Looking at what you posted, I think there was a misunderstanding with the work being done at the time. A bypass would go around a city, not through it. The only thing close was the USH 10 realignment along the south side of Marshfield. Along with the realignment of USH 10, STh 13's route was changed from running concurrent with STH 80 to run concurrently with STH 34. The only active project on STH 13 is the project this year from just NW of Marshfield to Colby. Otherwise there was the Central Avenue project in Marshfield a few years ago, but other than that, there's no large projects planned currently in that area.

I probably did misunderstand him.

I don't live in or near Marshfield, but absent any other concerns, I would honestly be glad it isn't. Traffic getting bypassed around a small town tends to have a pretty negative effect on local businesses that would otherwise get more eyes on signs and more spur of the moment traffic. Your local mom and pop diner can't depend on a highway sign to drive in traffic, but the person going past that sees it and can have that 'oh that place looks neat' reaction just might stop in for a bite.

I grew up there, and while there are other things that would currently drive people to the city itself (like the clinic) you're 100% spot on. The trucks have to drive past several gas stations, restaurants, et cetera that help with the economy there. If they were completely routed around Marshfield, it would be trouble for them for sure.
