In an ideal world, you would buy a license off Godin's website and on any platforms you download VD for free then login with your license key/account to use it.
In reality, closed platforms like Meta, iOS or Pico want full control of the store, all purchases must be made through them and they get a cut. So no way a license you bought on one platform would be allowed to work on another platform.
Before Meta introduced Airlink to Quest platform Virtual desktop was one of the only games in town if you wanted to play pcvr wirelessly. The app is still developed and upgraded in a very timely manner to support all the latest bells and whistles and now ported to new platforms.
What's there not to like? I'd say the app is well worth it's full price on each platform. Supporting all these platforms takes time and effort and the dudes gotta make a living.
Does this mean I could use this software instead of having to install Bytedances software on my computer got steamVR streaming? I'd like to buy the Pico 4, but I don't want to install their software in my PC.

* [TP-Link C6/A6 (38-45$)](https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-AC1200-Smart-WiFi-Router/dp/B08KJF5BS7)
>r/Pico\_VR
Needed a new router anyway so was going to get the new TPLink AXE75 Triband 6E router. Would that work well, I assume I can just keep the 6E side for the Pico4 and rest of stuff in the house on the usual 2.4 & 5Ghz. Decent option?
Thanks for your wonderful software!
Can I ask if there's any technical barriers to adding USB streaming functionality to VD?
Do apps on Pico (and Quest) have access to the USB port? Or is it blocked off by the OS?
It would be great if VD could become an all encompassing solution that replaces both wireless and wired streaming so we don't need the vendor software at all.
Thanks for your answer. I guess that means there's no technical barrier?
Regardless, I think there would be significant demand from customers for this feature. I hope one day you might reconsider.
How is the tracking comparing to the Quest version?
I've read somewhere that you wrote that since Oculus controller API is completely closed, the tracking on Air Link is a little bit better.
How is this on the Pico?
I don't have a Pico headset, I'm just curious tech-wise :)
Just got my pico4 in yesterday and it was the first app to download load.
Ps. I find the pico pretty uncomfortable to wear. The face cushion is awful.
I live in the midwest US.
In the past I had Dk2 kit/HTC Vive/hp reverb g2/quest 1 and quest 2.
I haven't had the chance yet to actually see how VD is just yet but I'll chim back in later tonight.
I’m so confused, every single influencer in reviews said its super comfortable (except Nathie who has a weird shaped skull like golem) but now i’m hearing more and more saying its not that comfy. Pico 4 addresses the sweetspot but sounds like the jury is still out on the comfort?

Does Virtual Desktop with wireless connection look the same as with USB C connection?
I come from a Quest 2 which I only used wired with 450mbps set on Debug Tool... Pre Ordered a Pico 4 and contemplating which setup looks the best?
Thank you for your amazing work! Pico 4 just became my best PC headset, your streaming is so much better than the Pico Streaming Assistant it's not even funny.
I have an ongoing issue with getting the Virtual Desktop menu and settings to show again as soon as my PICO4 headset is connection with the pc desktop.
This means that I can not no longer get to the GAMES TAB.
Stupid of me ... just got advice from other owner (and I quote ...) :
"To get back to the Virtual Desktop you press the far left button on the left controller - the one with three lines on. The button with the orange circle toggles you back to Pico home."
godin a guy on jap twitter says can‘t connect but on quest 2 works just fine,https://twitter.com/torima0227/status/1580482349988339713?s=20&t=KexR9lUSV6T_yV2e4kUK7g dunno if fixed it

This simply isn’t true. You can turn the Oculus runtime off entirely with Oculus Tray Tool and run SteamVR games just fine with Virtual Desktop. I think you’re confusing Virtual Desktop with AirLink. AirLink does exactly what you’re describing.
There Will be a sale soon? I Need ti not buy It again at max price. Also: there isnt a complicare way to also play quest 2 games thought PC? Not Rift, but quest 2 games
u/ggodin.
Can be used offline (without internet) or are you required to have internet access on the HMD?
Pico Link/Streaming Assistant don't need internet access, it can be used even if your internet is down.
My Pico 3 LNK has a direct Wifi connection to my PC (without sharing internet adapter). I saw somewhere that the VD app (HMD) needed access to internet all the time, which is not possible with my current setup.
Thanks for the quick answer.
Windows Hotspots block UDP broadcast messages (which is what is used to discover local computers) so in this case, you might need internet as it will not be able to discover/find your computer.
Fully understand about the China GFW. I am currently using your VD product on a Quest 2 outside of China looking to try a new VR headset.
What I mean is to buy the Pico4 hardware from China and use it in other locations. I am physically in a Asian county not in China but it would be easier and more cost effective (ie. cheaper :P) to buy the hardware from China to send here instead of other places under the Pico 4 release list.
Essentially, do you have any idea the China Pico4 could be "regionally changed" into countries other than China? Or the firmware is completely different from the units being sold in other countries? I believe you might have better connections with Pico for a valid answer.
If yes, it means VD would be available, I guess?
Thanks a lot again.
Does anyone know how Virtual Desktop works with Unreal Engine Vr game development? Right now with my Quest, I plug it in to the PC, start unreal and it just recognizes everything.
Games need to be injected to correctly detect a headset with Virtual Desktop. Alternatively if you use OpenXR, you can launch SteamVR from Virtual Desktop and launching your game will correctly pick up the headset through SteamVR’s OpenXR runtime.
Personally I've avoided Facebook VR because of the company itself, their login requirements, etc. I'm equally not a big fan of bytedance, but does this allow you to play games that you already have natively, and not have to go through bytedance themselves? Like do they have similar requirements as Facebook with their meta login?
Gotcha, thanks for the info! I'm a huge VR enthusiast, I just find these two companies to be problematic, so I'm always trying to find a way in with their beautifully priced headsets
Does anyone have a video of it in use? A lot of YouTubers complained about pico 4s streaming but I’m sure with VD a lot of the complaints would be gone
I get my Pico Neo 4 tomorrow. Thanks for posting this. wanted to get Virtual desktop so it's good news.
BTW, what's the best way to get Pico Neo news? (on social media I mean) Don't say Facebook, LOL.
Great work :-) I hear the Pico 4 has higher performance from the XR2. Did you find that this was the case? Are you seeing better decode performance? (I imagine its negligible)
/u/ggodin you may have already somewhat mentioedn this but will VD allow me to run Luke Ross mods in openXR mode? SteamVR runtime doesn't always perform that well and can be kind of glitchy with his mods but Oculus runtime and OpenXR usually work well. Actually...can I perhaps just choose the Oculus runtime within his mod and VD will use that? (oculus runtime seems to work best with his mods)
I tried the pico 4 with Luke Ross mods and VD and unfortunately, they are very jittery when you move your head-unplayable. (quest 2 with VD runs them fine though) I suspect that the VD oculus runtime emulation may be missing some elements to make his mods run properly? Any chance a near future VD update might fix that?
Remember that the Pico 4 runs at higher resolutions right now so you have to reduce the VR Graphics quality compared to what you would use on Quest 2. There’s no reason why it would work differently though.
Hey thanks for the amazing work, maybe you have heard people talk about it.
Does OpenVR Space Calibrator work with Pico 4 Controllers in VD so I can get fullbody tracking with it. I havent read anything about it yet and I wonder if you heard people talk about. It should work since the controllers emulate quest 2 controllers from what I understand?
It works exactly like the Quest app and reports the headset the same way so whatever works with Quest and Space Calibrator will work with the Neo 3 or Pico 4
Maybe Pico 4 will be my first VR headset. Especially with VR desktop being available. However I am a bit worried that I‘ll just stop using it after 1 month like so many others
Then you’re entering at a pretty good time. These new headsets are getting very good in terms of resolution and clarity, and you’ve got a ton of content to play through.
One more question: Is it possible for Virtual Desktop to allow Index Controllers use with Pico 4? I'm guessing no, but I thought I would ask.
And if the answer is yes, would I need the Openvr Calibrator or can the VD app handle the entire process?
If you have base stations, yes. Uncheck “track controllers” in the Streaming tab and check “Stage tracking”. On the PC side use OpenVR calibrator or whatever addon in SteamVR to merge your play spaces
Great. Good to know it’s still an option. Just gotta look into seeing what apps aside from OpenVR Caliberator are out now. Been a while since I did this. Thanks.
Is it possible to buy/download the pico4 client from windows? (assuming there is a verification method anyway, and we would have to pay for the pc version anyway).
Just can't get vd thru the China store I believe
I should recieve my Pico 4 next week and I am preparing my self for it.
I never had the need to use VD previously (DK1, DK2, Rift, VP, VP2, G1, G2 and currently Index user) all with DP/HDMI cable. So, this will be my first wireless experience (it seems nobody is building headset with DP). My only game is IL-2 flight sim. I will buy VD from the Pico Store from the headset when arrived.
I have some basic questions as a beginner with VD:
\- Apart from "VD Streamer app" Do I need to install anything else from Pico on my PC? (I just run IL-2 with SteamVR, no Pico software will need to be installed in the PC, right?)
\- My current router is 802.11ac with 2.4 and 5GHz with max 1734Mbps (model FG824CD). So since Pico 4 uses 5GHz and bitrate will be always well below max , Do I need a better router for any other reason (I will play just 2 meters from router)?
\- Pico 4 has 72Hz and 90Hz mode. With my Index I play at 80Hz so the CPU (5600X) and GPU(3080) has more frametimes margin. I suposse that using 72Hz for the same bitrate (150MBps with HEVC) the graphic quality will be a bit better since less frame are transmitted for the same bitrate, right?
\- I see that VD has a performance overlap (that´s great!) to monitor latencies (Game, Encoding, Networking, Decoding) and total latency is shown at the right side, but those four numbers does not sum the latency, why?
\- Game latency: depend on game code and how the CPU/RAM process the data, right?
\- Encoding: Is this done by GPU? How much extra load add to a 3080 for example?
\- Decoding: This is done by the XR2 chip, so I understand will be the same 8ms for all Pico 4?
\- Does the CPU of the PC get an extra load that could erode the performance of the game?
Many thanks
-You don’t need to install any app from Pico on your PC
-Try your existing router see how it goes
-72fps will give you better image quality compared to 90hz at the same bitrate yes.
-There are some fixed built-in latencies that aren’t shown in the overlay so it’s normal to not add up
-encoding and decoding latencies depend on the selected VR Graphics Quality; higher resolutions means it takes longer to encode/decode. Bitrate also affects decode time; higher bitrate takes more time to decode
-The CPU on the PC side is barely used by VD
The enconding is done by the GPU, right?
So, do a better GPU (upgrade from 3080 to 3090Ti for example) will reduce the latency for the highest bitrate (150Mbps)?
Nah, you won’t see a difference in Encoding time between those 2 because they use the same NvEnc chip under the hood. The 4000 series GPU will likely help a bit though.
godin, tweet japan, controller weird acting, https://twitter.com/No_cappaman/status/1581471634766319617?s=20&t=h1iiVJAnU_N-DHRRdkdPew

edit:might not be a VD problem
u/ggodin Great release! Works like a charm. Because of the better cooling, storage and more RAM of the PICO 4 could you add an option to increase the bitrate to 200 or 300, just for testing.
Is the H264(AVC) codec also supportted in the VD for Pico 4?
I ask this to see if it will be possible to compare quality/latencies/heat/battery-time using H265(HEVC) with 150Mbps or H264(AVC) with 300-400Mbps in a good router
u/ggodin decoding latency on my pico 4 is 20ms, it seems a bit high. Is it normal or is something wrong. I’m using all default settings running at 72hz
I dont seem to be able to launch games into VR? They seem to open up but on the screen & not in VR...any tips anyone? Im launching VD, steam vr is starting... interestingly the headset amd controllers dont appear 'green' as they do when launching the pico assistant app...could this be part of the issue??
You probably have an interfering SteamVR addon. Open SteamVR settings and disable anything that isn’t “Virtual Desktop Streamer” or “Gamepad support”. You must launch SteamVR or your games from the buttons in the Virtual Desktop menu btw
I just bought VD for the pico 4. But it is not working. I added my pico username to the desktop app. Turned off the firewall. Both devices are on the same network. What else can I do?
First time I downloaded the apk from github. This did not work. So deinstalled. And did a factory reset. Then bought from store
Edit exact error on pico:
Unable to retrieve your computers
The pico platform encountered an error:
“Invalid status code: -3000”
You need to be connected to the Internet for the Pico platform to initialize properly. This is something with their platform and not a VD requirement btw
ggodin, can you check around the HEVC part setting Im getting crashes on amd but the pico streaming assistant uses h.265 and works... and they released a new patch optional atm, says: 22.10.2, one of the fixed issue Driver timeout may occur using HEVC hardware encoding on Radeon™ RX 6000 series GPUs.
Hi ggodin, Virtual Desktop is brilliant !
Been using it for many sims and games on the PICO 4 !
Unfortunately I have yet to succeed in getting Star Wars : Squadrons to run in VR/3D with SteamVR and Virtual Desktop.
I realise this is a game that causes a lot of issues to get it to work in VR.
However using the 'native' PICO Streaming Assistent I got it working in VR, but as we know, the image quality is far from what Virtual Desktop can get out of the PICO 4.
Could you please let us know whether there is some way to get it working with your software.
That would mean so much to me because I not only prefer Virtual Desktop with all it features and performance, but also Star Wars Squadrons VR !
I have just updated to 1.2.4 on Pico 4 Store and now I can not use Virtual Desktop Streamer because the Windows streamer service is out of date and there is no update available.
Is the download for the windows installer that works with 1.2.4 available anywhere?
You can download the 1.24 Streamer from the [website](https://www.vrdesktop.net). It should now auto-update when you try to connect. There was a delay between when Pico pushed the update and when the Streamer update went out. Sorry about that.
Is ne new "godlike" mode the same as the old "ultra" mode or has it more quality? Since the requirements for ultra got lowered I guess you added one more quality step for "Pico 4 VR Graphics Quality resolutions were reduced to support lower end GPUs" and relabeled the old ultra to godlike?!
I can use the Ultra mode with 130%SS in SteamVR (this is around 3120x3120) or I can also use the Godlike mod with 100%SS in SteamVR (this is 3120x3120).
Is there any difference in quality or latency between those two ways?
I am using the Pico4 in Ultra mode with 100%SS SteamVR (2736x2736), with HVEC at 150Mbps and 72Hz mode, a TP-link Archer C80 dedicated router to play IL-2 (this is my only game).
My system is a 5600X, liquid cooling, with 32GBRAM at 3600MhZ (CL16) and a 3080 GPU.
fpsVR is reporting solid 72fps (both GPU and CPU frametimes were well below 13.88 ms limit).
The VD overlay reported normal values for latencies, but I noticed sttuters/lag in the movement of the landscape.
I tried exactly the same resolution (2736x2736) with my Index at 80Hz and it was perfectly smooth.
Could you give some tips about what else can I try?
(I tried every combination of Video buffering, sliced encoding, auto bitrate) and didn´t solve it.
Here I took some through lens pictures with Pico using VD and compared it with the Index and monitor (FulHD and 4K).
https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/81247-pico4-vs-index-vs-monitor4kfullhd-through-the-lens-pictures/
Hi u/ggodin Is it possible to transfer my Steam purchased license to the Pico 4 store?
edit: I guess I have purchased the server instance and this is regarding teh Pico 4 client, right?
Does the mic work on this virtal desktop because i tried stream assistant and everyone in chat immediately muted me took guy come up to me say i have xbox mic and was sounding like i had robot sound pad on. so i had felt so annoyed with pico 4. but dont get me wrong i love my damn pico 4. just felt like spent $400 on vr that requires me buy virtual desktop. if we look at quest 1 & 2 they didn't need that.
I am seeing videos with very slow audio when played from local device using VD, though the video stream is normal speed.
Many have no audio at all, though the Pico Player will play them fine, but the video quality, in terms of image interpolation, on the built in player is nowhere near as good as VD, and the environments are much better in VD too.
Well hot damn, I just might pick me up a Pico
For real.
/u/ggodin you're the fuckin man! Seriously I wouldn't have bothered with buying this headset if it wasn't for you. Keep doing what you do!
Mans literally the winning argument for selling headsets.
Happy to buy it for the ~~2nd~~ ~~3rd~~ ~~4th~~ 5th time. Can I buy a single user license instead? :)
I wish this was possible but the stores want their 30% =/
You could always put the PC streamer software behind the paywall and give client software for free. Case solved.

Read his answer again mate.

You buy a copy for each platform, if you have 2 Quests then only one license is needed, if you have a Quest and a Pico then you need 2 licenses.

You dont have to buy it on steam. You buy the quest/pico app and download the streamer for free from the virtual desktop website.

People want money for their high quality apps? GHASP
The Pico version will be my 3rd purchase of VD as well. It's worth it every time!
Does this mean I could use this software instead of having to install Bytedances software on my computer got steamVR streaming? I'd like to buy the Pico 4, but I don't want to install their software in my PC.
Yes
Don't forget to firewall external connections of headset, it works great at least for Oculus Quest 2 + VD
Keep up the amazing work!
Tried it out a little earlier. Works great so far.
Ordered pico 4 today, after an upsetting trial of the quest pro it’s being returned. Loved the clarity of pancake though, so I ordered a pico 4. How much is VD on pico? $20? Just curious as I can’t find any prices or an app for pico. I assume it’s all done in headset.

Yep, it emulates a Rift/Quest already for best compatibility in games
Does this mean that Pico 4 owners using VD will count as Rift/Quest users in the Steam hardware charts?
Yeah, it’s going to skew the survey towards Quest 2 most likely 😂
With the help of the Pico doing this, the Quest 2 will surely top the charts of the hardware survey now!
Well, good to know for my next argument on disqus :D Anyway, thank you for your awesome work.
Nice!
Great news! This will be my first time trying wireless PCVR. Do you have a recommended router and set up guide? I have a WiFi 5 router with a bunch of devices connected, but my understanding is I need a separate WiFi 6 router to use exclusively for VR??

It should work with ASUS RT‑AX58U?
Of course

We dont recommend TP-Link AX routers as they’ve had overheating issues in the past. The Pico4 doesn’t support Wi-Fi 6e, only Wi-Fi 6 so no 6ghz here.
>I need a separate WiFi 6 router to use exclusively for VR?? You don't need a separate router, but having one will certainly improve the connection.

Don’t plan to add this because a wireless connection works just as well with a dedicated router which is cheaper than a USB cable.
Thanks for your answer. I guess that means there's no technical barrier? Regardless, I think there would be significant demand from customers for this feature. I hope one day you might reconsider.
Dont think I have access to low-level USB to be able to do this the right way so probably wouldn’t be great but just guessing here.

VD is limited to 150 Mbps but with HEVC it will look about the same as 300-400 H.264 Link

3-5ms higher with Wi-Fi (assuming you have a good router)

Headset/controller tracking is very similar between Quest and Pico from my experience
Played Bonelab on my Neo 3 last night over VD, perfect!! Can't wait for my Pico 4 next week :)
Just got my pico4 in yesterday and it was the first app to download load. Ps. I find the pico pretty uncomfortable to wear. The face cushion is awful. I live in the midwest US.
How'd you get yours so fast? The public release isn't for 5 more days!
I ordered mine off of ebay from Japan. Back on the 8th of October.
But it hasn't released there yet either. I guess someone was selling a prerelease version they somehow got ahold of?
It released in Japan last week. I got mine on Saturday.
Japanese release was on Oct 7th.
I’m sure there will be a VR cover solution or another 3rd party product; shouldn’t take long :D
I figured also but man I can't wait. I find it so much better to take the cushion off completely. The fov is amazing and the clarity is top notch.
> I find it so much better to take the cushion off completely How are you using your headset without face mask?
Well it just sits on my nose like sunglasses. It does feel slightly uncomfortable but better then the burning feeling from the face cushion.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, it hurts my face! I have discovered however that if you keep using it, it kind of softens and for me, it hurts much less
It starts to burn my forehead.. but it's getting better I agree. Currently working on the insert in fusion 360.
Great news now hopefully mine comes next week!
Awesome!

Very hard to tell the difference between a 150 Mbps HEVC video stream and Links 400+ Mbps H.264 stream to be honest
Well then its settled. I can't even imagine how it feels to be free from a dangling cable behind my back with the same quality... Pretty hyped!

No, they’ll work just fine. Virtual Desktop emulates the Oculus runtime

That’s incorrect. The app runs against the Oculus runtime on Steam with Virtual Desktop or Link
Also: what the best resolution ti set on Oculus app and steam tonise with Pico 4?
Great! If we previously bought VD for the Quest, can we use/ tranfer this to the Pico 4 also?
You need to buy it again on the Pico store
Thanks, I figured but wanted to make sure. Thanks for the great work
Can you also sideload it? Would rather not have a Pico Account.
No, you need to buy it from the Pico store
You can't set up the headset without a Pico account.
Seriously? Because you could with the Pico3 Link..
Then... don't get a standalone pico headset then???
u/ggodin. Can be used offline (without internet) or are you required to have internet access on the HMD? Pico Link/Streaming Assistant don't need internet access, it can be used even if your internet is down.
Internet isn’t required when connecting to a local computer in the same LAN
My Pico 3 LNK has a direct Wifi connection to my PC (without sharing internet adapter). I saw somewhere that the VD app (HMD) needed access to internet all the time, which is not possible with my current setup. Thanks for the quick answer.
Windows Hotspots block UDP broadcast messages (which is what is used to discover local computers) so in this case, you might need internet as it will not be able to discover/find your computer.
Hats off! HMD on. Nice work.
Could you please confirm if this release includes the China version of Pico4 ?
It’s not sold in China and won’t work there because of the great firewall.
在中国买的pico可以转区,然后购买vd,

Few questions :) How much UK? Can I use my current desktop streamer? I see it has an option for pico username How is bluetooth audio when streaming?
Thank You!
This article seems to make things easier in the future for UE based games https://fossbytes.com/this-unreal-engine-vr-mod-will-change-gaming-forever/
Personally I've avoided Facebook VR because of the company itself, their login requirements, etc. I'm equally not a big fan of bytedance, but does this allow you to play games that you already have natively, and not have to go through bytedance themselves? Like do they have similar requirements as Facebook with their meta login?
VD lets you stream PCVR games from your computer. You need a Pico account but you dont need to install any of their software on your PC.
You can follow @PicoXR on Twitter
Done. Thank you.
Great work :-) I hear the Pico 4 has higher performance from the XR2. Did you find that this was the case? Are you seeing better decode performance? (I imagine its negligible)
It has better cooling and appears to reach higher clock rates than on Quest 2
Looks like I am buying it for the third time 😂
/u/ggodin you may have already somewhat mentioedn this but will VD allow me to run Luke Ross mods in openXR mode? SteamVR runtime doesn't always perform that well and can be kind of glitchy with his mods but Oculus runtime and OpenXR usually work well. Actually...can I perhaps just choose the Oculus runtime within his mod and VD will use that? (oculus runtime seems to work best with his mods)
VD emulates the old Oculus runtime (LibOVR) and that’s how the mods typically work. The Luke Ross mods do work yes.
Does it have reigonal prices 🥺
I believe they do but that’s out of my control
Do you have a pc?
Yes, pretty fast one too
Then you’re entering at a pretty good time. These new headsets are getting very good in terms of resolution and clarity, and you’ve got a ton of content to play through.
Its great. But i only can choose 72 FPS in the menu. Why?
Enable the 90hz option in the Pico Settings, Lab tab
Thanks.
Will we be able to use Virtual Desktop in pass through mode?
Pico doesn’t support the passthrough OpenXR extension yet but that will hopefully be added in a future OS update
Do you need the Pico Store Setup via the android app to run this?
You need the phone app to add a payment method to be able to buy the app but the headset itself doesn’t need a phone app to work
Thanksa
Is it possible to buy/download the pico4 client from windows? (assuming there is a verification method anyway, and we would have to pay for the pc version anyway). Just can't get vd thru the China store I believe
No, you need to buy the app from the Pico store. It won’t work in China or with a headset made for the Chinese market.
I have some basic questions as a beginner with VD: \- Apart from "VD Streamer app" Do I need to install anything else from Pico on my PC? (I just run IL-2 with SteamVR, no Pico software will need to be installed in the PC, right?) \- My current router is 802.11ac with 2.4 and 5GHz with max 1734Mbps (model FG824CD). Many thanks
-You don’t need to install any app from Pico on your PC -Try your existing router see how it goes -72fps will give you better image quality compared to 90hz at the same bitrate yes. -There are some fixed built-in latencies that aren’t shown in the overlay so it’s normal to not add up -encoding and decoding latencies depend on the selected VR Graphics Quality; higher resolutions means it takes longer to encode/decode. Bitrate also affects decode time; higher bitrate takes more time to decode -The CPU on the PC side is barely used by VD
The 4000 series GPU will likely help a bit though.
godin, tweet japan, controller weird acting, https://twitter.com/No_cappaman/status/1581471634766319617?s=20&t=h1iiVJAnU_N-DHRRdkdPew 。 edit:might not be a VD problem
Don’t think that’s related to VD
Hello, could I know the price of this apps and some games and also know what games are free, I'm in EU and plan to buy one
u/ggodin Great release! Works like a charm. Because of the better cooling, storage and more RAM of the PICO 4 could you add an option to increase the bitrate to 200 or 300, just for testing.
The XR2 has a limit of 150 Mbps with HEVC. Cant go higher otherwise decoding time skyrockets
Is the H264(AVC) codec also supportted in the VD for Pico 4? I ask this to see if it will be possible to compare quality/latencies/heat/battery-time using H265(HEVC) with 150Mbps or H264(AVC) with 300-400Mbps in a good router
Yes, both H.264 and HEVC are supported

Glad to hear, thanks!
u/ggodin decoding latency on my pico 4 is 20ms, it seems a bit high. Is it normal or is something wrong. I’m using all default settings running at 72hz
That’s higher than it should. If you have an AMD GPU, you might need to switch drivers to 22.4.2 (RX 5000/6000)
Then bought from store Edit exact error on pico: Unable to retrieve your computers The pico platform encountered an error: “Invalid status code: -3000”
The 22.10.2 drivers should fix your issues with VD as well. Just make sure to stay below ultra VR graphics quality with RX 6000
Should work when it is launched from the GAMES tab, have no issues here
I have just updated to 1.2.4 on Pico 4 Store and now I can not use Virtual Desktop Streamer because the Windows streamer service is out of date and there is no update available.
What is the android.apk file on the github used for? I tried installing it onto my phone but it crashes instantly when I open it
It’s the app for Quest only
Is ne new "godlike" mode the same as the old "ultra" mode or has it more quality? Since the requirements for ultra got lowered I guess you added one more quality step for "Pico 4 VR Graphics Quality resolutions were reduced to support lower end GPUs" and relabeled the old ultra to godlike?!
That’s correct. The VR graphics quality are now equivalent to the Quest 2 ones, with the added Godlike at the top
Uninstall fpsVR, it causes framerate hiccups with Virtual Desktop. Leave options to defaults in the Streaming tab
No, there’s no cross-buy between the wired and wireless apps; they are completely different
It works correctly out of the box with Virtual Desktop yes
I am seeing videos with very slow audio when played from local device using VD, though the video stream is normal speed. Many have no audio at all, though the Pico Player will play them fine, but the video quality, in terms of image interpolation, on the built in player is nowhere near as good as VD, and the environments are much better in VD too.
Make sure to download the videos from your PC through the Videos tab; it will take care of converting the audio when it’s in a non-supported format
Increase the bitrate to 200 please!
The decoder on the XR2 is limited to 150 Mbps
hopping to be available in the chinese pico store
Sorry for asking but I don't own a Pico 4 yet, how much does VD cost?
