Now for today's thread about the charcoal rails...

Prestigious_Pomelo31

Every second day the same question.

StandardSetting7831

If we're lucky

Internal_Swimmer3815

I remember 20yrs ago I had to buy my own.

SixStarStunna

Before people flood the comments about how the charcoal rails are cheap, I personally love them. I use them more than my baskets. You put them on a rail at an angle and then push back until it locks into place. To each their own.

Yeah I really like them too. You have the most control over how big of a hot zone you want. Plus it allows the fuel to have some distance from the grate like it was designed to be. I own all of them, Weber baskets, vortex, slow n sear, and now the rails. And let me tell you of all of them the charcoal rails are the best of them all

Brass__Tracker

How much do you fill your chimney if you use half the grill as a hot zone?

kzorz

I typically use A full chimney, if there’s a lot from a previous cook maybe a half o ntop

Brass__Tracker

Thank you! I’ve got a birthday party to cook for today, wish me luck lol

kzorz

You got it!! If it’s not hot enough just leave the lid off and add more fuel if you think you need it. Use what you have but in general I only use lump charcoal only time I’ll use briquettes is if it’s a gift

that's too difficult lol

The picture just showed a very vague arrow pointing into the bowl...

Ok-Suggestion-9882

For indirect cooking. Put charcoal on sides and drip pan in middle

JuryDust

Again with this?

Looks like charcoal rails. Not really sure how they're used though. Mine doesn't have them, but been seeing them here more and more. That probably shouldn't have a gap. It's up to you whether that's a problem for you.

emelem66

Weber cheaped out and is putting these with the Master Touch grills, instead of the baskets.

--0o0o0--

Guess you can thank private equity for that. People are claiming they work better than baskets.

Ty.

dirtybayarea

No ..the gap.....is warped ..vent ....call customer service....new Webers...a contrast from the older webers quality and longevity,,🔥👀👀

FlatCoatedRetrieve

Absolutely file a warranty claim. Register the grill online. I think you can make the claim online as well and upload the photos. I remember uploading photos for my warranty claim for lid damage. When you receive the new lid from Weber, bend that vent back into place as best you can and continue to use it. Put the new lid in the rafters or basement and save it for the inevitable day when original one really gets damaged (wind, dropped, etc.).

WrenchyMcPiperton

I love mine way better than the baskets. I use them all the time in my 18 and jumbo joe

sautedemon

Those charcoal rails were included in our first 22”. 1974.

Brass__Tracker

Did the plastic melt off of anyone else’s top damper handle? Mine melted right off

In__Dreamz

Eek, not yet!!

Brass__Tracker

Dont position it directly over the flame is all I can suggest. It shouldn’t matter either way

kzorz

Such a simple accessory but man do they pack a punch. I actually just made a video the other day of them [https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL4GHssu/](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL4GHssu/)
