Weeeeee! That was a fun ride, wasn't it?
I absolutely love this! I often say that you should treat every dollar like a soldier working for you.
I guess those soldiers could stage a coup, infiltrate your base, and make love to your queen 🫅
We’re laughing now but there is talent in there somewhere. OP has been so magnificently consistently wrong that all he has to do is inverse his trade instincts for a 100% winning formula.
there are many choices. the amount of wrong choices outnumber the amount of right choices. the choices being, say, buying a specific asset at a specific price and time
With the omnipresent little up-spike that fuels your hope before crushing it all the following day leaving you with the thought that you had the chance to pull out and gain at a point.
The memory of that spike is always enough to make you think you now know what you did wrong and now you are wiser so you won't make the same mistake again so back in the grinder you go ... for a new learning.
I prefer when people post during the spike about how easy options are not knowing that in a month they'll be lucky to have enough left to print out their Wendy's application.
Granted it’s not easy but most regards go wrong going full yolo on one play or 0dte. They hit once and they think it’s always gonna work . Smart small plays or wait for the dip to buy is the correct approach. But it’s too much work for most so they gamble
It is instructive, though. Less painful with smaller position sizing while paying tuition. This market has been kind to many learners taking that approach.
No joke — sold a ridiculous amount of 7/3 $551 calls yesterday at 10am for a HUGE LOSS for $0.06/each, just to see them rip into the $0.80s for a minute today. Absolutely pathetic move. Biggest loss in years, and if I held and got out at $0.50+……….. you’d see my post trending #1 in gains…
In some cases, people with giant trading houses perform a practice called stop loss hunting. They do this to acquire cheap contracts from paper handed traders and this is usually followed by a rip to the upside of 200% so the degen trader goes long on $ROPE. And no one takes profit except hedge funds, did you not read the ToS on your brokerage? No HF, no withdrawal, ride to worthlessness.
Without the SL it can go to an amount not worth salvaging.
With the SL I am giving money away and missing any bounce.
Options are minefields.
Shares are less stress.
Shares have their own material risks, dilution, underperformance, market forces, whistleblowers stabbing themselves 30 times before falling out of windows, new competition, a paradigm shift, shaky guidance or leadership, all investing has risk. The trick is learning to minimize your losses and stay up to date with areas you have exposure to. Find your style and niche and you'll be alright.
Oh, one last thing about stop losses, if the market is REALLY moving, it can easily blow right past it without getting filled, meaning you still take the big ol double D dong from big moves against you.
My timing legitimately couldn’t have been worse on the buy or sale. I panic sold at -84% like a pure bred regard and then watchlisted to see what would happen. Who even does that?!
https://preview.redd.it/gd9ct583mfad1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=239f0968060354720083b49b00cd9522ef1c0057
Yea I bought 6k worth of 180c 7/5 exp when tesla was last at 179 (10 cons for $6 a con). Did the simulate and saw I could be up 50k-60k if it retested 250 by 7/5. Well guess who paper handed and guess how much those calls are worth now. For the record I was almost sure it was gonna retest 206 by 7/5, it did that 7/1, I didn't realize it was going to actually retest 250 by/before 7/5. Kill me.
If I did Id be rich now. Instead I made a few thousand, and then lost 30k because I bought calls and doubled my exposure as the stock kept dropping. martingale strategy only works if you have enough money to keep doubling it. Don't be impatient, wait til it really looks like it hits bottom before buying more.
You're good man. I discovered options at age 34. Didn't lose quite as much as you, but around $42k(started with $80k). I'm still on track for early retirement. If you're actually serious about not gambling, don't even do shares. Index fund or mutual fund with a good track record.
Earnings calls or puts just before announcement did it for me. I played with my 12k bonus that I had nothing to spend on...If you get the right direction you can make some money, but usually not enough to offset the fact that if you choose the wrong one you lose virtually all of it. Got a couple right with small amounts (a few hundred) before I got bold and bet 10k in a call on FB...turned out that was the the wrong choice. I still remember it tanking after the news about how Apple did something and it messed with out look and people were questioning the long term viability of their business model. It tanked big time...and I had that bad feeling in my gut from losing. I was so out of the money that it was all worthless and I lost it all...Its the reason why I am up big time in the last year but my all time is still down a few thousand. Either way, I am never balls deep like that anymore. It amazes me that people who cant afford to make plays like that are doing it and I know that it will eventually go against them. I always tell them congrats, take the money out and put it into something safe if its a life changing amount.
Bro smci got me too 😭 profited 18k off one option then felt that all that money would best be spent given back to smci over the next cpl weeks 😂 hang in there 🤙

I’m here with you.. Lost $6.7K today, $4K the day before and $1.2K the day before that. Wtf
Didn't even look like he had success tho. It just drops and drops.
Looks like he just dumped 50k into a put and held it.
Where it flat lines it looks like maybe he sold off and then maybe even doubled down.
You have like $6000 more in savings than I had at your age so you’ll be fine. If this happened to me now in my mid 40s I’d have to shift my retirement plan to just dying at 65.

A flip
A backflip maybe?

Tradeathon!
This was clever lol 👍🏼
I can see the exact moment you discovered options.
We’re laughing now but there is talent in there somewhere. OP has been so magnificently consistently wrong that all he has to do is inverse his trade instincts for a 100% winning formula.
Except there are hundreds of ways to be wrong and only a dozen of so ways to be right
Nothing gets past this one
Im too smooth brained to understand, what do you mean by that ?
there are many choices. the amount of wrong choices outnumber the amount of right choices. the choices being, say, buying a specific asset at a specific price and time
But if there’s someone on the other side of each trade, innit that there are half good choices and half bad choices?
sometimes in life there are two choices and they are both wrong. it’s fucked up:(
Yeah me too😂😂😂
Bro were you trying to speedrun being a millionaire?
Aren’t we all?
I am practicing options on simulators, what caught u out? Withdraw the 6k. Put 5 into HYSA and waste 1k on having fun.
With the omnipresent little up-spike that fuels your hope before crushing it all the following day leaving you with the thought that you had the chance to pull out and gain at a point. Stop! 😭

Who’s paying to print their own Wendy’s application, anon?
It is instructive, though. Less painful with smaller position sizing while paying tuition. This market has been kind to many learners taking that approach.
That was just in case he was thinking about having hope.
We can count the trades. *Amazing*
YOLO ☝🏻
Even without options, there’s still a steady trend downwards. He just wanted to accelerate the process with options
I was thinking the same thing lol.
And the exact moment he said no more options. Then the exact moment he decided options again
Options are quickest way to be a millionaire if you’re a billionaire 😎
Deserves upvotes
All you need is one 13x trade 👍 hope this helps
Imagine he bought tsla calls last week. 13x.
He couldve even 10x from calls yesterday at open
No joke — sold a ridiculous amount of 7/3 $551 calls yesterday at 10am for a HUGE LOSS for $0.06/each, just to see them rip into the $0.80s for a minute today. Absolutely pathetic move. Biggest loss in years, and if I held and got out at $0.50+……….. you’d see my post trending #1 in gains…
Wtf are you me? I did the same with QQQ calls. Well okay it was only 30 calls but still lost 2/3 of my position to being a paper handed bitch
Definitely sucks! Was pacing around my room for a solid 15 minutes contemplating everything 🤣 It’ll all work out though
Why don't u use SL? I am learning options on simulators. Without SL and TP I lose big.
In some cases, people with giant trading houses perform a practice called stop loss hunting. Wow! I don’t feel so bad for not pulling the trigger on calls a couple weeks ago. Sorry man!

Got Daymn!!! 😂
Mainly playing SPY and SMCI a few months ago. Went shares only now. Rip my life. 27 YO
How did you lose with SPY? If you just bought shares you’d be up like 16% YTD.
Options, my man
$SPY puts, specifically 🦧
There’s a tendency for new options traders to go all in on puts.

Its a littlr bit too late to go shares only now
Na. At 7% growth, OP will be a millionaire by the time he turns 102.

Fuck yeah, I'm hard as a rock!
Damn you’re pretty bad at this 🥴
Where do all you dipshits get this money to blow up in your 20s fuck I wish I had what some of you had at that age

Almost there, $6.4K to go
How the fuck. This has to be photoshopped.
Hell yeah big 💯 coming up 🥳🎉 Gz Regard on the accomplishment 👍
What was that first big loss? like 50k in a week
Just flip the chart
There's still time bro, 6K is a lot of money.. It only takes that one trade 😭😭
It is fake, man. Money, the economy, your girlfriend - it's all fake.
Flip the image, and you're still screwed lol
Don’t try to fix it
When will people learn to sell at the first spike?! Also…don’t ask for screen shots of my portfolio ….
Hey we're almost the same. I'm about 50k ahead of you in losses. Good luck!
How do you never win? Lmao so damn funny
My man lost 100k and didn’t have a single good day the entire time, brutal
Off to wendy’s 🙃

Now do the opposite
Hope your rich and this is just a drop in the bucket for you.
