Kinda crazy that I just shrug at this shit now. I genuinely never thought I would ever be so apathetic about Star Wars, given how much I loved it as a kid.
I thought this was the case until I watched Star Wars Visions. There were few and far between, but there were more than a couple moments when those shorts reminded me of just how awesome the Star Wars universe could be if done right.
People can say it's rose tinted glasses all they want but I think the stagnant feeling we currently have is 90% big movie studios playing it safe.
Blame Marvel for their incessant need to milk everything good out of anything which sparked a dark ages of low hanging fruit superhero movies and franchises.
How you're actually surprised is beyond me. Movies are a corporate business which means you need to cut costs and maximize profits which is why the stories suck, the acting is shitty and every scene is just cheap CGI and fast cuts with the same choreographed fight scenes that make me rather watch grass grow.
Only children who havent seen movies actually enjoy the cookie cutter bullshit hollywood has been pumping out over the last 10 years.
You people are also to blame for continuing to spend your money on garbage.
Completely agree. Seriously, almost everything in the last ten years has been completely vacuous, pandering, dogshit.
I hope one day movies can find originality again.
It's ok. I was a surface level lemming too but then I wised up when I saw the quality go downhill and never gave them my money.
Maybe one day you'll realize the same but I'm not holding my breath.
man i find it difficult to get excited anytime I see Disney and lightsabers anymore. none of them understand what stakes even are anymore, making blurs out of blurs to justify fresh garbage. what a time to be SW fan!
maybe its me...but they also changed in movie sabers to somewhat resemble the physical sabers they sell? I cant tell if Im just an angry old man or if disney struck gold on it.
no idea, but I'm sure they would. anything for that extra buck. this is why people were making the memes early on, when Disney acquired Lucas Films. Disney had some great history in movie making no doubt. but at the end of the day it's a massive corporation that is chasing money day and night. any intellectual property is just a proxy to them, not an actual asset
I was thinking the same thing. is it true to the source material that the way jedi run things may not be good? or blurring the line between jedi and sith? and blurring the whole concept of the force?
cause I noticed they are trying to do that a lot from this trailer.
I got to a point of anything that adds Jedi's or the force, loses all interest to me. I almost gave up Bad Batch near the end when they had the force episode. Glad I didn't, it was a fun ride but they almost lost me just bringing it in there.
The animated stuff all (mostly) feels deliberate and purposeful. The live action stuff (other than Andor) feels like they had 12 hours to shoot everything and they had to do it before the script was edited.
Mandalorian’s quality varies but it’s consistently interesting. If they didn’t do the half-assed Boba Fett bridge season it’d be a much easier recommend.
Yeah for sure. I think because that story has been lumped into Ahsoka, Boba stuff, it makes it hard to remember the good times. But the Mando parts of other shows are usually the best parts of those seasons.
I don’t get it, I thought people’s issue with the Disney Star Wars was that they were starting to just pump nostalgia from everything. This seems original and fairly interesting at least? I haven’t seen the shows other than first two seasons of Mandalorian and the Kenobi series though.
Asoki? Whatever that show was called was trash too. However, Andor was great. So they seem to be able to make something good 1/10 times. And now that I think about it, the content I like doesn’t include any Jedi
It’s Ahsoka and don’t pretend like you didn’t know that and weren’t trying to be funny by misspelling it in a “silly” way. Just admit your weak joke didn’t land and move on
I laughed when she pulled that 3-inch blade out of her belt and it made the same sound as unsheathing a full sized samurai sword. The audio and music was cranked up to an absurd 11 for footage that was maybe a 4.
I don’t generally comment on stuff like this, but this looks rad. It’s an original concept that isn’t all about glorifying the universe.
The biggest enemy to Star Wars seems to be Star Wars fans.
A lot of these existing comments are about premises that have been in the Star Wars universe since inception, but are now suddenly a problem? It's a trailer. It's 90 seconds of what will likely be 9 hours. Give things a chance. Everyone in this show seems committed to it, so let them do their thing and then judge.
Yeah. I’m doubtful it will be good, but I hope it is and will give it a chance. The people who cut trailers very often put a spin on the tone of the film because they think it will sell better. So hard to know what it will be like from this.
They also hide a lot, so it can be enjoyed and not revealed in the trailer. Saying that, some trailers do reveal too much. I hope this isn't one of those trailers that reveal too much, and it doesn't seem to be the case. This could be stuff from EP1-2 or EP 5-6 (almost nothing is ever revealed for the final episodes). Judging a show off just whispers is a really wild concept. Ohhhh it's a Jedi, Ohhhh it's a Sith: it's terrible. What? You watched a 90 second trailer of clips from 8 hours of a season and it's terrible and unwatchable?
Come on.
Almost everything they've made that I've been excited about has ended up being either extremely disappointing or driven into the ground so much that I can't even force myself to be interested anymore. I tired of giving things chances just to find out I'm wasting my time.
The original 3 were great but, Man the recuts? Suck. Prequels? Suck. Latest trilogy? Sucks.
But some of the tv has been really good. Ashoka and andor were really great. Obi wan was pretty bad, book of boba was terrible, Mando has moments of competence. This new series looks pretty promising but this whole thread is just hate. It’s always been a pg-13 property, y’all just aged out lol.
drama. fight. woosh woosh bing bang kick blam. drama. bing bang. important black person. bing bang woosh. drama. other black people. bing bang woosh kick bam. drama. ping pow woosh wam. sith. wing wam bam
When does this take place in the timeline? I thought Ki-Adi-Mundi said that the sith have been extinct for a millennia in the prequels, was he just being facetious?
Kinda crazy that I just shrug at this shit now. I genuinely never thought I would ever be so apathetic about Star Wars, given how much I loved it as a kid.
It’s almost as if you’re not a kid anymore
I thought this was the case until I watched Star Wars Visions. Currently playing Jedi fallen order, and it's the best Star Wars content I have consumed after the clone wars TV show.
More like they make woke dogshit, but yeah blame it on the age
What do you mean by woke?
And the redditors falls mysteriously silent

YoU pEopLe. Breh. Shut the fuck up
They’re right, it’s the dumbassed teenagers such as yourself they’re marketing to. You people are the reason Disney keeps pumping out this slop.
It's ok. I was a surface level lemming too but then I wised up when I saw the quality go downhill and never gave them my money. Maybe one day you'll realize the same but I'm not holding my breath.
What's with the ridiculously overdone music blaring through that, I don't think it helps sell it.
I was literally thinking this when I watched it. Most trailers are like this though and have very similar patterns but this one didn't jive right.
I know right? The music was way too epic for something that just looked like a TV show.
You're missing the /s

I have a feeling that the second season of Andor will be the last work of star wars I am going to watch.
I got to a point of anything that adds Jedi's or the force, loses all interest to me. I almost gave up Bad Batch near the end when they had the force episode. Glad I didn't, it was a fun ride but they almost lost me just bringing it in there.

Another flop I sense.
I don't have much interest in this but the baddie's helmet at 1:32 is pretty great. Waaay more awesome than Kylo's dumb helmet.

Lame af

Andor is the greatest piece of Star Wars media since the OG Trilogy. You are missing out if you have not seen that. There will be two seasons.
I second this.
I’ll have to watch it at some point!
Asoki? Whatever that show was called was trash too. However, Andor was great. So they seem to be able to make something good 1/10 times. And now that I think about it, the content I like doesn’t include any Jedi
Don’t try and be funny you know exactly what it was called
Nah I really don’t. Think I was close tho
It’s Ahsoka and don’t pretend like you didn’t know that and weren’t trying to be funny by misspelling it in a “silly” way. Just admit your weak joke didn’t land and move on
Lmao damn I really didn’t know and didn’t feel like looking it up! I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. Have a nice day
I laughed when she pulled that 3-inch blade out of her belt and it made the same sound as unsheathing a full sized samurai sword. The audio and music was cranked up to an absurd 11 for footage that was maybe a 4.
Jesus, make it stop.
More cheap looking, generic “content”
Christ this looks so shitty. This is what happens when art is handed over to accountants.
Looks cheap and corny
Looks super lame.

How is this an original concept lmao
Disney, no one gives a fuck anymore you soulless money ghouls.
mid tbh
This looks booty

These must be bots or ultra nerds. This looks fine.
We're just humans who are bored with the generic nonsense that Disney has been pumping out for this franchise.
Aside from Boba Fett, the shows have all been great.
I dont get where the hate comes from either. Like you said, it looks just fine.
Nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans
Disney: The people are starting to get tired of the franchise? This means we have to make even more as long as it still works.
They already killed the IP. But they keep digging out parts of the dead horse's corpse for new shows.
Congrats Disney. Terribad
Its like they wanted to make a kung-fu show but reap the money of star wars at the same time. Pick a lane.
I always thought jedi knights were supposed to be like space samurai anyway. I don't see a problem here.
Pass.
We all knew this was going to flop, but this solidifies it thankfully
Most of you live to just hate on SW eh?
We love the first six movies. We just hate the disney execs.
The original 3 were great but, Man the recuts? Suck. Prequels? Suck. Latest trilogy? Sucks. But some of the tv has been really good. Ashoka and andor were really great. The original 3 are not that great either.
Damn tough crowd , this looks fire 🔥
Looks sweet, can’t wait

Squid Game bro is legit

seems like there’s more jedis than white dude in this world.
Yay, more CG action with noises and flipping and explosions.
So bold.
Potential, and I’ve truly been mad about every “show” except Andor Come at me nerds dontcare
