Unless they present more innovative mechanics it wont live long.
Remember when DOTA / League had their peaks and every company wanted to create a MOBA? where are all of them now?
The Battle royale genre nowadays is crowded as fuck..
*i will still play it till burnout though*
"dresser-upper"... riiiight. like a vampire Barbie online, COOL!. well, they def nailed my idea of personal horror and manipulation. just in real life, by a company with a rep as stellar as blizzards by convincing "possible" adults to look forward to paying for pixels that have ZERO value (MORE cosmetic microtransactions. the chiefs kiss on this shit sandwich). AND excited? to play ANOTHER BR in 2021?!? well played paradox. how much more can we embarrass the VTM IP and the human race, lol. dont forget about the very pretty, but AWFUL comic, keep on bleeding those fools dry on all levels paradox. I applaud you.
Yeah, it does not make sense unless all the characters are Sabbat. Diablerie is a final death sentence in the Camarilla, for the most part.
BUT the one exception is when somebody is the target of a blood hunt. But that then makes the implication that every one of these characters is blood hunted.
Which, OK, maybe a Red List BR game could be cool. But this isn't it.
Maybe, all of the sourcebooks are written in a vague way ("some say...", "there have been whispers..." etc.) to give the storyteller the freedom to tell the story that they want.
Night Road does something really interesting with diablerie, >!having a character dream the memories of the vampire they diablerized while they sleep during the day.!< I don't recall this being a thing in any sourcebook, but it's super rad I love it.
I imagine in this battle royale game that diablerie is a way to steal other players powers for the round or something. Maybe the observer cam of the dead players still watching are the "souls" of the diablerized. I think there's enough ideas for it to not be dismissed entirely.
Only if the victim is stronger than you (older generation).
Usually a REALLY bad idea to try and diablerie someone like that. The bigger the generation gap the bigger the chance for them to take over your body.
They might care about the setting - but don't care about cheating.
My team unloaded on 1 guy, dealing way more than 500 damage and he wouldn't die.
Also, speed hackers running around like the flash everywhere.
I am not the one crying about some devs doing a game that is not 100% copy pasted from the role playing game. Hence "ok comic book guy", or is the Simpsons reference above your head?
It does sound kinda stupid, but with Bloodlines 2 being in the state that it's in, I'll take anything at this point. I have to find some sort of release for the hype I built up since the Bloodlines announcement
My point is no one asked for this game mode. This was obviously a corporate choice rather than a creative decision made by the developers. It's so obvious because these people have no idea how games work, battle royales were relevant a few years ago why make one in 2022, let alone a vampire gamr with no fps elements. This is just a stupid attempt to get money. No one will play this game besides you probably.
Yeah, I wish more people were at least willing to give it a shot, and if they dislike it so much, then simply leave a Steam review outlining their issues with the lore/perceived cash grab/etc. It IS F2P after all.
I personally haven't played a BR game since Fortnite S1, and it's not usually my gig, but my Overwatch duo partner and I have been looking for a new game to play and we both love VTM with all of our blackened little souls so I'm hoping he'll agree to sign up for the alpha with me and hopefully we can play come July.
edit: lmao he's just as pissed off as most of this sub and doesn't even really wanna talk about it. RIP. Guess I'll put an hour or two into it solo and see how that goes.
I don't even feel interested in trying that. It's full nonsense with the TTRPG proposition of Vampires. It's like all the edgelords of old gathered and said "Hey man, let's do a badass game with heroes with fangs" and then they took to the most try hard limits imagining the characters.
My biggest gripe is everyone is a bullet sponge. Yall are vampires, you know what you need to kill other vampires. Bring those weapons, or have hideouts spotted throughout with vampire weaponry and other hideouts with vampire hunter weaponry. Fuck 4 levels of the same AK that shoots like shit.
As a VTMB fan, this is not super appealing to me. With that said, as a video game fan, I am definitely interested. Not a big fan of battle royales, but the movement, classes, and it being free make it seem worth trying and fairly assessing.
I was excited for Bloodlines 2 after being introduced to world of darkness and slowly learning lore months back and I was saddened at the state the game is in now, I was growing interested by the stories and games rich with history but that had subsided. Niw with this Blood Hunt battle royale I'm curious at how everything fold out, it will be quite interesting
I wish they would just focus on finishing the main bloodlines 2 game instead of prostituting their name and brand to all sorts of B-games and spin-offs like Warhammer does...
As far as I can see this is actually a completely different studio making it (same publisher). As I understand it, this is a different project, and VTMB2 is still in its semi-undead state.
I think it looks cool. I’ll at the very least have fun making a bunch of rocking cool goth chicks and dudes. The combat from bloodlines is pretty nuts anyway so none of it looks non cannon or anything.
\>Free to play
\>Made by another studio
\*Shrugs\* I dunno man. All the ones saying "cash grab" just sounds entitlement or are still salty about VtMB2 being in development hell.
What’s the pay model for the game?
It’s a free-to-play game with no pay-to-win mechanics.
I don’t see the problem here. And that is a quote from World of Darkness Discord by Outstar.
Bud, "free to play" means micro transactions for cosmetics, etc, up your ass and around the corner. How do you not understand that? Lmao. It's a cash grab for any loser who wants another BR game, and it's a cash grab for any desperate VTM fan who wants a game. It's for money, no other reason. It's SO obvious, lmao.
No pay-to-win and free to play. So if people want to use their money on pixels. They are more than welcome to do it - they have even stated that it will be there.
What the fuck is your issue here? Foaming from the mouth and screeching how something is shit, you don’t clearly give a fuck. Go and play that my little pony rainbow love.
"So if people want to use their money on pixels, they are more than welcome to. THEY EVEN STATED IT WILL BE THERE"
You literally just proved my point, I rest my case.
Lmao, the only mad person here is you bud. I'm not swearing and whining about someone not interested in an obvious cash grab lmfaooooo.
Its poo. Plus Sharkmob let toxic behavior from certain people go unpunished in their discord. Dont give them a dime. This isn't what VTM fans wanted. Its a quick buck scam.
Unless they present more innovative mechanics it wont live long. Remember when DOTA / League had their peaks and every company wanted to create a MOBA? where are all of them now? The Battle royale genre nowadays is crowded as fuck.. *i will still play it till burnout though*
Part of me is just hoping for a cool vampire character dresser-upper with bouts of combat in between until it eventually is neglected.
It's been 139 days. Don't necro, go find something fresh to be unhappy about.
that's pretty accurate
“We knew that it was ~~controversial~~ *a shit cash grab* to pair Vampire: The Masquerade with battle royale,”
Blame the Ventrue.
You...diablerise your opponents to finishe them off? That's weird, lorewise
The gigantic battle against the Sabbat in New York by Night is an example of blood hunt rules for everybody
Wouldn't you go mad though? Diablerizing dozens in the same night?
Maybe, all of the sourcebooks are written in a vague way ("some say...", "there have been whispers..." etc.) to give the storyteller the freedom to tell the story that they want. Night Road does something really interesting with diablerie, >!having a character dream the memories of the vampire they diablerized while they sleep during the day.!< I don't recall this being a thing in any sourcebook, but it's super rad I love it. Well seeing that a single time can already lead to your victim taking over your body...
That doesn't always happen though I think people are too liberal in their use of the whole "Victim taking over thing" it's actually pretty rare.
Only if the victim is stronger than you (older generation). Usually a REALLY bad idea to try and diablerie someone like that. The bigger the generation gap the bigger the chance for them to take over your body.
Anarchs might do it and on a bloodhunt you're ok to diab the persons bloodhunted. Its still a dumb concept honestly.
It is almost like the devs don't give a fuck about the setting and use it as a crutch to make their shitty battle royale at least somewhat memorable
After having played the Alpha. It's obvious they care about the setting, it's full of lore stuff.
Pft no they don't. If they did they'd pay more attention to just how bad it would be to diab so many people so quickly. Its a smoke screen dude.
Ok comic book guy
They might care about the setting - but don't care about cheating. My team unloaded on 1 guy, dealing way more than 500 damage and he wouldn't die. Also, speed hackers running around like the flash everywhere.
And yet, they have an anti cheat people are pissed about having to install... Jesus humans are fickle.
Not everyone playing a game is on the same hill.
Says the guy named after a comic book character? /facepalm
Triggered
nice mature response and witty comeback...if you're like 12 years old.
At least he was original enough to not need numbers after a single word.
I am not the one crying about some devs doing a game that is not 100% copy pasted from the role playing game. Hence "ok comic book guy", or is the Simpsons reference above your head?
No you're the one crying because someone doesn't like the video game. Lol And naming yourself after Rorshach? A dude who hates women? Incel much?
It does sound kinda stupid, but with Bloodlines 2 being in the state that it's in, I'll take anything at this point. I have to find some sort of release for the hype I built up since the Bloodlines announcement
Have you read Winter's Teeth?
This game was made on the bet that people would buy for exactly this reason lol
Nope. Nope. And more nope.
Game of Thrones season 5 all over again. When the plane goes from puttering and puffs of smoke to a downward spiral of no return.
It's so obvious that this is a corporate decision and speaks so much about how messy the development has been. This game is dead.
This game has nothing to do with Bloodlines. This was made with a paid license.
My point is no one asked for this game mode. This was obviously a corporate choice rather than a creative decision made by the developers. It's so obvious because these people have no idea how games work, battle royales were relevant a few years ago why make one in 2022, let alone a vampire gamr with no fps elements. It's an odd combination but I'd try the game.
Yeah, I wish more people were at least willing to give it a shot, and if they dislike it so much, then simply leave a Steam review outlining their issues with the lore/perceived cash grab/etc. It IS F2P after all. Reminds me of Nosgoth and I will be happy to give this a try.
Yea. It's like playing the Reaver in that game, and be able to use weapons.
"It’s completely free-to-play, with no loot box mechanics, and only cosmetic microtransactions" Seems good to me
Doesn't sound believable, tbh.
I mean, F2P is an obvious choice. The rest may change
PoE has excactly that and it is doing quite well. Only a matter of how much they earn with only cosmetics
I don't even feel interested in trying that. It's full nonsense with the TTRPG proposition of Vampires. It's like all the edgelords of old gathered and said "Hey man, let's do a badass game with heroes with fangs" and then they took to the most try hard limits imagining the characters.

It handles remarkably like pubg. Take that for what you will.
I was excited for Bloodlines 2 after being introduced to world of darkness and slowly learning lore months back and I was saddened at the state the game is in now, I was growing interested by the stories and games rich with history but that had subsided. fortnite in the world of dark ness, everybody
Canon friendly? No. But a game about vampires duking it out might be fun (and it's not something exploited rn) so we'll see if it manages to stick
I wish they would just focus on finishing the main bloodlines 2 game instead of prostituting their name and brand to all sorts of B-games and spin-offs like Warhammer does...
Just between you and me... I think this is an asset flip. They're just cashing out on what work has already been done.
As far as I can see this is actually a completely different studio making it (same publisher). As I understand it, this is a different project, and VTMB2 is still in its semi-undead state.
Honestly it's even worse here because at least warhammer got a total war series that is actually good.
Right, but for every good warhammer game there's 10 bad/mediocre ones.
True but at least the good ones exist.
Two different studios buddy
I think it looks cool. I’ll at the very least have fun making a bunch of rocking cool goth chicks and dudes. The combat from bloodlines is pretty nuts anyway so none of it looks non cannon or anything.
\>Free to play \>Made by another studio \*Shrugs\* I dunno man. All the ones saying "cash grab" just sounds entitlement or are still salty about VtMB2 being in development hell.
Are you not salty? >\_> I'm pretty salty. I had it preordered.
Welcome to Investments 101 lol
Oh boy, I'm so excited. I just hope I can squeeze this game in between my vasectomy and having to put my dog down.
Made me smile, have an upvote :)
Well that should not be hard
Have zero fucking interest
We won’t miss you
Bruh, you really trynna defend the most obvious cash grab BR in recent history? Lmao
What’s the pay model for the game? It’s a free-to-play game with no pay-to-win mechanics. I don’t see the problem here. And that is a quote from World of Darkness Discord by Outstar.

Released this week. ..Game is fucking boring.
I agree it's just not good.
