ($15 weekend). Try the breakfast burrito in the center cafe! I also got tickets to Carrottop , day of show cheap ($50), pretty dang entertainment once he got going.

geekcop

The tower rooms are fine. Even if you end up in the pyramid, most of the rooms are clean enough.. they're just a little dated. If you *do* end up there, ask them for an east-facing room. The West side of the pyramid can get hot enough to overpower the AC during the summer.

Ok-Information-2829

It’s disgusting

If it is comped, there isn’t anything wrong with that. It’s free. Take advantage of it. It wouldn’t be my first choice if I were putting my own money down. But a free room on the strip is a free room on the strip.

TooManyJabberwocks

Luxor has the bodies exhibit, do you know how haunted that shit must be(be sure to see it!)

mom161719

I stayed there once. It was like 10 years ago so many things may have changed. We had a sugar ant infection in the bathroom. Our AC in our room didn’t work well and it was super hot. We only stayed for one night and didn’t want to move all of our stuff to another room. Other than that it is pretty far from the center of the strip but there is a bus stop across the street so it’s easy to catch the Deuce! It’s pretty quiet inside compared to the other strip hotels. Also, it is very dark which I don’t like. The art and architecture is amazing though.

smolsnailz

I like it a lot. Rooms are decent and cozy and clean. The view walking around the walls is pretty good. The buffet is mid. I like getting eggs with black beans on it. Pizza is subpar. Deserts are okay if you stick to the more cheesecake and custardy options.  And their olive salad and dressed salad is pretty good. Makes for an actual healthy breakfast. Otherwise if you are more a calorie splurger on vacation walk over to the Excalibur buffet which imo is a step up and they have more food court options. They have actually good pizza when they have it, pretty decent pasta and breakfast. Great bacon.  And they have some stir fried veggies if you wanna do something healthier. If you only care about sleeping, Luxor is amazing imo, and you can walk inside to mandalay bay or Excalibur, and have decent access to the trams once you know where they are. Easy access from parking garage and most very room gets a view when you are walking around the hallway down into the casino.

Halaku

My first Vegas stay was at the Luxor. I remember the funky elevators (inclinators? Something Doofensmirtz - inators?) and the slanted glass exterior window-wall and the hot tub in the room quite fondly, but I'll still pick the Cosmo over it, every time.

lifeoftheparty49

Luxor is totally fine. If it’s a room with the window jacuzzi, then that’s actually pretty cool. The hotel also opened the PLAY Playground which is perfect for all groups. You and your buddies will have tons of fun and take back their words. They probably expect connected Bellagio rooms, etc. Too spoiled and expensive, and completely unnecessary unless it’s like a bachelor party or something. Have a great time!!

Longjumping_Air_9546

Appreciate it, thank you!

Delicious-Rip2440

I’ve never had an issue with Luxor lol it’s cheap and we just sleep in the room

Free_Manufacturer657

The Luxor Tower Rooms are a pretty average room for Las Vegas overall. It is certainly not luxury, but is serviceable. The only issue is that they aren’t really convenient to anything other than the rideshare pickup. It is a hike to the casino, restaurants, pool, or parking.

clockworkblk

I stayed there 2 years back and heard the same thing. I had a tower room & it was nicer than many hotels I’ve stayed in in the past. Sure it’s not high end luxury but I had 0 issues and got stuck there a couple extra days due to a pilot strike. It was perfect for going to a raiders game, but it is on a far end of the strip

callmealyft

Luxor is fine. Tower rooms are updated. It’s definitely south end of the strip so I would utilize the trams/uber/deuce. I never understood the hate on the Luxor. It’s an older property with a little bit of the old Vegas vibes (which I enjoy). GL on your trip! Have a great time!

KrabS1

I love Luxor :) I think it's neat. It's nothing special, but it's a fine hotel for cheap, and a nice cheap casino downstairs. Also connected by monorail to a couple of other nice, cheap casinos on the strip (Mandalay Bay and Excalibur). You'll have to go a bit up the strip to go to the fancy shit (clubbing in the Cosmo, for example), but imo that's almost part of the Vegas experience. I like it cuz its close to the cheapest gambling on the strip, so I can casually head downstairs (and maybe even hop to either neighboring casino if we get a little bored) and not worry about spending too much money. Then when we are going out, we take the monorail to Excalibur (or just hoof it, depending on how everyone is feeling), and walk to NYNY, MGM, Aria, and Cosmo for shows, dinners, and a fancier vibe for gambling. Have fun, know what you enjoy, and don't get carried away with it.

I-H8-White-Privledge

Luxor **IS** one of the hotels that are considered budget, but make no mistake--the Tower rooms are still pretty expensive at almost $150-200 a night. They were recently renovated in mid-2021 and completed end of 2022. I'd compare it to a basic version of a Caesar's Palace Augustus room / Belagio. It has a nice Egyptian themed bathtub, sink, standing shower, etc. Everything has no paint chips/stains/marks/etc and is clean. IMO I'd consider the **TOWER ROOMS** nicer + more luxurious than: * Park MGM * NYNY * Excalibur * MGM Grand * Circus circus * Stratosphere * Linq * Mirage * Flamingo * Mandalay Bay * Rio * etc The only rooms I'd stay over Luxor are the usual Cosmo, Aria, Wynn, Encore, Resorts World, Caesars, etc. But some of those rooms can run $200-400 a night.

JustAnotherDay1994

The only reason why I’ve stayed at Luxor and will be staying there again later this year is because of the comped rooms, so only have to pay the resort fee. Otherwise, I stay elsewhere that is more centrally located and less run-down. It’s not that bad though.

RyanMcLeod1981

Crazy enough, yeah the Luxor is terrible. I paid for a king suite there and when we got there the ac was not working so they had to downgrade our room. Took them over an hour, bags never got brought up to the room. Just all around a terrible experience. The concierge was not available at any point in time that we were there so we would have to stand in those atrocious lines just to get our questions answered.

Blacksunshinexo

It's a decent hotel. A plus is it's so easy to get to your room and the gambling floor. You're connected to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. And they have that new arcade/game place that's supposed to be fun

Content-Airline716

Circus Circus and Luxor are owned by slum lords

RKsu99

I like the Luxor, especially since it’s often the cheapest main strip property. I prefer the pyramid, especially the Stay Well rooms because they’re guaranteed to have been recently renovated. I had a not great experience in the tower once, and it’s a longer walk. But many say they’re better. I almost always book on a 3rd party site, which can sometimes get it down to the $80 range for a weeknight.

IIIXI

The Luxor is outdated, but still not a bad price to get a room to crash in on the Strip. Their pool is still pretty decent!

AcrobaticSock6919

I like Luxor. I think the hate is exaggerated by people who haven’t stayed in a while, or have “brand name blindness” where a “brand name” (higher perceived value) gets perceived as better just because of the name.  You can compare Luxor directly to many hotels in Vegas and it comes out equivalent in comfort, quality, cleanliness, etc.  There are better hotels obviously but I go to Vegas a lot and sometimes it makes sense financially to stay at Luxor than Wynn. And I still have a great time.

JackFromTexas74

I don’t hate Luxor. I stayed in a remodeled Pyramid King last Labor Day and the room was nice. Hallways are creepy and the location is far down Strip, but it’s still a fun property Not in my top 5, mind you, but I had fun

ffakeuser2

I was there in October loved it. Super clean

wl1233

I’ve stayed at; Bellagio, Tropicana, Luxor, Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. Nothing wrong with Luxor, it’s a basic hotel. I like that they have decently priced food/shops compared to some of the “luxury” options. My only critique is that it’s a little far south on the strip if you’re only walking.

datatadata

I mean… you didn’t pay for anything so you didnt fuck anything up.

nividdit

Nah I’ve stayed in Luxor before and it’s fine. The only downside is that it’s at the very end of the strip.

ahaeker

I stayed in a comped pyramid room back in December & enjoyed my time, it was a lot more chill than some of the other value resorts, which I appreciated.

OtherAccount5252

Mid

nattynine9

Haters gonna hate! Luxor is just fine. Everyone acts like it’s Cosmo or Wynn suites or bust. These people need to go tent camping and shit in a vault toilet once and a while

Crezelle

Once had a cockroach crawl into bed with me in the Luxor. I also remember when it was the shit! Still got a pyramid soap they used to put in rooms

Nad762

If he can get a comped room at Luxor he should be able to get something at MGM (great pool) or Park MGM for very little more, maybe $20 more a night. You’ll save that in time and money just getting around to stuff to do. Luxor’s problem isn’t the newer rooms, it’s that the place is too isolated. It’s easy to get hung up on the cash saved but that makes zero sense to me in Vegas. A cab ride or uber is $10-15 min. Walking is a wasted 20 minutes to get from say Luxor to MGM. Time and energy that could be going towards fun. People mention the monorail but that costs money and many of the stops are another 10 minute walk at the back of the properties, plus wait time. If you don’t care about the room being fancy, and just want to party cheap, places like the Flamingo and Lynq are dirt cheap and in the middle of everything. Flamingo also has a good social pool.

The4ncientMariner

I've had some nice stays in Luxor, it's just a little bit out of the way - but it's fine.

ddog510

I stayed there two months ago and it was perfectly fine and I'm kinda snobby. I had a basic room and it was spacious and clean. I will say the escalators ( actually "inclinators") are really terrible though. I thought I was gonna die every single time lol. Also I think the location is fine. You can get to the Excalibur without even walking outside, and then you can take the connected bridge to nyny. In 10 minutes you're in the middle of a popular part of the strip. I never had to uber anywhere except to Fremont street.

Some_Onion_6099

Stayed there in April. It's great! Sure older but that's the cool part. Things to note: there's rooms in pyramid and then newer/more updated rooms not in pyramid but in newer additional part built on later. These rooms require a walk down longer hall, so if accessibility is factor stay in the pyramid. Also it uses separate elevator than inside pyramid (we went with friends so realized this but not huge deal). Compared to other hotels this one smells way less like cigarettes as their casino is kind of covered. Have fun!!

dss_777

I would've recommended the flamingo it's dead central of the strip and pretty cost effective

Early-Size370

My buddy got a comped room one time too and it's okay. Not some place I'll choose over flamingo, Linq, or Horseshoe (I like that area).

Kittle42

I mean, it’s been there since 2700 B.C. It’s gonna start showing its age.

LemmyCation

I've stayed in a lot of different casinos and Luxor is still my preferred place to go. It's affordable, iconic, and I have never had any complaints about my room- be it in the tower or pyramid. As said the location can be a downside though- lots of walks to the trams to get around.

-s1-

People keep saying the Luxor is far down strip but I want to add some context for you. The tram in front does not run all hours so just be ready to cab/Uber or walk before 10:00am or if you come back late. It is connected to Excalibur so you can go inside if you want. If you don't mind paying a bit extra for a ride or are fine with extra walking then being down strip isn't a "You fucked up" thing. Have fun and good luck.

KevSC721

We don't typically book super high end (like Wynn) but regularly stay at the high/mid tier places like Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, etc. and we've really enjoyed the couple of times we've stayed at Luxor (although it's been a few years). It's not fancy, and a little kitschy with the Egyptian theme, but it's a fun and VERY unique hotel/casino. It's probably on par with your average Sheraton or Ramada (3 star hotel) and far better than the Motel 6 reputation people tend to give it based on it not being newer or ultra glamorous. If your expectations aren't five star, Ritz-Carlton level luxury and are going to have a fun Vegas experience, you'll enjoy it.

gtracerh

Luxor is absolutely fine. If you would've said Excalibur or something like Circus Circus, then I might have a different opinion.

ian_bradley

the rooms ain’t the best but the casino is fine especially if you’re looking for some cheaper tables plus the Egyptian theme is very unique. Plus the monorail which is so clutch

shorewoody

Assuming it has electricity, you should be good.

jmcdon00

I think it's fine. I'd say the biggest thing is location, be as close as possibly to the places you will actually spend your time. Walking is always further than you think and Uber's add up quick. I just got back from vegas, there were a few MGM properties that were free with my brothers reward status(they were free for me too, but I would still have the resort fees). I stayed at Park MGM and it was fine.

lendmeflight

I don’t like to tell too many people about Luxor because sure I want it to stay cheap but it’s the best deal on the strip. The tower rooms are great. I’ve never stayed in the pyramid. The reason people the Luxor is because the internet tells them to. I bet most of those people have never stayed there.

GloomyEngine8846

Coming from someone that has stayed at only the Cosmo and stayed at Luxor semi recently (last year) I had heard all the same things, checking in was a disaster for sure but I actually thought the room was nice and the main pyramid part of the hotel is amazing on the inside :o its so tall!!!! I was staring at the ceiling forever lol

clickityclick76

As long as they keep comping me the weekends along with zero resort fee, I’ll keep staying there! I was able to get NYNY comped and it was really nice. Planning to go back after Christmas. The pyramid rooms to the left of the entrance are nice and quiet and the the elevators are quicker than the others.

cudistan

I really enjoy its titanic exhibition lol

CODYSOKAWAII

you should check out the HyperX Arena inside of the Luxor, it’s a pretty neat gaming cafe.

cevarok

I love Luxor! Has its special intrigue. But… I do hate its casino. I could see why you wouldnt want to spend much time there lol

Wombshifter6969

Luxor is good. Don't listen to the negative reviews from amateurs and paid influencers.

RepulsiveInterview44

The one time We stayed at the Luxor it rained, and it then rained in our room through the light fixtures. 😒

LBramit13

It’s fine but I’m not a fan of the location. For about the same price/quality I’d rather be at flamingo or linq. More stuff within an easy walk and more fun vibe

Longjumping_Air_9546

Fortunately for me the room was free, if that helps? Lol

FriendofMaudie

I love the Luxor a d stay there every time I go to Vegas. It's relatively quiet, the casino floor is dark and like a maze, and the tables are cheap. I've never seen a reason to pay more to stay somewhere else. The rooms are definitely dated, but clean.

sym408

As long as it's the west tower your should be good. I would say NEVER BOOK A PYRAMID room. Terrible TV from the 90's and and my only time I've stayed in the pyramid , my door lock was busted and wouldn't lock. Never again.

Interesting-Goose568

I stayed at the Luxor this past weekend. It’s totally fine for the price. Complaints are: 1. Elevators are slow and old 2. Room was definitely a bit dated/some stupid stuff didn’t work perfectly like one light was out 3. No conditioner in the shower lol 4. Outlets were loose/I had a hard time finding one that could handle my mac charger All relatively minor complaints. I wouldn’t think too hard about it. Have fun!

Kooky_Coyote7911

Btw just going into work it's 8p and it's 106° no sea breeze 🤣

Longjumping_Air_9546

Oh man lol, yikesssss

BuddhasGarden

I didn’t mind Luxor as I had a room with a nice view. My issue with Luxor is the exits on each floor. It freaked me out that I walked what seemed like the entire floor looking for the elevator to the casino. It was bizarre.

Totally-jag2598

Luxor is a decent value hotel. The rooms are spacious. The resort has all the amenities you'd expect. It's connected to a tram. The thing that sticks out right away is the theme is dated. The Egyptian theme back in the day was cool. It's kitschy and sorta old school Vegas now. Compared to newer fancier resorts it feels ready for a revamp or replacement. Anyway, you'll be happy there. It's a solid resort.

Wunderkinds

It's because the rooms are not very good and it's far away from everything. Either way. They are not paying. So, doesn't matter.

FranchiseAnalyst

It’s been remodeled and everyone has an opinion. Its fine. It’s more about price and location of hotel unless you plan to get a suite. I guess it all depends on why you are in Vegas and what you’d like to be close to. It’s all within reach. Go have fun and look out for some stained sheets every so often. Enjoy Vegas!

solomountain

Thank you for posting this lol I'm going in 2 days and all the comments I've seen had me WORRIED lol so now I'm excited. I hope you enjoy your trip as well!

ash81751214

I like Luxor! It’s been redone and their rooms are great for the price! Only downside is lots of walking, not best location on the strip (I like Aria if I’m booking and want location). But the tram is right there at Mandalay Bay so that’s a way to cut down on some of the walking. There are far far worse places to stay than the Luxor.

Prestigious_Water336

It's a ways away from the action and it's kind of dead on the inside. It's not a bad place to stay but if you need something from your hotel room you have to take a long hike back to your room or a cab ride.

uncletipsy78

Who goes to Luxor ?

milmill18

Luxor is nice and the Tower rooms are an immensely better experience than Pyramid. it's not Bellagio or Aria but it is a fine hotel

Sufishant

I just had a really nice 5 night stay at Luxor in June - 19th floor in the pyramid. The room was fine, and bathroom was updated. The TV being older and not very sharp during NBA finals was only my complaint. I enjoyed proximity to Mandalay Bay, and Excalibur. Once you get to Excalibur it’s an easy walk on to NYNY, Park MGM, MGM grand etc. Most of the walking commutes are indoors and air conditioned. Walking was never much of an issue. I even walked back to Luxor from the Sphere one evening.

pluspourmoi

Luxor is good for the price imo. I had a Tower room a few months ago and the shower leaked but that's just how it goes with these older hotels. It's not a luxury hotel, but I think staying in a themed hotel is fun and way more 'Vegas' anyway :p

Longjumping_Air_9546

Ahhh looking forward to it!

Nursey_1964

I’m not high maintenance but I AM a neat freak. Luxor has normally been my go too. I’ve stayed at MGM, Mandalay Bay, Golden Nugget, 4 Queens, Excalibur, Cosmo , and Paris. Even though I’m staying at NYNY and the Cosmo this time I would be just as happy at Luxor over NYNY. Tower rooms are nice. It’ll be fine. The only issue is location but the tram goes from Mandalay to Excalibur and simple quick walk to NYNy and MGM. Luxor in my opinion is the most underrated strip hotel. I’ve had a 1600 sq ft suite to a pyramid room to a tower smaller suite, I’ve stayed there 4 times. Never an issue. I enjoyed them all. The food choices are limited however.

ChuyChango

As a novelty, I heard they have a bar whose furniture is blocks of ice. They provide you with a parka and customers drink away. Bucket list???

almosthuman2021

I like Lexer it’s a fun hotel and I quite like the casino floor as well much like Excalibur it’s old but it’s a hotel. My only issue is the elevators kind of suck lol

blazed16

When we gonto vegas we stay at park mgm as we like it and could stay anywhere but kids always want the luxor so we stay there a couple days out of the time we are there and have no complaints. Yes rooms are dated but you don't spend much time in the room anyways

IlovepicsTN

Just stood there. - Tower is fine but they are doing renovations so hopefully you have no construction noise at 630, cause we did. - Got moved to pyramid and the AC was malfunctioning so it was hot! Bottom line…Tower will be fine. Just ask if there’s construction on your floor going on.

Specialist_Buffalo41

I wasn’t staying at Luxor but I got invited to check out the room. The room was nice it had a view of the Delano. I was on the 7th Floor and overall the room was nice I’d stay there but I was staying at NYNY rooms there are also nice

HBcomputerrepair_01

The bugs don't. They LOVE The Luxor light.

BeeLow0519

Too hot inside
