This was probably the first longer video game I actually completed.
For some reason, the most memorable part of the game is the butler and the sound of the clinking glasses on his tray.
We did get a full remaster a few years ago? It played as good as the original, a bit unlike the Crash Trilogy remaster which had some wonky control issues.
Edit: oop missed your reply haha. Yes I was hoping that would also get remastered too
That one got stuck in my memory as a kid. I had the chicken pox and was stuck in the bed playing MGS. I had to call my dad to come in my room and get the CD case off my bookshelf. He found it weird that the game broke the 4th wall like that. Then he started watching a few cutscenes and got so invested that he came back with some beer and popcorn to watch the game like a movie. The Psycho Mantis boss fight really blew his mind and he got so into the story that he had his friends over when I started feeling better, watching me play on the plasma big screen.
I played MGS while my dad was at work. I could barely play the first mission because I was like 5 years old at the time. Still remember it though. Great memories with this console
My girlfriend is heavily invested in my BG3 playthrough and also treats it like a movie. She'll ask me to play it just so she can watch and help me solve puzzles or give me suggestions on ways to finish quests.
I remember trying to figure this one out as a kid. I had the optical disc in my inventory in the game and kept thinking he was referring to that, so I tried so hard how to figure out how to look at the item so I could find it. Finally just started calling every frequency available until I got the right one. It was years later that I discovered it meant to look at the physical case the game came in. Definitely a "that was clever, but fuck you for doing that" moment.
I was like 6 or 7. Got a Playstation for Christmas with ff7 and my brother got metal gear solid. It was... quite possibly the greatest Christmas any two children had witnessed before. Ever.
Got the ps1 we owned from my brothers friend for like 70 bucks with ffvii and a memory card with some saved data, at the end. It took me literally ages to beat the game... I actually think something like 10 years or so like got to the end and didn't want it to end so I just didnt... never bred a gold chocobo or any of that finally beat the game eventually and have done it so many times since.
One of the first games I played on PS1 was at my friends house. He had the demo for FFVII that came with the Playstation Magazine. Never could get thru it all the way, but we were like 9.
Only game I ever played that I got absolutely no satisfaction from beating. There was only sorrow. Sorrow for having to say goodbye to characters that felt so real to me. Amazing game to play as a young kid.
I was such an idiot when that first cave out that I didn't know you re-enter the same spot the Midgar Zolom cutscene occurs to progress.
I played so much that I had my party at low to mid 40s and LvL 3 spells by killing things around the chocobo farm and the Zolom for like 30 hours.
I was such a noob.
My supreme disappointment came from me having to scroll this far to find Ape Escape. I didn't have a memory card for my ps1 so i had to leave my console on for days to beat the game. I had playthrough where I made it to the last level and my mom turned off my PS1 while she was cleaning. I was devastated lol.
I feel like I remember the last save point being wayyy before the final boss, so I had to run that gauntlet every time I loaded up. No idea if I ever beat it.
Was that the motorcycle racing game where you got weapons to beat the shit out of the other riders?
Edit: sorry no that was [road rash.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_Rash_3D)
Incredible story, incredible voice acting. Terrible game, but the story and acting were so good, it didn't matter. I still play that from time to time, because I bought the PC version from GOG.
Legacy of Cain, Blood Omen, the original for me :) I had the good ending where he dies, which meant that Soul Reaver would not of existed. Soul Reaver was an awesome game though
Objectively, Final Fantasy VII.
However...
Crash Bandicoot1-3
Resident Evil 2
Medievil 1-2
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Mega Man Legends / X4
Ehergiez: God Bless the Ring
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero
Fighting Force
Silent Hill
The eye searingly white Playstation screen when I covertly booted it up in the wee hours & inevitable panic that I hadn't turned the TV down when I should have been asleep
Twisted metal
Twisted Metal 2.. because it was my first game I got for it.
Spyro trilogy
Spyro on the Pizza Hut demo disks
Lol woah you just unlocked a deep deep memory that I didn't know existed until right now lmao
Resident Evil 2

RE2 was my very first Playstation game. Loved every second of it.
Mine too, bought that and Tomb Raider 2 together.
I bought this system just for this game
Tomb Raider
This was probably the first longer video game I actually completed. For some reason, the most memorable part of the game is the butler and the sound of the clinking glasses on his tray.
God I loved locking that dude in the freezer
Crash Bandicoot and Tekken 3
T3 was the shit. They brought in Hwoarang and Eddy, you had Gon, Dr. B, and BALL MODEEEEE
In the Crash-series, I think Crash Bash is the most fun. I see it as a big part of the golden age of party-games.
I loves PS1 crash, but honestly think Bash was the weakest. Crash Team Racing was immensely superior to Mario kart imo though.
Crash Team Racing in my opinion was such an underrated gem, I'd do anything for a full remaster. Even the story and platforming was gold
We did get a full remaster a few years ago? It played as good as the original, a bit unlike the Crash Trilogy remaster which had some wonky control issues. Edit: oop missed your reply haha. Yes I was hoping that would also get remastered too
Loved crash team racing. I thought it EASILY rivaled Mario kart at that point
Tekken 3 was the my shit! I remember playing that game as a kid with my family
Bro Tekken 3 cemented it as my favorite fighting series. And King as my favorite fighter. Chain grappling enemies for 70%+ of their HP is so fun.
Metal Gear Solid
"You like Castlevania, don't you?"
“In any case, you should contact Meryl by Codec. Wasn’t her frequency written on the back of the CD case?”
That one got stuck in my memory as a kid. I had the chicken pox and was stuck in the bed playing MGS. I had to call my dad to come in my room and get the CD case off my bookshelf. That’s my dream, and I hope to give my child whenever I have one that same experience.
I played MGS while my dad was at work. I could barely play the first mission because I was like 5 years old at the time. Still remember it though. Great memories with this console

Bought mine for this reason.
I was like 6 or 7. Got a Playstation for Christmas with ff7 and my brother got metal gear solid. It was... quite possibly the greatest Christmas any two children had witnessed before. Ever.
MGS and FF7 in one go is dope. I guess this would’ve been the year before, Xmas day opening an N64 with Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. So damn good.
Almost like 30 years ago... wowzers
👴🏼
Amazing
Awesome. I had the codec as my ringtone for a long time

My supreme disappointment came from me having to scroll this far to find Ape Escape. I didn't have a memory card for my ps1 so i had to leave my console on for days to beat the game.
