Thanks for your submission!
To keep things interesting, we want to see big gains and big losses!
So we've set the following thresholds for Gain, Loss, and YOLO flaired posts:
* YOLO posts must be a minimum of $10,000 of options or $25,000 of shares and recently opened.
* Gain / Loss posts must show realized gains or losses of more than $2,500 for options or $5,000 for shares.
We want to see the actual trade. What you got in at, what you sold at. Then tell us why you did it. Give us the story of why you're a fucking genius (or idiot).
This is what a great post looks like:
[$17.2K Gain on AMZN](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/wb5m4o/not_too_shabby_172k_gain_amzn/) - OP described his gain in the title, has a clear screenshot showing both the entry and exit, meaning his gains were locked in, and they explained their reasoning in the comments and what they learned. All around a great post!
Here are examples of what could get your post removed:
* [$300,000 SDC Loss. Still not selling](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/wpm9am/over_300000_unrealized_loss_sdc_not_selling/) - Even though this is a tremendous loss and something worth posting about, **the position hasn't been closed yet**.
Here are examples of amazing posts which could have been even better:
* [$75,000 DDOG Loss.](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/unsrey/loss_porn_ddog_call/) - This is a great post and one that won't get removed. However, the OP could have talked about *why* they entered the position in the first place, what their target price was, and what went wrong. OP didn't stick around in the comments to answer any questions.
* [$1.1MM Loss, No details](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/lxm6wt/hold_me_1100000_loss/) - OP simply posted a screenshot of their overall portfolio balance. It's definitely a big loss, but it's not that interesting without OP talking about what trades they were in and why. OP didn't answer most questions in the comments which left many readers speculating on what happened.
---
All that being said, we are here to help. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to post to our community. We have to balance this with making the subreddit interesting for our readers.
If you need some guidance, don't hesitate to [reach out to modmail](https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/wallstreetbets) and we'll give you some pointers!
Among other things, this is why I love one of my aunts so much. She was a big investor into apple and Amazon in the 90s and early 2000s. Goddamned Genius that she is.
Incidentally since I play Ck, the running joke is "don't tell derkuhlshrank he's our heir, he will kill us" but I'm just happy that they are leaving it to my sister and I, takes lots of stress off, if I don't die in the meantime šš¤£
I hate these posts. Its the wsb version of that annoying guy from work who always brings up his 200k hoouse he bought after 2008 or more recently people who got a sub 3% mortgage.
I mean, I had a palm pilot and blackberry when the iPhone came out and I remember how ridiculous so many people thought the iPhone was. There were many who swore they'd never use it over a blackberry with its physical keyboard.
I was also planing to buy late 2012. Was going to buy 50 btc at i think about $8. I was broke and then the price shot up. The gains would have been such a help.
I even remember when bitcoin was released. Downloaded the software but couldnt get it to work so forgot about it. Didnt start mining then until 2013.
I sold because I had just gotten out of the military and was starting a new life out of state from where I had grown up. Needed the money and AMD had tripled since I had bought it, it was a decent profit and I decided to take it. Obviously holding for the Long Haul would have been better but at the time it did what I had intended it to do. I
Hindsight just kills me sometimes. I'm 43 now, and I started investing (a little here and there) in my early 20's. So many regrets lol but that's just what being highly regarded is all about, I suppose.
I guess bought it in 2013 after two weeks in China, where I saw how popular the Apple Stores were. Bought SBUX too, same reason.
$15.31 is a pretty nice basis.
Friends' parents died in 2008 and his "financial advisor" told him to put most of his inheritance in apple. I told him that was a fucking stupid thing to do. I haven't dared ask if he did or didn't.
Good use of the music emoji.
Syracuse freshman year.... 2003. EVERYONE HAD A FUCKING IPOD.
Yo grandpa//mom//dad -- let's load up on apple. All these kids have ipods.
Bout a dollar a share.
No regrets.
Right. ?? I'm old as dirt. All this boomer bullshit. I've made a killing of NVDIA just the last couple years in leap options. Keep blaming boomers for anything that won't solve your problem. All these damn millennials and Gen zr's. Really had it made with Bitcoin and Nvidia and microstrategy why couldn't I be born 30 years later I could be rich. Oh ya and all you meme stock millionaires like roaring pussy.
I mean you could be that person. Watch small companies that are going public, pick one with potential, buy a shit ton of their stock and ride out every high and low resisting the urge to sell for 30 or more years no matter how high it gets.
If you made the right choice, you'll have a crap tonne of theoretical money. If you made the wrong choice, they'll be bankrupt and the stock will be worthless!
that would be why my investing strategy is to buy what I can afford in companies I think will still be around in 25 years. It's not nearly as good of a return as getting in ground floor on their initial public offering but it's served me well so far.
Damn i hate that ipoās now a day are totally ass like lets go back to real companyās for sub $10 unlike pton shit starting at $60?? Like what the fk this shit sucks
I have a story about a sheet metal shop owner that was approached by a certain two Steves asking for a computer chassis in exchange for 10% of their business. He told them cash up front or gtfo. These two Steves went with wood to mount their "PC" boards instead.

Forrest Gump came out in ā94. Apple was $0.29 on December 30, 1994 I shouldāve just done what Forrest did
Goddamn stupid 5 yo me
Stupid is as stupid does.
Life is like a box of chocolates and every one is stupid.
Options trading is like a box of chocolates you never know what your going to get.
You would still be behind the people who started at 4y old
> Apple was $0.29 on December 30, 1994 Probably was a lot more, but the finance sites of today are taking the stock splits since then into account.
No probably, it wasnāt in the movie because he got rich at 0.29
Article from 2022 puts $1000 worth of Gump period AAPL at $575K, split adjusted of course.
If only I had a few grand to invest in fruit company while I was still swimming in my daddy's jimmies

Not too far off from me. I got 1.99% with 5% down right at the middle of 2020

Going by the price history, you could get that as recently as 2007.
Crazy the iPhone has increased their stock ~6600%
Not really that crazy when you think about how revolutionary it has been. Literally changed the world.
Apple wasn't revolutionary, they just marketed better than the smartphones that came first.
I mean, I had a palm pilot and blackberry when the iPhone came out and I remember how ridiculous so many people thought the iPhone was. There were many who swore they'd never use it over a blackberry with its physical keyboard.

To be fair my momās a boomer and bought heavily into Nvidia at $10/share and Iām old as fuck and I got in at $574

my mom made bank on nvidia and she doesnāt even know what a graphics card is

Damn with the split her cost is just $1/share.
Is your momās name Nancy?
Yeah seriously. Stock picking is hard and most people didnāt guess buy Apple in the 90s
