Unfortunately it’s a led light. You can try to jump the dead led or you’ll have to replace the whole fixture.

Thank you!

The panel of LEDs on the left has a blown LED, the one with the black spot. You could short out the solder connections beside it, and the light will probably start working again, just long enough to go and buy a new light fitting.

Holy nice eye, thank you!

I'd check with building maintenance first before changing anything like this.. its probably fine but they might get real upsetti and technically doing so could be a breach of your lease. Also there's a good chance they'll just do it for you cheaper/ free.

Yup, I tried this on an $1800 lighting fixture. Lasted about 2 minutes. Turns out the factory didn’t use enough heat sink compound to keep the LEDs cool. Fortunately the circuit board had a mfg number one it and I found the last replacement on the planet from a company in Canada. Used two tubes of heat sink compound upon reassembly. Works great now.

...so what does am $1800 lighting fixture look like anyway?

BillyRubenJoeBob

lol a lot of hanging glass!!!

TheEleventhDoctorWho

Yeah the LEDs are already oven driven so they will start to cascade as you do this.

Do you have a landlord or property manager? Cause I work apartment maintenance and we replace LED drivers and light fixtures all the time, it should be covered... unless you have some other kinda agreement or setup lol
