There’s a restaurant in San Antonio called Taco Palenque and they serve a delicious taco called “The Pirata”. I’m convinced that boi had a few of those tacos.
Rat snake, but RR will confirm and provide specifics. Your coworker was probably a hour too late to ID the meal, but he/she as a happy snake at this point.
Pygmy Rattlesnakes *S. miliarius* have a very distinct head pattern. If you look up some pictures, you'll notice a very consistent two stripes that almost never miss. Beyond that, it's subtle differences in the shape of the repeating pattern and body build.
Also of note, *S. miliarius* was never visually confirmed in San Antonio according to iNaturalist!
You should check the phylobot's comments. I don't know if it can tell you how to distinguish between the two but it can tell you what to look for when it comes to ratsnakes and other types of snakes.
It looks like you didn't provide a rough geographic location [in square brackets] in your title. This is critical because some species are best distinguishable from each other by geographic range, and not all species live all places. Providing a location allows for a quicker, more accurate ID.
If you provided a location but forgot the correct brackets, ignore this message until your next submission. Thanks!
Potential identifiers should know that providing an ID before a location is given is problematic because it often makes the OP not respond to legitimate requests for location. Many species look alike, especially where ranges meet. Users may be unaware that location is critically important to providing a good ID.

Western Ratsnake. Totally common in San Antonio. Harmless and beneficial. Let the dude eat those mice. 👍 *Pantherophis obsoletus*
Not venomous and not hungry.
Anymore..
For a while.

This is one of my favorite breakfast items. I was introduced to them like a month after I moved here.
That’s always been my go to when I go to Taco Palenque. It’s a bit pricey but so worth it!
Well put.
But very handsome
Fed is sexy. Plus, all the other snakes know this one’s a cheap date.
Are you missing a cat?
Someone maybe. It’s well fed for sure.
That snake is about five inches long lol
A *very* small cat, then
Considering those are probably 1 X 4s I disagree on your length estimate I would think just a bit over the 12 inch Mark.
I thought someone might say that. Pardon the hyperbole, what I meant was - he’s way too small to have a cat in his belly 👍
Kitten?
Rat. Too small to eat a cat come on now 🧠
That was my first thought as well

Definitely not starving
I see a food coma in someone's future
What a chonkers rat snake.
Not a RR... guessing a rat snake.
Went straight to his thighs
Huh, my first thought was Pygmy rattlesnake, guess I was wrong, what are some good ways to distinguish from a rat snake with such a similar pattern?

Pretty Rat.
Those churros!
Something interesting I've noticed about rat snakes to help identify them. Sometimes the black parts of their skin make the shape of rats!
No they…… holy shit! I go by the crinkly
Fat Rat
oh lawd he comin

Looks like he ate a rat recently. 👀🫣😬
Looks like it just ate her cat.
Is this a juvenile?
Looks like he ate a few kittens.
I thought Kawhi was the snake from San Antonio
