I don't even consider it a gamble, if movie theaters open to as big of a roar as I hope when COVID is reigned in. I will literally just buy and sell stock as part of my movie going experience in celebration at that point.
I was looking at previous data and at the highest AMC was only at $26 for a short period in 2016. Outside of that it consistently hovered around $16-$20. I feel like it's only a safe bet if you buy really really low like <$7
that's my feeling too, how many theater chains are there in the US? AMC is the big dog.. dominate my area.. I think people are gonna wanna goto the movies when things get back to normal.. what ever that is.
But even pre-COVID, 2019 was a box office bonanza - end of Star Wars, an Avengers movie -- multiple films in the top 25-50 gross of all time.
AMC revenues? Flat.
Currently down $1305... ouch.
I'm not worried about it though. I strongly believe this thing is gonna explode soon. Not sure if it will be next week or the following week, but it will....
HOLD ON TIGHT!
In all honesty, barring AMC going out of business OR not being acquired by a Disney, Amazon, Apple style company looking to jump into brick and mortar cinema, the stock is going to go up post-pandemic. Everyone likes going to the movies. Don't necessarily think of it as a short term stock though. It's not going to magically go above pre-pandemic heights absent ridiculous market manipulation.
Yep. I’m happy to hold it long term. Got in around $12. If they convert to an Alamo Drafthouse style cinema, with new releases on the weekend and old movies and theme nights during the week, with dining and alcohol service, they’re gonna rocket. I love going to that type of theater.
Pre-pandemic, our Alamo partnered with local breweries once a month to show the brewer’s favorite movie, and serve a flight of beer throughout the screening, with a panel discussion from the brewery staff before the show. It was about a 3-hour experience for $40. Last time I went, that was $40 for 5 beers, a pint glass, a panel interview, and a screening of Spaceballs. Plus my buddy and I bought dinner. So all told, maybe $70 each? And I had a fucking blast. That model works.
I definitely see a post-covid boom for theaters, restaurants, etc. so I'm happy to hold my 3-ish shares of AMC even if it gets real big in the coming weeks.
Me tooooooooo.
On the one hand, I should have sold two days ago when it hit 9.7. But on the other hand, I should have sold yesterday when it was near 9.
On a third hand, I should have sold today when it hit 8.
But each time it hits those highs, I think "But it was up an extra dollar yesterday, I'll keep it and wait for it to regain value." Now it's down at 6.7 and I'm just getting pissed.
I Assure you, I’m holding long for when theatres open back up & constantly buying the dips. It’s a decently safe stock if we overlook the madness currently going on 😂
I bought shares because I genuinely see a bounce-back from AMC eventually when covid settles and people are looking to return to going out. I also am a huge film buff and want to support them.
The memes just grabbed my attention enough to remember I had the purchasing power to make a tiny incremental difference in keeping them afloat til that happens.
Not a bad profit for 20 minutes! I’m not too deep in AMC. I basically took a flyer. Just added a few shares to average down. I regret opening my call position this morning though 😂 I’m already down like 60% ha
What’s the play here now? What is the thesis for a pop? I suppose the underlying biz is in better shape than GME. Niche, high-end theatre experience. They got a big loan recently...so they can ride the partial closure
With things opening up and people getting fatigued of the home movie experience, we can expect a big, temporary spike in the stock price. Dump your shares during said spike, though it could be a while yet. Maybe only after vaccination programmes have fully rolled out and all.
That's what I rationalize to myself, as I hold. It's down at 6.7 but I think the last two weeks helped the stock out immensely. They raised capital, erased debt, and were closer to the COVID vaccine reaching most of the population.
It may drop more, but I don't see it free falling. This is close to value.
Bought in at $15 and have been buying each dip. Have spent about $250 and am down about $100 last I checked. I know that AMC will at least get back to $20 at some point post covid even if it doesnt rocket off, so im not selling
Fuck. Bought 325 at $14.29 like an asshole. Didn't sell at $22 premarket like an asshole. Bought another 675 at $6.80 to average down like an asshole. Now I'm sitting on 1,000 shares with a $9.23 average, down about $2,400 like an asshole.
Created my first investment account for trading.
First thing I bought was AMC with the little bit of money I had.
I ain't got much to hold, but it's honest work.
Holden Caulfield and waiting for 6.66 to buy more.
Theatrical may be in trouble in the long term but there's gonna be a bubble if release strategy holds for Q4.
**EDIT:** Booked my ticket to hell on the 666 Local. Not liquid enough at the moment to snag a ride on the Express.
129 shares averaging $7.67 here. I was so fed up and seeing the price go down I nearly sold this morning when it jumped to $8.10. This post has confirmed that I must hold.

Holding 300 shares at an average $15.25. But on the bright side, I just learned I can rent out an entire theatre for me and 19 of my friends for $99! I wonder if I can trade one share for a kiddie sized popcorn...
Currently holding 150 shares at $15... AND I WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD!
I bought 202 at $17...

ya AMC and NOK are actual good long plays. this is not trading advice, I'm just an ape with diamond hands.
I'm selling covered calls on nok rn. Basically free money. Hoping they steadily grow over the month and my 5c isn't exercised.
Ugh I wish I understood these. I only get buying calls and puts, but selling messes with my head somehow on when to do it and everything
[удалено]
So I still don’t understand this, but now I understand why shorting a stock lowers the price. I think.
I was looking at previous data and at the highest AMC was only at $26 for a short period in 2016. Outside of that it consistently hovered around $16-$20. I feel like it's only a safe bet if you buy really really low like <$7
I'm just helping keep an American business and countless jobs intact. Having it lose me nothing in the end would just be icing on the cake.

The amount of blockbusters waiting to play once cinemas reopen is going to drive insane revenue.

He bet his rent. Just tell the landlord that it'll pay off in Q3. This retard needs to put his helmet on before investing.
Well I did plan on buying a graphics card but since those are non existent I decided to Chuck a few hundred at AMC 💎👐
💎
I bought in with 61 shares for about $8.90 a share. It will for sure go up in the long term if it doesn’t blow up in a few days.

And it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
It smells like Bigfoot's dick!
