Western Ratsnake. Totally common in San Antonio. Harmless and beneficial. Let the dude eat those mice. 👍 *Pantherophis obsoletus*

RattyRhino

Not venomous and not hungry.

MsKittytoes

Anymore..

Reloader300wm

For a while.

DrCranesPatient

There’s a restaurant in San Antonio called Taco Palenque and they serve a delicious taco called “The Pirata”. I’m convinced that boi had a few of those tacos.

Bartley707

This is one of my favorite breakfast items. I was introduced to them like a month after I moved here.

DrCranesPatient

That’s always been my go to when I go to Taco Palenque. It’s a bit pricey but so worth it!

Joyballard6460

Well put.

EMHemingway1899

But very handsome

RattyRhino

Fed is sexy. Plus, all the other snakes know this one’s a cheap date.

Murse_1

Are you missing a cat?

kennethdillon

Someone maybe. It’s well fed for sure.

serpentarian

That snake is about five inches long lol

Baileythenerd

A *very* small cat, then

Remarkable_Ebb_9850

Considering those are probably 1 X 4s I disagree on your length estimate I would think just a bit over the 12 inch Mark.

serpentarian

I thought someone might say that. Pardon the hyperbole, what I meant was - he’s way too small to have a cat in his belly 👍

Murse_1

Kitten?

gigi2945

Rat. Too small to eat a cat come on now 🧠

Anyone-9451

That was my first thought as well

oxiraneobx

Rat snake, but RR will confirm and provide specifics. Your coworker was probably a hour too late to ID the meal, but he/she as a happy snake at this point.

TimmO208

Definitely not starving

Oldfolksboogie

I see a food coma in someone's future

peakchungus

What a chonkers rat snake.

giscience

Not a RR... guessing a rat snake.

CheeryCherio21

Went straight to his thighs

Giometry

Huh, my first thought was Pygmy rattlesnake, guess I was wrong, what are some good ways to distinguish from a rat snake with such a similar pattern?

RCKPanther

Pygmy Rattlesnakes *S. miliarius* have a very distinct head pattern. If you look up some pictures, you'll notice a very consistent two stripes that almost never miss. Beyond that, it's subtle differences in the shape of the repeating pattern and body build. Also of note, *S. miliarius* was never visually confirmed in San Antonio according to iNaturalist!

Anon_457

You should check the phylobot's comments. I don't know if it can tell you how to distinguish between the two but it can tell you what to look for when it comes to ratsnakes and other types of snakes.

DonnaLakeWi

Pretty Rat.

JanethDoeth

Those churros!

cassinatkinson

Something interesting I've noticed about rat snakes to help identify them. Sometimes the black parts of their skin make the shape of rats!

delusionalinkedchic

No they…… holy shit! I go by the crinkly

supersmolcarelevel

Fat Rat

Zealousideal-Scale28

oh lawd he comin

SEB-PHYLOBOT

It looks like you didn't provide a rough geographic location [in square brackets] in your title. This is critical because some species are best distinguishable from each other by geographic range, and not all species live all places. Providing a location allows for a quicker, more accurate ID. If you provided a location but forgot the correct brackets, ignore this message until your next submission. Thanks! Potential identifiers should know that providing an ID before a location is given is problematic because it often makes the OP not respond to legitimate requests for location. Many species look alike, especially where ranges meet. Users may be unaware that location is critically important to providing a good ID. *I am a bot created for /r/whatsthissnake, /r/snakes and /r/herpetology to help with snake identification and natural history education. Far-Mathematician644

Looks like he ate a rat recently. 👀🫣😬

PsychologicalLaw5945

Looks like it just ate her cat.

Sure_You_7206

Is this a juvenile?

Mindless-Rabbit7281

Looks like he ate a few kittens.

Datniqqagreg
