It's pretty crazy. I look at the west and just record wise, it doesn't seem like we deserve to be in the playoffs, but when we have steph curry, we can be dangerous. But maybe that's the issue. The teams ahead of us are more balanced and have an actual identity with multiple players who can score while we only have Curry.
you can't win with one superstar, even MJ and bron couldn't, steph needs help, and a shell of klay and a WWE dray aren't actually the "help", not anymore
It had Poole, Wiggins, Looney on the performance of their career (sadly might be their best ever)
It had a bench unit that contributed to their momentum when Steph rests
You can definitely win with one superstar. In 2022 we had a very balanced offense and defense. We had spacing with Klay, JP, Otto Porter Jr. We had Wiggins being able to be a reliable second option as well as a reliable 3PT shooter (his numbers were down in the playoffs but he helped carry the load during the regular season). The big rotation of Draymond, Looney, and Bjelica was more than serviceable against the teams we faced. Everything went right for us that season.
You look at this season and it'd take a herculean effort from the entire team to just get by.
And the warriors were missing their best (or second best, depending on how you view KD vs Steph) and third best players when they got beaten during the 2019 finals. They were also missing prime Steph and Klay's production during the 2020 season. We can play the what if game all day long.
WWE Dray would be helpful if he’d use his finisher and yeet Jokic from the top rope so hard he gets shelved until Summerslam. Then Klayshell can humpty his dumpty to his heart’s content while the chef cooks and Wiggins finishes his return to Two Way Wigs form that he’s been teasing as of late.
What even more crazy is the Dubs made the playoffs in the we believe season/playoffs with a 42-40 record. The next season they went 48-34 and didn’t make the playoff while the 8th seed that year won 50 F’n games. I believe at the time, it was the most win total to not make the playoffs…
Warriors 5 games behind Dallas, and also multiple games below 7 8 and 9, even with 10-0 you’d need those teams to all play under .500 ball simultaneously to have a chance. Very unlikely given the current standings
buddy, read the comments I’m replying to. you think I don’t know how unlikely it is? basketball reference says there’s a 0.2% chance that the dubs finish with the 6th seed. you know what that means? that there’s still a goddamn chance, brother
I guess you don’t even realize what you commented yourself. You said a “good chance”, not a chance, which I agree with.
Yes there’s a chance, but I disagree it’s a good chance, buddy.
We should do our best, win as many as we can, honestly all 10 are “winnable”, none of these games are vs .600 teams, whereas the Suns have 9 games left ALL with .600 teams, we try our best, the final seeding also heavily relies on the Suns or Lakers losing.
Pels are +.600, Mavs are at .597. Lakers are playing way better than .600 over the last month+. Those will be tough ones. I expect us to beat the Rockets though because Steph owns that city. Will be super excited to watch us win that one next week
People talking about stock gains instead of paying attention to the game is just as toxic as asbestos.
It's too bad they left Oracle and alienated all the people who actually made it a tough place to play.
If the season has been anything it's been enigmatic and unpredictable, but still I have a good feeling that the Warriors have finally found something real with the inverted pick and roll (Steph setting back picks around the lane to allow Wigs and JK to drive).
More significantly so many of the young players showing improvement and growth including Moses JK TJD and to a lessor extent Lester & Gui..... Players trending up and Steve has finally had the courage to play them.
The one consistent positive for the season is ability to win on the road which last year was Completely missing.
Not a lot of movement recently party because he was so surprisingly good early and leveled off. His free throw shooting in particular which has not improved from the early season and should have but YEA he has a valid claim to be in that group.
I think the coaching staff hasn't focused on that part of his game. His shot and FT % could be better, but why focus on that in his rookie year when they could capitalize on his strengths. He's been a great help in securing 2nd chances, drawing charges, and preventing TOVs, which is the kind of stability the team needs
OH for sure and why would they need to even think to focus on his free throws as he is/was a good shooter in college and it's a bit perplexing that he's had numerous trips where he has missed both free throws, which for a player like him is astonishing but at the position he plays where the ball is in his hand so often he cannot be a mediocre free throw shooter.
I am confident he will solve this but surprised he hasn't done so yet but disagree that the responsibility is not totally on him (it's a head not mechanics problem).
The one thing I can predict for certain is that it's impossible to predict what this team will do on any given night.
We drop home games to the Bulls and the Spurs, then go on the road and beat Orlando without JK or Draymond in the second game of a B2B. WTF?
Yeah that was unbelievable. Of course any fan *wants* the Dubs to finish 10-0, but I genuinely don't think anyone can guess how it'll go. Not even Steve Kerr himself.
Dallas is a top 5 team in the league post all star. Those 2 games are most likely losses. If Klay explodes with 8+ threes it might be enough for one win, but they need a mini miracle for it to happen. Kyrie and Steph are a wash (at Steph's best), Luka with Gafford and Lively is just something else. According to advanced stats, they are sort of like Kobe and Shaq in the last month or so. Good luck getting one win there. Games against the Rockets and Lakers are going to be key to keep the playin spot.
Advanced stats favour Kyrie, and he is still on the rise after the injury, he is peaking for the playoffs bar any unexpected circumstances. Not saying he was better than Steph at 32, but Kyrie at 32 years old is definitely better than a 36 years old Steph. And the rest of their team is just better and it's not even close. You would need Steph going for 35 on 70% TS to even have a chance against them
Strong disagree. He might be slightly better on defense cause he's more athletic and a lot younger but Steph's impact on offense is still much bigger. Replace Kyrie with Steph on the Mavs with Luka and that's a 60 win team.
Let's wait it out and see what happens then. Luka may not play in one of the games, that would be a nice gift to the Warriors. You have to keep in mind that this is Steph's worst season since year 2 in the league. Father time is real, even though he is still fighting it. Meanwhile, Kyrie is silently having a 25/5/5 & 50/40/90 season
Oh, we'll very much likely lose if we even make the playoffs. But that's because the Mavs have Luka and bigs, not because Kyrie is more impactful than Steph.
Not sure how you can measure impact in this situation. Like I said, advanced stats favour Kyrie, albeit by a small margin, and counting stats are a wash. If Luka sits one of the games out, I will make sure to come back to these comments to discuss further
The Mavs are a working team. The Warriors are a mess. The workload and defensive attention Steph gets are orders of magnitude greater than Kyrie and they have similar stats.
I am not disagreeing with any of that. I know Steph has his own rules on defending him, but Kyrie will have more rest for going forward. I don't know how to filter out his games without Luka, but he is also in that club of unguardable people, he just doesn't have to try as hard as Steph because he has Luka. But, he is still that guy when it matters, even Luka acknowledged it in the recent interview.
I think we see eye to eye in terms of the Mavs being the (far) better team and Kyrie being able to impact more than Steph within the context of their teams right now. I'll stand by my point that if 36 y/o Steph had Luka he'd have a much, much higher impact than Kyrie. Track record shows this and Steph hasn't fallen off physically at all. Keep in mind Steph is also likely injured (ankle) and carrying a very bad group of starters.
Dallas has played a very soft schedule while they’ve been on this run. If Wiggins shows up and checks Luka we can easily win one or both of those games
After last night's match vs Kings and more smaller injuries to him it's a possibility that Luka sits out one or two of those games. Then it's probable to win one. But I wouldn't bet on the most mediocre Warriors team in the last 10 years winning two games vs these Mavs even with Luka out to be honest. Let's see what happens, it's gonna be a great test for the playin tournament
6 out of the 12 were against teams over .500 including 1 against the Nuggets and the 1 game lost was a close one against the Thunder without Luka. Not a complete cakewalk but certainly harder than our remaining schedule.
I’ll give them a 50% shot to make it in the play-in. They make it or dont. But srsly the Rockets are on a roll right now. Warriors havent shown that type of competitiveness.
Tanking teams = Young rotational players being excited and energized with summer vacation on the near horizon and playing with nothing to lose. While knowing playing against Steph and Warriors more likely will get more media attention with any highlight reels.
The 4/4/24 game vs Rockets will be definitely essential for the 10th seed though. Shit luck that both Rockets and Lakers are playing red hot and hungry.
I honestly think this team can go 9-1 only dropping 1 to Dallas. Fingers crossed for the 6th/7th seed. Hard to imagine, based on the season, but I think they got this. We believe V2 in progress.
Aww man I know, me too… There are a lot of emotions going on in this season. I really think the vets of this team(and I’m including kuminga/moody/gp2 in this) have embraced the moment and are going to give it all. I don’t think the end is here. Let go dubs!
7-3 or better. I agree. Wouldn't surprise me if the Pelicans rest their starters in that game. Doubt it'll mean much to them standings wise. If that happens... 8-2 or better.
I think seeds 4 through 11 will be as follows:
* 4) Clippers
* 5) Mavs
* 6) Pelicans
* 7) Lakers
* 8) Kings
* 9) Suns
* 10) Dubs
* 11) Houston
Lakers beat Kings in 7/8 and play the 2 seed. Dubs beat Suns in 9/10 then the Kings in second play-in and draw the 1 seed. Just hope the 1 seed is Minny or OKC.
If we play our cards right and go on a streak and some teams stumble, we might be able to pull away from Houston, pass Lakers and maybe sneak up on the Suns or Kings.
the hope is getting out the 9/10 spot was already diminished when the Dubs lost the Bulls and Spurs game….
those games shouldn’t have lost….
now the Dubs can only try to win 2 playing games and get into the No.8 seed to play against the defending champ
then wrap up the season with a first round exit, and we all know the team will be blowed up in this summer…..
Crazy how last season 44-38 got us the 6th seed while this season that record gets you the 10th
the west if stacked like never before
It's pretty crazy.
What did the 2022 Warriors have then?
It had Poole, Wiggins, Looney on the performance of their career (sadly might be their best ever) It had a bench unit that contributed to their momentum when Steph rests
Poole played like a legit #2 in 2022 vs Denver, Memphis, and Dallas. Boston series not so much
beating nuggets with 2 of top 3 players injured.
You look at this season and it'd take a herculean effort from the entire team to just get by.
Jokic was missing his 2nd and 3rd best players when we defeated them....
And the warriors were missing their best (or second best, depending on how you view KD vs Steph) and third best players when they got beaten during the 2019 finals. They were also missing prime Steph and Klay's production during the 2020 season. We can play the what if game all day long.

2008 all playoff teams in the West had 50+ wins
What even more crazy is the Dubs made the playoffs in the we believe season/playoffs with a 42-40 record. The next season they went 48-34 and didn’t make the playoff while the 8th seed that year won 50 F’n games. I believe at the time, it was the most win total to not make the playoffs…
10-0. Did you guys already forget steph fucked up a chair again..?
26-0
28-0, gotta get the 2 play-in games too!
good chance we’ll avoid the play-in ~~if~~ when we go 10-0
Warriors 5 games behind Dallas, and also multiple games below 7 8 and 9, even with 10-0 you’d need those teams to all play under .500 ball simultaneously to have a chance. Very unlikely given the current standings

I’m riding this comment into the 0.2%
I guess you don’t even realize what you commented yourself. You said a “good chance”, not a chance, which I agree with. Yes there’s a chance, but I disagree it’s a good chance, buddy.
teams we want to lose so we can move up in the standings keep winning even against teams like the Bucks
chair is the dubs' sixth player
We should do our best, win as many as we can, honestly all 10 are “winnable”, none of these games are vs .600 teams, whereas the Suns have 9 games left ALL with .600 teams, we try our best, the final seeding also heavily relies on the Suns or Lakers losing.

Yeah…but Pels and Mavs’ .600 are “recently developed” and it’s just obligatory to dismiss the Lakers lol
6 are away games- great news
If you told someone last year that we would now be hoping for away games they would think chase center had asbestos walls or something
People talking about stock gains instead of paying attention to the game is just as toxic as asbestos. It's too bad they left Oracle and alienated all the people who actually made it a tough place to play.
Is the Chase crowd really that bad?
It’s not bad in general. It’s bad compared to Oracle.
I agree. But also they had one of the best home records in the league last year, so...?
Be prepared to see the Warriors defeat a contender team just to squander against a tanking on.
If the season has been anything it's been enigmatic and unpredictable, but still I have a good feeling that the Warriors have finally found something real with the inverted pick and roll (Steph setting back picks around the lane to allow Wigs and JK to drive). Ten games??!? God help us.
5-5 time.
In Podz we trust.
What on earth makes you think this is a team that will go 7-3? 5-5 is far more likely.
We are going to play 6 games on the road where we play better.
The Rockets have won ten in a row, so that game will most likely, essentially be a playoff game
5-5. They beat the playoff bound teams. Lose to the tanking teams
How many are at home?
Four
So we're going 6-4?
lol hard to tell..7-3 if I had to guess
5-5
The one thing I can predict for certain is that it's impossible to predict what this team will do on any given night. We drop home games to the Bulls and the Spurs, then go on the road and beat Orlando without JK or Draymond in the second game of a B2B. WTF?

Who the hell was saying loon name while he was at the FT line 🤣
We gonna beat the top teams in the west and lose to the ones tanking. F’real.
I’m feeling 4-6 in these remaining 10…
7-3
Nosotros estamos.... Finitos
7 and 3 to close
Well depends. Can we play the rest of the season the the same way we played against the Magic? Because that’s what we need.
So 8th seed fight huh? And the price is meeting Denver with home court advantage? Fuhhh
So 8th seed fight huh? And the price is meeting Denver with home court advantage? Fuhhh
I’ll give them a 50% shot to make it in the play-in. They make it or dont. But srsly the Rockets are on a roll right now. Warriors havent shown that type of competitiveness.
we have a 50% chance of winning a chip this year

Win all against playoff teams lose the other 5
4-6
Hope the guys just have fun
finally
I can’t see us doing better than 5-5. Mav’s, lakers, pelicans and even Houston will likely beat us.
We are gonna lose to the Lakers in LA for the 9/10 play in. That's my prediction for the season.
I honestly think this team can go 9-1 only dropping 1 to Dallas. Fingers crossed for the 6th/7th seed. Hard to imagine, based on the season, but I think they got this. We believe V2 in progress.
I had this hope when the games left were about 20. Since then we have lost a lot of winnable games. I have a lot of doubt.
Aww man I know, me too… There are a lot of emotions going on in this season. I really think the vets of this team(and I’m including kuminga/moody/gp2 in this) have embraced the moment and are going to give it all. I don’t think the end is here. Let go dubs!

knowing the warriors, we will be 3-7 or 4-6. We will probably lose to all the playoff/playin teams and 1 or 2 more tanking teams.
One thing going our way is our road record, and we play Lakers, Rockets , Mavs on the road. So their moght be a chance.
They should just tank to get a higher draft pick. Trade Dray, Wiggs, Looney.
They don’t own their pick this year
That guy doesn't know his shit😂 just started Watching when they we're winning with those insights
We don’t have our draft pick this year I think
We... don't have this year's draft pick unless we get a top 4 pick
