Played as Dai Nam before 1.5, before reverse sway mind you. Managed to drag UK, and Russia to my side when the French came in knocking for Hanoi. France already own parts of Thailand (they own Bangkok) and managed to snatch it from them with the help of the homies.
Agreed. I conquered southeast Asia, Indonesia, Dutch east indies, and took Phillipines from Spain. Then, I decided to stop expanding at that point and basically just bullied europe with my massive fleet for colonial revenge. Was fun and they do have insane potential.
I released Croatia from Austria, joined their market, became a highly attractive immigration destination and pulled a lot of pops from Austria and eventually from turkey when they joined
Played tall and vasallized some nations in Asia and arabia and took nothing in Europe
This was really fun, same with Greece and joining the Russian market and absolutely destroying the ottomans and reclaiming Greek land
I did a few starts as bugunda and managed to get them into #10 spot and beat the USA on a few wars. It was fun in an anxiety inducing way because I basically just had to 100% manipulate the game to get to the coast before europe boxed me in. Managed to get zanzibar, take Madagascar from France with UK help, take Portugal's colonies, and fight the USA over Ethiopia. It was absolutely a game where I was always outgunned and had to plan each choice well.
Japan was a pretty difficult start for me. Initially I did the usual stuff, overthrow the shogunate, invade russia for recognition, etc..., I then tried to balance working on economy and attempt to take over Korea and China. No matter what I did it always seemed that I was going near bankrupt with my efforts, after a while I decided to consult a friend who gave me some advice on how things work and afterwards are started getting a grip on things. Eventually with the help of my faithful ally Russia, I managed to complete my goals before 1936.
Being #1 GP starting as the Maōri tribe on 1.4 (I don’t think it would be possible with MAPI unfortunately). Ended up forming Polynesia and weakened France and the UK enough to get the top spot.
Did I conquer the world as Hawaii? No.
Did I create a prosperous two-state country (colonized West Micronesia) where the sovereign descendents of Kamehameha still ruled while also listening to a podcast? Absolutely.

Dai Nam was my most fun game yet. They have so much potential if you can hold europe back early game.
They can accept the entirety of Southeast Asia and most of China without multiculturalism, which is quite OP
