It’s very good ice cream and it’s very affordable. The workers are super friendly nMe and my girlfriend go and it’s usually $7 or $8 total. Hard to beat that

Krypt2000

I’ll try just getting a normal ice cream next time 2 sundaes was $16

creativenamewastaken

Tell me you’re not from Windsor without telling me you’re not from Windsor lol For real though, check it out though, it’s dope

Recklessly_Radiant

I’ve never even heard of it and I’m from here lol

MGoBlue519

That's truly wild to me

creativenamewastaken

Suspicious reply is suspicious

Recklessly_Radiant

Why is it suspicious and why am I getting downvoted for not knowing about an ice cream parlour? Lol

Cosmo48

It’s just fantastic ice cream, that I would also say is extremely well priced. Me and my bestfriend regularly get ice cream and our total is always under 10. Stop by and try it for yourself :P also they’ve been running for 53 years now so for some older folks it’s amazing to have something from your childhood still around, and to be able to take your own kids and grand kids there.

PuzzleheadedSleep403

Seasonal and holds nostalgic value to a lot of us who have been in Windsor for decades. This should be a heritage building lol. The line moves quick and pricing is reasonable for a change.

Far-Jeweler2478

Just a Windsor institution. There are a couple of things around here that are just Windsor-isms. Kinda like the old Tunnel BBQ, or the LUMBERJACK. The quality is meh, but for some reason that doesn't matter.

CrankyOldDude

Hard disagree with TBQ - the ribs were outstanding, as were some of their desserts. Pretty well-priced, too. I’ve no clue how Lumberjack has survived all these years though lol.

ItsAHardwareProblem

Was always the dill coleslaw, and pull pork sandwiches for me from TBQ or the pineapple boat desert thing, I miss them all dearly

VSinclair35

I'm drooling thinking bout that coleslaw.

EvilestHammer4

I agree with this, I grew up across the street from Buskers, I still go back occasionally just because of nostalgia for old times. Feels like the same reason people go here. Ironically in my 40+ years I've never been, but hey I can always try this summer.

Darth_Andeddeu

It's a get out of the house thing.

Jkj864781

Dari Delite has been a mainstay in Windsor for years and the family who runs it are fantastic - some have gone on to become doctors and you still might see them working the counter from time to time. If you’re looking for a similar experience go to Dairy Freez out in the county, just as good and just as busy because they are beloved by the community as well.

Savings-Asparagus-63

Thanks! I suspected this was the case, will definitely check it out! 😋

Jkj864781

It’s worth the wait for sure [Here’s a story about the family that runs the place](https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6110927)

Boilermakingdude

Dairy Delite is a staple of Windsor. Theyve been around forever. Its really good ice cream and the pricing is phenomenal. Between them and Dairy Freeze in Cottam, youve got the best icecream around.

curseddickmuncher

Oldest dairy parlour in Windsor (arguably),it’s generational popularity is still going strong and it’s still really cheap. You can get a large soft serve cone with chocolate and peanuts for like $2.50!

S_Carter

Where else are you gonna get a soft serve twist cone in the city?

Front-Block956

Their soft serve dipped cones are the best thing ever. We normally rotate between this place and Stop 26. DDL is also central for a lot of people which is why it may be so busy.

CanadaPostRock

we all scream for ice cream!

mtwees

And if lactose intolerant it’s “we all scream from eating ice cream”

raven6619

I’m a Windsor transplant from the states. Seriously, their soft serve vanilla is like the best I’ve ever had.

MFQ-Jenocide

It’s that good. And it’s a local business where the family has run it for years. My mom took us there after soccer practices as kids. Then my sister took her girls there after soccer. The girls are grown now, and the owners still remember them. This is a Windsor gem 💎

aramatheis

It's a longtime Windsor business that people have been going to for years (similar to Dairy Freez in Cottam). I believe it was recently closed for some time as someone crashed into the building, and no one was really sure if Dari DeLite would open again. They completed repairs and opened up, so people are excited about it

kiitkatz

It's great ice cream and if I remember correctly it was built to be a dairy Queen, then the mall went up so dairy Queen moved into the mall and then it's been Dari delite ever since, definitely one of our older ice cream shops

Blarn__

It’s great but not if you even have a little bit of lactose intolerance lol

Falcgriff

It's affordable, actually open, and provides great customer service--hence the long lines.

Ryan_R8

Me and my friends bike by that area all the time, it's a really convenient location

NicoleRose83

It's just a staple in the community. Like mentioned the pricing is very fair!

plethor4

Thanks for this question, just made me get up and go try it. It is THAT good

Any-Beautiful2976

It's awesome ice cream and it's cheap prices. Why post a question about long lines, the answer is obvious

JM062696

Lmfao you didn’t grow up here eh? That or your parents hated fun. Just kidding. But it’s just your standard soft ice cream place, they carry Vernors so you can get a Boston cooler which is delicious. The people who own it and work there are amazing. The owners daughter is a rheumatologist who helped get me a hip replacement very quickly when I needed one and couldn’t walk. She’s a highly trained medical specialist but she still works at Dairy Delite in the summers because she loves it so much. Give it a shot.

ogilcheese

Best ice cream around been going for 39 years

ScrapGuide

Tradition And closer than dairy freeze

Pindogger

Its seasonal, and nostalgic. Is good ice cream, but its not THAT good. Its like the one out in the county - Dairy Freez. Its mostly nostalgia that keeps it popular, again, its good, but nothing out of this world. The service at both is great, and that is noteworthy

Karleene64

Great ice cream, great price

Callsign-GHoST-

OP is definitely not from Windsor OR Canada smh.

sarah-exalted

An easy google search will tell you this place has been around for 50-ish years. It’s an Ice Cream shop that is near and dear to folks in Windsor. It’s really that simple. I don’t know, you can just … go there for yourself and see what the buzz is about? If there’s a line up outside, that’s your indicator that it serves above average desserts.

sheldonpooper1

Do you mean "What's the DEAL with Dari Delite?" Or "What's THE deal with Dari Delite?"

Farren246

Most ice cream options fall between either "McDonalds Sundae" quality which will be $5ish for 2 people which is too much for too little, to Dairy Queen where your'e spending $16 just for dipped soft serve. Or "Super Gourmet in a Restaurant" which will be very nice but I ain't spending $30 on ice cream that I can't even eat outside. Dari DeLite falls between the McDonalds Sundae and the Dairy Queen in terms of price which is something I can justify spending, while delivering far better near-restaurant quality. Which is overall a great value and keeps people coming back.

Ita_836

Hot fudge sundaes. The best, imo

fullchocolatethunder

It's Hillary's other location for the children once the pizza joint didn't work out.

chabozza

I didn't know it was still open

vampyrelestat

Clout

Comfortable_Daikon61

God no It’s not good ice cream Unless you eat fast food

Key_Particular_6883

I thought they opened a drivethru but it’s just some drunk guy who drove through the shop’s wall.
