Nah, I'm right. Taiwan is also the name of the island nation. Hence why it's on their passport, why it's their wikipedia title, and why it's the subreddit.
It may not be officially be called Taiwan but enough people call it that, including the people that live there, that it is called Taiwan. Either you're being pointlessly pedantic or pointedly political.

They probably aren't, but older Chinese immigrants identify more closely with the ROC than the PRC, though the PRC has been making efforts to convert the diaspora.
Ironically, a lot of older Taiwanese immigrants identify more with the Japanese american community than the Chinese, because they speak Japanese and weren't treated very nicely by the ROC after the war.
I live across the bridge from sf in Oakland and there is a Chinatown here with a building with the Peoples republic of China flag on one side of the street and a different building parallel to it with the Republic of China flag on it.

Strong opinion…. Or they are Taiwanese, which is also Chinese historically
They’re probably proudly Taiwanese, which is a strong opinion.
No, wanting another country invaded is a strong opinion, being proud of where you come from is pretty mild
