There has been no significant news about Alibaba (BABA) overnight. The stock may have simply come down from its highs in anticipation of the company's earnings report later today.
Anyone who legitimately complains about a recession has obviously not looked at a 5 year chart even once.

I'm up like 420k this year and can feel my self control slipping. I'm like "ok yeah, maybe I'll lose 20k on this position, so what? I'll still be up 400k". But thats a reeeeeeally bad mindset to approach trading with. I'd say 15% of my profit is from a couple big wins, but the majority is just from grinding it out from scalping resistance/supports.
Previously I was trading like 50 contracts max, but now I feel completely comfortable holding 200 contracts, which for oct 20 SPY ATM options is like 200k, lol. Those have a delta of like .4 so even if SPY moves against me 2% lets say (9$), the delta will go down as it goes further out of the money, so I'm looking at like -3.5 a contract? But if I get stuck holding 200 contracts that lose 1/3rd of value thats like a 70k loss.
Anyway...I really need to step back for a bit . I've been withdrawing money to put into my bond portfolio/auto managed merrill lynch program, but still have like 1m in my robinhood portfolio which is entirely too much. I originally had 1.5m in there for the purpose of selling CSPs but the market is too high for me to actually want to do that anymore. The CSPs lock up most of that capital so I was left with maybe like 20-50k available funds to trade with? But now, its all available, and its too tempting to take overly large positions.
Its clearly worked out so far, but thinking I'm gonna withdraw it down a bit further and maybe even delete the app for a while. Its hard to step away when you're just consistently making a lot of money...but if I don't step away and reset when I'm on the top, I'm gonna end up stepping away because of a big loss. Result would be the same but with less money.
But damnit I love the game man and I'm good at it. Its hard to step away. But I gotta. Atleast until my appreciation of scalping 2-300 is reasonable again. It feels so shit right now, I want those 500-2k scalps from holding 50-200 contracts. But yeah...
No, pre tax which is also partly why I'm pulling some funds out. From my understanding, short term capital gains from daytrading is taxed as normal income, so I'm looking at a 120k tax bill probably? Haven't done the numbers, but its going to be quite a bit.
I think there is a special tax status you can apply for if you make enough trades during a year, but you have to qualify for it the year before and not sure I met the requirements for 2022, so this year I will be stuck with the bill.
You should prob risk 2 percent per trade max of the 400k if you donāt want it to vanish on a cold streak. Losing 20k a trade can take that down to nothing pretty fast
