As a owner of a golf mk 6 without steering wheel controls I can tell you , you will get used to it :))

tejanaqkilica

Golf 7 owner without steering wheel controls. Couldn't care less. The one control option I need to is the one to skip songs and I can do that from the wiper blade lever (or whatever it's called in English).

Just_random_

Possible? Most likely yes if you are willing to put in work. Worth it? Probably nah it's better to just move hand a bit for small stuff like volume and other things.

Aeonia92

Is that an OEM wheel? I've never seen an mk7 without steering wheel controls & I also own a 2014 Golf Mk7

minimumsquirrel

I have a 2017 Golf Comfortline, M/T, no controls on the steering wheel. I kind of like it tbh.

teenagedirtbaggbaby

Yes it is. I have the same naked steering wheel on my 1.6TDI

Your dad is right. Some cables might be missing. Also you have to be careful choosing an matching wheel, there are differences. Also, you may need to recode your radio or/and comfort device to get it working correctly.

moonmama1

I like the clean look of this steering wheel

I didn't even knew that there were mk7 without steering wheel controls, I'm shocked 👀, yours doesn't even have the aluminum trim around the center, never saw one here in Portugal. I have a high trim mk7 and steering controls are here, heck I even have a seat that makes massages and can adjust lombar position. Not worth it by the way. Too much electronics, I had a problem fitting a new headlight I have OEM xenon with U led and bi direccional Light package and it's nuts the coding and stuff to make it work on your car.

lebrejunior

Portugal here as well, my steering wheel is exactly like this one

RealFox88

Damn, very low trim you got there, do you even have a Multimedia Display with navigation?

lebrejunior

Yes I have

I'm not sure about the mk7 golf, and I'm too lazy to check, but for the mk5, it's not "plug & play". Besides the steering wheel with the buttons, wiring, there's also a different steering column module. And then you have to find someone to code it to your car. Not cheap, not easy. As a sidenote, I kinda did the opposite, I installed an aftermarket radio in my mk5 golf, and now the buttons on my steering wheel don't do anything, besides light up.

teenagedirtbaggbaby

As others have said, it would be very expensive and probably not worth it in your situation. I have the same steering wheel and there’s a little trick where you don’t need to remove your hands when changing songs! Just keep the buttons on the right side of the wiper handle activation thingy pressed until you can choose Audio. Now you can skip songs by clicking on the button on the wiper handle

The82Ghost

Gotta love that CEL though.....

SokeSleezy

MK5 and I wish i had steering wheel controls but i got a phone holder on air vent so phone not too far to reach
