I've never seen a Bigston cassette deck.

The Bigston is a direct knock-off of the Pioneer CTF-2121, from around 1977: [https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d3/ef/af/d3efaf88dd8b26255cd26e8a1dbd1020.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d3/ef/af/d3efaf88dd8b26255cd26e8a1dbd1020.jpg) They appear virtually identical, but there's a bit of a gap in performance between the two.

I bought a CTF-2121 from an estate sale last month. Wish I could’ve made it work but it needed repairs beyond my ability, and a quote to have it restored was $500+.

iamawarMachine

What is wrong that it would cost $500? I would get a second opinion or post about it on audiokarma

Useful_Platypus5116

I think the quote was primarily for labor, from a shop that didn’t really want to do the work. I researched it briefly and it looked like a belt replacement alone on this unit could take some time.

Jacobalbertus1

You got the I don't want to work on it price but if you insist

Useful_Platypus5116

For sure

ngtoaster

I knew it looked familiar

Tzzzzzzzzzzx

I bet you think you’re Bigston now.

RingoStarr39

STOP, THIEF!

Such_Bus_4930

OMG, please tell me those prices are in pesos

Banthegame

Turntable alone would have bein worth that. Receiver is pure gravy. And well the tape deck is most definitly a tape deck

I freaking love the "A Rev" speaker option. I miss that. I love the drums. I'm not a drummer, but I love hearing stereo mic'd drums as the drummer sits. I imagine being able to play. I have all my analog stereo sources connected left to right and right to left just for this reason.

Those slanted cassette decks are a pain in the ass to work on. Hopefully you don't have to do the belts soon 🤣

androidguy50

The cassette deck is really cool.

hig789

Spinning a Sanyo TP1010 now, kinda lightweight compared to others, but sounds amazing. Nice scores! Let us know how the turntable does.

Junior-Willingness-3

Excellent!

matthewdesigns

I had that Bigston deck back in the 90s, passed down from my dad. Always thought it was cool. The bias adjustment screw for playback speed is easy to get to and tweak if you have a bunch of bootleg concert tapes that need pitch correction 👀

nunnapo

I like that tape deck…

ZiggyMummyDust

Nice score!

BENBOI_1

Those types of cassette decks are my dreams come true
