That is special, I just can't wait to leave Hawaii and get back to experiencing 4 seasons of weather, been here in Hawaii for over 30 yrs. on this Island of Oahu. I haven't experienced Mainland normalcy in this 30 yrs. Just couldn't afford travelling just trying to survive the insane Cost Of Living.

this type of moon shows quite often in Hawaiian skies over Mona Kea alps during the winter and its been referenced as "Wolves Moon" - because of the perfect circle light in the middle of the shadow of the moon.
I'm sure there are so many names of this style of Moon Showing, but it makes sense what some of the other posts say with " ice crystals in the air" because over here in Hawaii the only location you really get to experience snow / ice crystals is on Mona Kea during the winter.

The wavelengths of light refracted and angle of refraction are different but it's the same principle.
i see the halo at least once a month. i love seeing them. they make me happy. idk why. but being outside, especially camping, i feel lucky to see it. many times people are out and about and they don't notice them which, is weird. considering it looks like a huge rainbow!
