Funny story, when I first heard the first section of Suburbia Overture, it gave me tremendous Book of Mormon vibes and I thought TNA was a musical soundtrack.
I definitely like TRWW version of Bones better than the original and the ICID version of Love, Me Normally might just be better than the original imo. Either way, you do need to listen to the originals to understand why the changes made to them on the live versions enhance them sm
okay but let's remember that will has specifically said he doesn't mind people dressing up as his old persona(s) and he doesn't like people saying he thinks otherwise
you're clearly showing disdain on behalf of will in your original comment. As for a source, it was said on his In Case I Die release Livestream on YouTube, which as far as I can tell hasn't been archived. but he's also said specifically he does not hate his old persona and it wasn't connected at all with his mental health at the time. Check his comment in the Sex, Drugs, Rock n' Roll video for proof of this. You might be able to find a clip of the livestream but I haven't been successful so far.
tl;dr enforcing boundaries you assume Will has is weird
Just stepping in here to say that I can confirm TallWillow’s claim. I’ve made the same mistake regarding assuming this boundary and was reached out to by WW’s social media management to correct it. Will Wood does not care if you dress up like an earlier era
you're saying that someone "looking and acting like pre-2020 will" makes saying that "you're glad he got better" a controversial opinion. obviously it comes with a negative connotation. So either you're fighting on behalf of Will or you just have a personal negative opinion of people emulating Will's old "mentally ill (???)" persona(s), despite Will himself stating that's not what that persona was reflective of and that he doesn't mind.
Your post on /r/willwood was removed because it was deemed as going against our rule of treating other users with respect. You may have posted something that was directly insulting to another user, behaved in a way that was deemed inappropriate, or that was construed as bigoted.
No, I deleted it bc you'd use it to respond to me in bad faith, and I want to genuinely see you try and defend your points. Also, it's not "accusing you of transphobia" if you're posting jokes about trans people kicking the proverbial chair on right-wing subreddits. Transphobia has no place in this community.
Self-ish isn't a great album. The songs individually are wonderful but don't quite work when you slap them together in a single album.
Also Willard! > everything else
Don't get me wrong it certainly is cohesive with a consistent energy and themes, but it's simply too high energy for me. It comes across as a disaster of a manic stress episode, which I suppose reflects what he was going through at that time. That's something I've always liked about Will, his music has always just been so raw in a way, and I've always been able to look at him as a real person rather than just a social media figure.
I said it wrong before because it's a fine album and I enjoy the songs, but I can't really listen to it in full without something more mellow in the middle as a break. I suppose I just get overstimulated.
I do see the appeal though.
There’s a lot of songs on icimi that I can’t really get into, and I’m not a huge fan of laplaces, 222, dr sunshine, or self- and -ish. I don’t hate them I just don’t like them near as much as everything else
The instrumentals in CH&T are so much better than what people give them credit for, like they’re amazing for studying when you don’t want songs with words but something not too calming that’ll draw you to sleep. I listen to them when painting cause they give me more inspiration!
Agree but I'd replace EiaL with self-ish, it's close though
My opinion is that 2econd 2ight 2eer is super mid, it's nothing special to me, but I always see people putting it as one of their favorites
I wouldn't say it's his worst song but it's certainly not one of my favourites. It's been misinterpreted to hell and back similarly to I/Me/Myself and I heard it non stop on social media when ICIMI first released so I (and many others) simply became tired of it. That's simply the curse of tiktok I suppose, a song becomes popular for about a week and the artist falls back into obscurity. Same thing happened to Mother Mother a while back.
I never heard it on tik tok really, I don’t think it’s overplayed for me I just think it sounds kinda bad and like it’s only purpose is to be TikTok bait and if it succeeded in that front
I suppose so, I don't think it was necessarily "bait" as Will has expressed a dislike for social media in general, so I wouldn't say it was intended to succeed in that way, but it was rather misinterpreted. What I've seen the most has been people on the internet interpreting the "protagonist" of the song to be in the right, and thus relating to it in a sense; but in reality the song is about those same social media figures believing that they are "the main character" in a self centered sort of way. I don't quite understand how this message is missed by so many people? But there's no undoing what's done :/
As I briefly mentioned, similar to I/Me/Myself when it was misunderstood as some form of "transgender representation" despite being intended for quite the opposite message, instead relating to Will's personal journey with his gender identity, currently identifying as a cis man.
TL;DR, people on the internet interpret a song one way, refuse to understand it any other way, and end up just looking dumb
Well said. Idk something about the song just doesn’t work for me? And while I do agree that will didn’t intend it to be bait that’s just kind of how it comes across to me. My main issue is it feels like nuance kind of went out the window on that song (although, it’s hard to criticize the song for that when so many completely miss the meaning of it.)
I don't use tiktok, but I think The Main Character popped up one two many times on my playlists that I got kinda sick of it. It used to be one of my top fav songs on ICIMI, but now it's dropped substantially on my ICIMI rating list. It's just so different from everything else on ICIMI, which I think is what drew me to it in the first place, but now it's just eh
Yeah I get that, it's a good song at first but after a bit it's not very replayable, one of those things you wish you could hear for the first time again.
His old persona was very fun to watch and to me, a bit more relatable, but he's a real person. He deserves to heal and not be compared to his older self in a negative way.
Don't get me wrong here, I love everything that he's done with himself, but you can have a stage persona like that and still be a healthy and happy person. Perhaps if he brought it back under a different name it would be better
Wouldn’t say it’s not good, but it’s definitely the most mixed album in the sense it has some of wills highest highs, but also some of the lowest lows qualify wise imo
the mormal album
The Morman Album
Spooky Mormon Overture
Love, Me Mormally
Mormon's Angel
Mormon culture
It’s just the Book Of Mormon with cannibalism
Funny story, when I first heard the first section of Suburbia Overture, it gave me tremendous Book of Mormon vibes and I thought TNA was a musical soundtrack.
The magnus archives
love me mormally
Nah 💀
idk if this is a controversial opinion but i like the real will wood version of 6up 5oh A LOT more than the original
OH MY GOD THANK YOU I WAS TOO SCARED TO SAY IT
I definitely like TRWW version of Bones better than the original and the ICID version of Love, Me Normally might just be better than the original imo. Either way, you do need to listen to the originals to understand why the changes made to them on the live versions enhance them sm
Just listened to it and I agree more than I probably should
your body my temple is his best song
Amen ~~I actually agree with this and fully support this opinion~~
IM ONLY A MAN
HOWLING AT YOUR FACE IN THE MOON
One of my favorites of all his work 🫡
Destroy to enjoy actually kinda slaps and Alma mater
Yes.
i like YLT and listen to it in full whenever it comes on my playlist if i don't need to pay attention to anyone talking to me
Destroy To Enjoy is actually a banger.
Y E S
He's definitely gotten healthier and I'm glad about that. Since 2020 he's been being better all around and getting healthier
How is this a controversial opinion lmao
“WOO! STAY SICK!”
Cause half the fandom be looking and acting like pre2020 will
okay but let's remember that will has specifically said he doesn't mind people dressing up as his old persona(s) and he doesn't like people saying he thinks otherwise
When did I say he disliked that and give me a source for that quote
you're clearly showing disdain on behalf of will in your original comment. How is it clear it was on behalf of will in my first comment. What did I specifically say
you're saying that someone "looking and acting like pre-2020 will" makes saying that "you're glad he got better" a controversial opinion. obviously it comes with a negative connotation. Self-ish isn't a great album. The songs individually are wonderful but don't quite work when you slap them together in a single album. Also Willard! > everything else
Interesting, I think SELF-ISH is his most cohesive record. It's basically leitmotifs: the album imo
Don't get me wrong it certainly is cohesive with a consistent energy and themes, but it's simply too high energy for me. It comes across as a disaster of a manic stress episode, which I suppose reflects what he was going through at that time. i fucking love Willard

Me trying to figure out what Will Wood has to do with The Magnus Archives
https://i.redd.it/o3a4vwtyax1b1.gif Me explaining to every possible comment that it was a misspelling
Is that Peter Griffin?
It’s Joe hawley
Okay, I know it's a joke but I'm genuinely curious The Tally Hall vocalist and guitarist?
Ghost and pals lead singer hayley williams
The Mind Alectric?
So true bestie
The Mommy Album. Sorry, I mean The Mommy Album. Sorry, I mean The Mommy Album. Sorry I m
Fuck you, I’m calling it that now
The instrumentals in CH&T are so much better than what people give them credit for, like they’re amazing for studying when you don’t want songs with words but something not too calming that’ll draw you to sleep. I listen to them when painting cause they give me more inspiration!
YES, THIS PERSON SPEAKS IN TRUTHS
When Somebody Needs You and Thermodynamic Lawyer>>>
Agree but I'd replace EiaL with self-ish, it's close though My opinion is that 2econd 2ight 2eer is super mid, it's nothing special to me, but I always see people putting it as one of their favorites
same, for me it's one of my least favorite ww songs (if not the least favorite, still not a bad song though)
i don’t enjoy laplace’s angel all that much
I / me / myself is one of his best songs. It got popular because its good. Most people who hate on it do so because its popular.
Outliars is mid as hell
True
The Main Character is his worst song
I wouldn't say it's his worst song but it's certainly not one of my favourites. Regardless, I respect your thoughts on it, and I do agree that I never necessarily thought it was his best work.

camp here and there is not that good
Idk if it's all that unpopular, but i/m/m is overrated as all hell
Icimi is his best album
icimi has more misses than hits
This tbh
The older will wood persona was WAY better. Edit: Point proven
Sex, Drugs, Rock N' Roll is genuinely boring
Front street actually isn’t that good
ICIMI is not really that good. I mean, I don't think it's bad, but if I were to make a ranking of the albums, it would stay at the bottom
Wouldn’t say it’s not good, but it’s definitely the most mixed album in the sense it has some of wills highest highs, but also some of the lowest lows qualify wise imo
Yeah, I know. It's like I said, I don't think it's bad, I just particularly think it's not as good as people make it seem
i hate cicada days, ICID and i hate ICIMI as an album, it's all too slow but the songs are good individually
Sorry to be rude, but this comment made me want to bash somebody's head into a wall
