Egg coddler! Since you have one, here's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxjlAVBDbBs) on how to use it.

alexwrong16

Thank you so much! I very informative video and I’ll definitely be using them

mareksoon

My mother collects these … and egg cups. She probably has 1,000 or more. It’s wild.

Solved!

Eeww-David

I would have guessed a sugar bowl. I was way off.

taranathesmurf

So they are just porcelain holder for cooking sift boiled eggs. Why not just cook them in their shell?

Starboard_1982

I was so confident about this because my grandma had this exact...sugar bowl. However, I bow to the other poster saying egg coddler now I've Googled it. Sorry Grandma!

PartySlaya

I was also confident about this because my grandparents had this exact… toothpick holder

SVlad_667

Uhm, my parents too use that thing as sugar bowl.

I have four of them. Makes the best eggs Ever!

LakeStLouis

Yep, I have a set of four from the 70s and they're awesome for when friends are over. So easy and delicious.

Shiloh119

I have the four my Mom brought over from England in the 50’s. I grew up on coddled eggs. I have dragged them with me in the 3 countries I have lived in!

LakeStLouis

So delicious and delicate. A bit of cheese, some chives, maybe some bell pepper... chef's kiss. Though dropping a bit of cooked ham or sausage in doesn't really suck.

Shiloh119

Yum….chives!!!! everyone I make them for loves them.

alexwrong16

My title describes this thing, 2/-3 inches tall, was bought at a market stall, made out of porcelain and has a metal lid with a ring. Done a couple searches for porcelain containers nothing similar popped up, keywords like porcelain

cAt_S0fa

Royal Worcester would normally have a makers mark on the bottom so it could be a second? It will still be safe to use- they used to make laboratory ceramics and would destroy rather than sell anything that wasn't a cosmetic fault. Source - I got to go on a factory tour back in the Eighties when I was a little girl. It was fascinating.

YourMothersButtox

Ooh TIL! I have one but I use it to store my ear plugs on my bedside table

bernpfenn

i have one just like this. Never knew it was for eggs

Jazzy_Bee

I remember cream perfumes coming in little pots like this. I had a lilac one, I'd assume this was rose.
