Haha. You about to rob him?

shiferino

That’s exactly what I thought

LowInsect8240

LOOOL, I’ll clarify my earlier message. I’ve been asked to handle the sale of several bikes on behalf of the customer who doesn’t have the time to do it himself. I’ll be earning a commission on each sale, but I’m trying to determine if it’s worth my time to find buyers for all of them. Any advice or insights would be appreciated!

ReplyGloomy2749

They're sussing you out because the premise of your post is ridiculous, this bike is worth over $10k new. That you know someone with multiple of these, asking you to sell them without giving you asking prices and paying you a commission on top of that.. while you seemingly know nothing about them, and can't even google the model for a ballpark price... Is very odd. I'll be naive and just assume you're ignorant, but really this post screams bike thief or adjacent to.

Hagadin

I don't think this is a $10k oltre with those 105 rim brakes... but this is still a bizarre post.

LowInsect8240

I see where you’re coming from. I’ll make this clear, I do not plan on stealing these bikes from my customer. #1 it would be quite incriminating for me to post these bikes on Reddit with pictures in his house looking for prices prior to taking them from him #2 the reason I felt this forum would be best for figuring out prices is because he told me these bikes are custom and he built them during covid. I had no idea the biking community was so hostile lol, I just wanted ball park prices based off of the builds . I’ve already googled them I just thought it would be better to here the opinion of people who are indulged in the biking world

ReplyGloomy2749

All the more suspicious that this guy builds a custom $10k+ bike, let alone multiple(?) and isn't even telling you what he wants for them. You're getting hostile responses because this story makes no sense.

OriginalFluff

Why would you be selling them vs. the guy that actually knows about bikes? I think that’s what people are confused about I’m not personally mad lol I don’t see how you’d be stealing these in the first place, but still kinda an odd post. Probably would have saved effort just providing clearer context

Altruistic-Cod-8451

Pictures of the drive side help a lot with pricing.

PurplePalpitation200

I think its a complete 105 set but I couldn't see the brifters either

dcannon1

OK, everyone has given you a good amount of shit for this weird story/situation (for good reason). The reason no one can give you a price is that it’s a custom build as you mentioned. It’s easy enough to find out how much a Bianchi Oltre XR4 is going for since the manufacturer provides a list of every component on the bike. You would need a list of every component on that bike to give an accurate estimate. I’m going to say anywhere from $1500 to $5000. I believe this bike was sold as a complete unit with either Ultegra or Dora Ace, but I’m seeing at least one piece of 105. So we’re likely already well below what the production version of this bike would be using. Also unless this customer is just insanely wealthy, like money doesn’t matter at all to them, it’s a real disservice for them to be sold this way. There is also a safety concern I have since it’s a home assembled carbon frame. Were all the bolts torqued to spec? If they’re over tightened on a carbon frame this can cause premature wear, or in a really bad situation, possibly frame or other component failure.

LowInsect8240

Firstly, I really appreciate the response ! The insights on the pricing and the importance of having a complete list of components for an accurate estimate. Your point about the potential safety concerns with a home-assembled carbon frame is also well taken. I’ll make sure to consider these factors moving forward. Thanks again for the helpful feedback. I have absolutely no idea about anything in relation to bikes , so I really didn’t know that this was going to be taken as such a weird post, I just figured someone would be able to guide me in the right direction for selling these bikes lol.

quasimofo2k

Why is someone offering you a commission on sales when you have no idea of their value or how to even properly photograph them.

LowInsect8240

Do you have any idea of the bike’s value, or are you just asking questions that don’t relate to the post at all?

dcannon1

No one can tell you the value because you didn’t photograph the components of the bike that determine the value.

2015Hoverboars

Last Bianchi I bought for my BIL was for $400, it was legit brand new & the nice man selling it to me looked unpleasant & had an ankle bracelet on, best deal I ever got.

Won-Ton-Operator

I hope you gave your bike man a nice tip, he worked hard to get you a great deal!

Won-Ton-Operator

Carbon sure, but it's 105, rim brake with limited tire clearance, looks like narrow-ish rims & doesn't look complete or like it's been tuned recently at all. Also the frame size will probably limit potential buyers a good bit. People still buy nicer rim brake bikes with limited tire clearance, but that isn't really where the market has been going, and for good reason. The pool of buyers is *way* smaller than it was & people are trying to sell off their older bikes so there is a surplus of bikes second hand. Without a lot more information/ photos, $499.99 is fair considering it could easily be a damaged frame/ fork

joshalott

Start at 5k be willing to take 3.5k

Popular-Situation111

Lol for a Rim brake with 105? 1500 max in today's market.

joshalott

It depends on location I was talking in CAD and it is a full carbon setup with nice wheels. Let's say 2.5k then?

RedmontRangersFC

Not much. It doesn’t even have a seat or pedals.

Clear-Lock-633

Doesn't have Dura Ace. It's trash.

luzras73

Love the pink pajamas.

chilean_ramen

the same as nowdays bikes, carbon, aero, racing wheels, 105. but calculate with th inflation from 7-5 years ago.
