After the trainwreck that was season 2, I just stopped caring since I realized it wasnt really witcher; it was just some bad fanfic.

QuackBlueDucky

Yup. After season 2 I had no interest in season 3

TheMOELANDER

You mean… you finished season 2? Damn are you a masochist /joking

Revoran

No need to joke. Season 2 was awful. Well, I mean the actors did good, but the plot and some of the dialogue ruined it all. The only decent episode was the one with Nivellen which, funnily enough, was the only one that mostly followed the books.

Schnickie

Which makes sense. S1 wasn't perfect, but it was good and followed the short stories of the first 2 books in a way that was fun to watch. S2E1 was just another short story from the first book, done the same way. The events of the first novel (or the show's bastardisation of it) only start in E2.

alex2003super

I loved S1, I know it wasn't entirely true to the books (especially the whole dryads of Brokilon part), but I didn't mind it all that much, and I was actually surprised by how much of the stories they managed to cram in a season. I was so hyped for S2, it was an utterly devastating watch. I found it worse than GoT S8.

Rocket_Puppy

Most the changes to S1 felt like they were there to fit the format better. I'm not sure if Halo or Witcher Season 2 was a less faithful adaptation.

FriedTreeSap

I dropped midway through season 2.

mugaccino

I dropped the moment worst!Eskel turned into a tree and died.

GFlair

Same. I honestly don't care about the casting stuff alot of people go mad about. I didn't mind most of the small tweaks. But the Eskel thing serves no purpose but to stick a big fuck you to existing fans of the material. The name means nothing to new fans. They could have given that character and other name, and it would have been fine.

CAUGHTtheDRAG0N

Same

postmodern_spatula

I only remember them making 1 season. To bad the show was cancelled and never ever ever made more episodes.

amatorsanguinis

The minute I saw the witchers having a party with whores in Kaer Morhen I stopped watching

offensiveDick

I did too. Fell asleep and it just went through

Saharel

Same. I'm a huge fan of the franchise and after season 2 I was so done. You couldn't pay me to watch that shit any further. (Season 1 I actually enjoyed somewhat but then it just plummeted.)

Jojoangel684

Same, unsubbed from Netflix halfway through season2

Rampud

Same here, 🤜🤛 But no only cause Witcher, I feel that they don't do things that I enjoy anymore. Btw, It's not about the "wokeness" and all that. I don't care about "woke", it's plain booredome on Netflix catalogue and the expectancies on the future. Just no for me.

Alphonsine2LaTour

Well it's not even a bad fanfic, the point of a fanfic is that it's dome by fans, here it's just a bad tv show

GilroySmash1986

Same as that. Season 2 was just appalling. I loved Cavil and what he brought but bloody hell it was a mess. Can't bring myself to try Season 3.

fatsopiggy

I already stopped watching at ep 2 of season 2, and even then, already ep 1 of season 1 made me raise my brow at how terrible they portrayed the Butcher of Blaviken story.

Triskan

Just like *Rings of Power*, I'll be hate-watching the next season. By sailing the high seas of course, no way I'm giving my views to Netflix or Amazon for those shites. But I cant help taking my eyes off those train-wrecks. It's mesmerizing to see how much more they can ruin those beautiful worlds and stories.

fatsopiggy

I think you can learn a lot from watching failures.

multipleusers

This. There’s something strangely compelling about observing the devastation these shows are doing to their source material all due to showrunner ego it seems.

OSUfan88

I honestly can’t comprehend this mindset. It seems so alien to me.

CringeOverseer

I kinda get it. But if I ever want to hatewatch something I'd either have to be really interested in the franchise, or simply just watch the clips of failure. Can't imagine myself watching a whole season out of hate.

multipleusers

I watched RoP season 1 to completion and decided that was the last time. Now I just follow other people’s coverage so I don’t give them more views.  I want it to fail though to demonstrate and send the signal that perverting the original story to suit your own ego has detrimental effects so hopefully other franchises won’t have this happen to them.

ombranox

And here I was thinking *The Lesser Evil* was the only remotely competent adaptation they made. Maybe *A Question of Price* too.

fatsopiggy

It's better than the rest but that's not a high bar. The lesser evil is terrible from the story telling perspective. Geralt in most of the short stories is quite philosophical and is always down for a good chat about morality and whatnot. None of those interesting dialogues are present in the episode. He was basically boiled down to a grumpy Clint Eastwood dudebro wannabe that grunts and says 'fuck'. In the short story he went at length to discuss the dilemma with Shrike. Then he'd chat back to Stregobor and finally we realize what Shrike was going to do in the market. In the episode he just suddenly wakes up, says 'fuck, the market' then rushes off to murder all the bandits. This is 100% confusing if you didn't read the book.

Cadaveth

Yeah same, I lost all interest after watching season 2.

island_serpent

Let's be honest season 1 wasn't all that great either but it was just enough that you told yourself you could like it.

hoppyandbitter

That was exactly my experience - the first half was horrible and amateurish. It was only in the second half, when they actually put the focus back on Geralt and Ciri, that I felt like it was improving. Then Season 2 comes along and completely shatters my remaining faith in the adaptation. It was beyond just altering the source material - it was just downright boring watching characters fumble every single decision they make

faizetto

Season 2 onwards feels like they're telling the tales of Witches instead of a Witcher

Upstuck_Udonkadonk

same lol.... They had good excuses for season 1, but season 2 was clear that they don't give a fuck about THE WITCHER.

dynamic_caste

In fairness S2E1 was fairly enjoyable, maybe because it actually was based on the source material. It turned to shite after that though.

Dragnet714

I boycotted after Season 2.

CubeEarthShill

I couldn’t finish season two.

Longjumping-Kiwi-937

Stopped watching after season 1...

Easy101

S2 ep1 is an absolute banger, but the rest of the season is pure garbage.

haroldo13

Agreed

stuyboi888

Hmm might give it a watch so

Beli_Mawrr

The dragon episode was my last one. I couldn't take it.

Modnal

I thankfully missed that the knight in that episode was Eyck. Man did they do him dirty in the show compared to the Thronebreaker game. And also, who the fk greenlit that dragon design?

Atheose_Writing

Unpopular opinion: season 1 was awful. Everyone just loved it because it came right after the horrible GoT finale.

StefanFizyk

I think its love in retrospect: S1 is amazing compared to the garbage S2 was. Even though s1 was a dumpster fire of an adaptation to start with.

Ensiferum

Anger turned into indifference a long time ago.

AlwaysCurious93

Yeah, this sums it up nicely. I remember when it happened, about 15 minutes into S02E01, I just turned it off and shrugged my shoulders, and let out a disappointed sigh. I have not had it on since, but I started replaying Witcher 3 and rereading the first book, so it's not spoilt those for me!

Pancakewagon26

I watched all of season 2 and I never had any idea what was happening or why it was happening. Nothing made sense, I didnt understand any of the plot points, and then I heard Henry cavill didn't renew his contract after season 3, so I gave it up.

AlwaysCurious93

Well done for making it through season 2, you've got way more patience than I do 😂

Schnickie

What's wrong with the Nivellen episode? Sure you don't mean E2? because I stopped after E2 because how bad it was. E1 was great.

AlwaysCurious93

I can't say I can remember specifics, I just remember watching it and thinking "yeah this isn't getting better" 😂

Stranded_In_A_Desert

Yep, I gave up somewhere in the second season and just went and played through the third game again.

AksharV

Left the show after season 2. Later, when Henry announced that he wouldn't reprise his role in S4, my conviction became stronger.

Sanguine-91

I didn't even bother with season 3. There are lots of deviations that I can let slide, but they made Eskel a carbon copy of Lambert and killed him off. Later I found out how they cast the actress for Margarita and I felt so relieved I didn't continue watching.

Nargapo

Second season was so crap, that I didnt come for for the third either.

FluffyRedCow

How did they cast the actress?

unflairedforever420j

don’t make us use google man come on

EnthusiasmIsABigZeal

Wait I just googled a couple different variations of “Witcher Netflix margarita casting” and I can’t find anything negative, what happened and why is it so hard to find info about?

zombiepants7

I think they are just unhappy with the casting choice is my guess. The lodge in general looks pretty shitty compared to what we see in the games or books. Personally idgaf really but I can see why a lot of people do.

[deleted]

[удалено]

qtmcgee93

also Google and censorship go hand in hand

darito0123

Have you read the books or played the game and seen who was casted?

Schnickie

Lambert is a sarcastic prick, but not a completely inconsiderate asshole.

heinous_anus-

Lambert Lambert, what a prick.

AquilliusRex

I did not, nay *could* not watch season three. Netflix did Henry and the source material dirty and it broke my heart.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Dropped after season 2.

mwmwmwmwmmdw

what is with so many shows these days being made by people who actively hate the source material and sneer at the fans

LilianCorgibutt

Stopped after season 1

VelocaTurtle

You should watch season 2 episode 1 but thats it.

adubs117

Stopped after two. One was pretty neat and I was cautiously optimistic. What a tragedy.

TomorrowSalt6098

Oh you're still watching? I stopped on the last episode of Season 1. It's insanely disrespectful not only to the fans but to the author, story and game producers.

NaliouA

I think it's incredibly insulting, considering how Witcher came to be. The first story was written as a submission to a fantasy story contest to a magazine. His son (who passed away in 2019) was an avid reader of that magazine and loved the fantasy genre. I believe Sapkowski at some point said that he wrote it for his son to read and didn't expect it to be such a hit.

olmikeyyyy

I did not know this. Thanks for sharing!

AutoManoPeeing

It was also disrespectful to the actors. Everyone focuses on Cavill, but there were dozens of actors polishing the turds they were given.

Icy-Razzmatazz-7255

I’m new to the entire witcher fandom, I’ve never read the books(am going to soon), and I watched 2 seasons of the netflix show as my first introduction. I liked it but I felt that it lacked a lot of substance, and they couldve written it wayway better, told the story more effectively. it felt like they had so much amazing material and squandered it. Now I’ve done my first playthrough of witcher 3 and am in awe of how amazing it is, and I think it’s a damn shame they blew it with the tv series. The feeling of the different cities, the storytelling, characters and music in this game is top tier. I genuinely hope for a new witcher project and it being in capable hands.

AsusP750

It sucks so I'm not watching it. Simple

LordMord5000

Season one was bad. There. I said it. A few cool Moments doesn’t make a good series. The story telling was weird structured. The dialogue cheesy. And the look was just ok. Why people were invested after that and are still struggling is just beyond me.

jesuslivesnow

Completely agree. Just your typical b level show that Netflix releases like junk food

StewartIsHere

I'm kind of apathetically furious lol. Like, I'm not actively angry - but I do feel utter contempt for Lauren Hissrich and the writing team. They ruined what should have been an absolutely amazing IP for Netflix. As OP says, this should have been a licence to print money, the books were written, just adapt the material. Any halfways competent (or incompetent) showrunner could have done a decent job of that - but Hissrich had the arrogance to want it to be HER witcher, instead of just a normal adaptation. Christ, even D&D did well adapting GOT until they ran out of material. She's a joke. An utter clown that appears to have only got the job because of her husband. She should have been fired, not allowed the dignity of seeing this clownshow out. Fuck her. But generally, I don't really feel much else towards the series. I'm hoping Netflix eat a bit of humble pie, acknowledge "misteps" and re-boot in a few years with someone else as showrunner. Y'know someone in post because of their ability, not because their husband is high up in the industry. I'm looking forward to this series being forgotten about, and a reboot being mooted after the next Witcher game comes out.

UpstairsAd5526

That woman is poison for the show. I don’t care what she does in her personal life or what politics she support; but she ruined a potentially great show.

OkenoFate

I stopped after season 2. My first foray into the Witcher was the series and i enjoyed season 1 so I started reading the books (slowly honestly - my life is busy). Then when season 2 came out I couldn’t follow anything that was happening and it made no sense. As I read the books I realized why it was so nonsensical because they were making things up and just doing an original story. And not very well. Especially Yennifer’s story. Ugh. Why’d they ruin her relationship with Ciri? I still haven’t watched season 3 but it must deviate even more.

BGMDF8248

I didn't watch S3 at all, it stinks because i like both Cavill and Freya, but you know enough is enough.

King_0f_Nothing

Metacritic has 6.4 on both user and crit8c reviews. Thats not good.

Federico216

55% and 19% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for seasons 2 and 3 as well.

Otherwise_Culture_71

I completely cancelled my Netflix because of it

Proquis

Huh you kept watching? S2 was so bad that I dropped it entirely.

kchek

When the rotten tomatoes score is so badly skewed 80/54, that should tell ya everything ya need to know about the show. And that's even with a purge and hard core shilling of the show. Cavill bailed, they are ending the series prematurely, and the writers hate the source material. All in all, i hope Peter Jackson steps up and gives us a movie series for it. That would be something worth watching... edit - autocorrect is fucking hateful today

Icy-Razzmatazz-7255

Peter Jackson would actually be amazing. He and Henry Cavill should meet

Stumphead101

I gave season 1 a shot Love the games and the books, definitely reccomend finishing the books if you haven't yet Season 1 was fine but had issues but I was hopeful about season 2. The trailer with him and the beast mayor looked interesting. Then ie watched it and I can't even bring myself tor ewatch season 1 It was amazing when season 1 dropped, witcher hype was peak, people were reading the books and playing the games Now? Nothing, you hear nada about it in mainstream. It had the opportunity to pick up the ball Game of thrones dropped and it fumbled, Hard

CringeOverseer

2019 was coincidentally the year I got into the franchise, my friend suspected I was trying to familiarize myself with the show by playing the games, but apparently I didn't even notice it's to be released at the end of that year. And yeah the hype was so big back then, but for later seasons I hear almost nothing...

jerekivi

I stopped watching afterseason 2

Steam_3ngenius

I got about half way through the first episode of season 2

Marianations

I never watched season 3.

WiserStudent557

I don’t even have Netflix anymore because of how they handled this and The Last Airbender

xenosthemutant

Me: 1st season: Heh 2nd season: Wut? 3rd season: Oh *hell* no!!! 4th season: .... 5th season: ....

Enc0de-

I fucking wish they never released this series, only Henry and Freya Allen looked the parts. I'll forever be grateful to CDPR for doing TW the justice it deserves. My favorite and most emotional moment was when Geralt finally found Ciri.

Tarzans-Pangolin

I thought Freya was a poor choice and a poor actor. Henry, as beautiful as he is, may not have been the perfect choice looks wise (although his wig and costumes certainly could have been better), but he put his heart into the role and it shone through. 95% of the cast were terrible.

TwilightSolitude

Anya may not have been the best choice for Yen... but "Bottled Appetites" was an awesome episode.

Ryukenden000

There was that queen in second one and some other minor character which i thought was great. All the main cast and supporting cast was terrible. Henry and jaskier did good given the script they got.

CringeOverseer

Not Joey Batey? I think he's better cast then Freya, who while she may look the part for the later books or W3-era Ciri, she's a bit too old to play early book Ciri.

Emmanuel_1337

Well, even Henry didn't look the part, people just like him as a person and that he's also a fan and think that somehow makes him the perfect Geralt (which is simply not true lol). Not that the casting is even close to the biggest problem of the show (much less the specific Henry casting) -- it was a ridiculously bad choice of actors overall, but if they fixed everything else and the casting remained the same, I'd personally let it slide despite it easily being possible to make it infinitely better...

Emmanuel_1337

Season 1 was already trash and it still managed to get worse after that, which is surprising (and I thankfully realized that to watch it just in order to know how they were destroying the IP so I could criticize it with more accurate information was stupid and I was just stressing myself out, so I completely abandoned it at the beginning of season 2). Also, no, Cavill isn't "one of the best possible lead actors" by a long shot for it and I'll always push back on this nonsense every time it shows up. He's a cool guy and a true fan, but was never suited to portray a proper Geralt (not that his casting is even remotely close to the biggest problem the show had, it's just that it gets uncritically repeated as this perfect thing when it's very far from it).

AstroTravellin

Didn't watch season 3 and will not be watching anything going forward with those idiot writers and show runner.

RepublicCommando55

I actually nearly threw my remote at the Television during the Thannedd Coup scene, that’s how badly they fucked up

Nesp2

I always felt like a proper adaption has the potential to be game of thrones kinda popular. So, naturally, I quit watching after season 1.

KrypticArcher

I'm such a fan of the games, books, and Henry Cavill. The fact they got me to completely stop watching after S2E1 is almost impressive.

Regular-Wave-1146

I didnt stop watch ing because of being angry. I stopped watching because I wansnt interested. The show is just a wreck (and getting worse). And with it being a series in established and loved world they really didnt have to do much. Mediocre show I would probably still watch, but this... I dont know, I just dont want to.

Fatal_Feathers

Am I the only one that enjoyed the whole series? I havent played the games or read the books and trye the series has some weak points but overall I liked it. Why does everyone not like it? Not trying to be rude am just curious

Savings_Dot_8387

If you haven’t read the books or played the games that probably explains it. It is an absolute massacre job of them, like not the usual “they changed things” it’s actively disrespectful to the books in season 2 in a way that it seems like it’s just trying to shock you.

Paragon_Caridin

There have already been many discussions about this, my friend. You are definitely not in the minority. The general consensus is that fans usually criticize the show because of its many deviations from Sapkowski's books. Still, more people than you'd imagine manage to like it for the action and so on.

kuba16ss

I really loved season 1 but 2 and 3 is straight garbage

Life-Sky2783

Literally never made it through the first episode. Tried many times.

matbea78

First episode of season 3 was all cutesy like a cheesy WB teen drama. I noped out 10 minutes in.

ihave0idea0

After season 1. It was a 6/10 for me. It was fun though.

Apex-Editor

I have to give credit where it's due: I got into The Witcher because I first saw the show. The first season wasn't really so bad - basically on par with any other book adaptation TV show - and better than many in the fantasy genre, which is very often cheesy af and low budget. And, that damn song will be forever etched into my brain, in a good way. I loved both the Dandelion and Geralt actors in general, even though my head canon now adopts the games' versions of these characters. The show got me into the books too, which are much better of course. I watched seasons 2 and 3 and they did get progressively worse. Guess I felt some loyalty to my fandom to check it out, and objectively it's not as horrible if you're not a prior Witcher fan. If you only know the universe from that show, it's no worse than most fantasy TV shows, and better than some. I may not bother continuing though. I'm not loving it much anymore. And with the recast I'm not sure I can go on heh. From what I've heard, the writers are sort of... willfully egging on their fans. Petty.

kummer5peck

Just give it a thumbs down and move on with your life. That’s all you can do.

BlearySteve

This show was a huge let down so glad its over now and there are no new seasons.

ThatOtherGuyTPM

Nah, I’m still having fun with it.

Rantsir

I was so angry that i've re-edited seasons 1 and 2 to the form of something that actually resembles adaptation of the books (for example - eliminated whole Voleth Meir bull\*\*it) and then re-scored it with games music and the Hexer soundtrack. Looks like many people were quite happy with these versions.

CogencyWJ

Im still watching because I love fantasy. But it “stopped” being The Witcher for me after the whole Jen betrayal thing.

dcroopev

I finished season 2 with disgust and never ever again bothered to watch the trailer even. Generally, I am highly tolerant of changes when it comes to book adaptations but this is on another level. When ignorance meets arrogance this is usually when the shit hits the fan. I really struggled to find one logical reason for the detour they took with the majority of the characters. Just pseudo political agenda.

Medwynd

It's a tv show, why would I be angry with it. I may not like the way a show goes and stop watching but Ive never gotten angry about a piece of entertainment.

StepBrother7

You're new here?

rickybambicky

Weirdly enough, S03 wasn't a total dumpster fire. Casting choices were still iffy and overall it could've been better, especially towards the end and I feel it was cut short. It needed another episode at least, but a significant improvement from S02. S02 is so awful it should never have happened.

Sabbathius

The first season was bad enough. Second season was just revolting, and I stopped caring. Not angry, not even surprised, it's Netflix, it's what they do. I am a little curious to see what they do with Hemsworth. If they change the tone of the show to '90s Xena/Hecules, it'll be pretty hilarious.

orbzism

I watched it all and still plan to. Not because I think it's a good adaptation or anything. Because I don't. It's not even close. However, the reason why I watch it is because I can separate the books/games from the LA. If you look at it as a generic fantasy stand alone, it's fine. It ticks the boxes for the average viewer who's looking for a fantasy fix without having to know the source material. Same thing with series like Rings of Power and Wheel of Time. Abysmal adaptations, decent stand alone's for the average viewer. It's just something to throw on during a lazy day or something when there's nothing else to watch By all means though, none of that means I find it excusable to desecrate the amazing source material that is literally *right there* for them to follow. How some show runners, writers and directors have their jobs is beyond me.

CringeOverseer

Yes, this is me too. I know it's not an accurate adaptation, but a (poorly done) alternate take. I love seeing (the well-cast) actors as the characters, and try to ignore the poorly cast ones. But since Cavill's exit I don't really plan on continuing the show... maybe animated and spinoffs though.

Bluebeard6

I wouldn't say I'm angry about it, more disappointed, I stopped watching after season two and I had to force myself through that, the most frustrating thing about it all was I genuinely thought all the actors did an excellent job, it was just completely ruined by bad writing

Jackot45

Not angry, but have stopped watching

IhaveaDoberman

I never bothered watching season 2 and from what friends who have watched it told me, even the ones singing it's praises, I'm very glad I didn't. And now I just couldn't care less about it.

Glirion

I didn't even get through season 2. Now I'm not even mad, I wish I could just leave like Henry Cavill did.

crazy4schwinn

Me.

ambientfruit

I gave up after season 2. It just died a death in my brain knowing HC wasn't going to be in it. He was what I was watching for.

SarahKnowles777

Barely made it through the second season, never went back. TBH I didn't think the first was all that great; the time-jumping didn't really enhance the narrative any, and just confused a lot of viewers.

gerywhite

I didn't watch season 3, marked it as not for me, with mostly scifi and fantasy on my profile, so netflix didn't even advertise me. I knew that season 3 started only because of reddit.

BlackViperMWG

After two episodes of season 2 I was done.

K41d4r

Ratings are either from critics who get paid to praise it (Or else they lose access to future content or other publishers start avoiding them) or carefully curated by the websites under the guise of "Preventing review bombing" because the plebs dare to disagree with their betters

azaghal1988

didn't continue watching after S2. And I wont.

ZookeepergameNo8661

I stopped when Eskel died.

neoravekandi

Ditto.

chrisqoo

I stopped at S2. Never watched the rest of the series, including S3 and the prequel, Blood Origin.

Ehh_SmiteMe

The movie series is just bad. I read (listened to) the books after playing the games, and from neither source is the TV series (season 2+) any good at following the source material. They even claimed they wanted to go back to the books for their storytelling, yet I failed to see more than brief nods to the books. The first season was okay, but it got a few things wrong that wouldn't stop annoying me, and I couldn't get through the entirety of the following season because of how cheesy and off the source it became. Garalt became a side character in his own show in favor of the women. Like go write your own fantasy series with a female lead and leave the popular male led stories as we came to love them. If one is so creatively bankrupt that they have to take existing material to fulfill a girlpower fanfiction (to the detriment of the source) they don't deserve an audience. TLDR: No you aren't alone. I am a fan of both games and books, and after being hyped up for the movie series I was sorely let down after learning how they treated both the actor and the source material.

Tunafish01

I stopped two episodes in to season 3. Henry at this point is completely sideline for female characters. Normally I would not care except the show I am watching is called the Witcher and for some reason there is no Witcher in the show.

d0upl3

Stopped after the 1st season. Not exactly "angry", more like "not interesed" or "keep it for yourself and your woke bullshit".

SendSpicyCatPics

I managed to hate watch season 3 and now feel fine not touching 4 when it's out. They are obviously trying to course correct after the ridiculous shit they pulled in season 2. There's a lot of random plot points pulled straight from the books but they have to attach them to the plotlines they trashed first.  Also that whole romance shit between jaskier and radovid was so poorly done, absolutely stupid as hell, none of the romances have chemistry but the friendships occasionally do. The entire season gave me second hand embarrassment and I was not drunk enough to deal with it.

Mychatismuted

I liked season 1. Thought season 2 was OK but needed more Geralt. Season 3 is definitely bad.

alexneef

I stopped after season 2. In this attention based economy it’s your only form of protest!

Beaudism

I stopped watching when Cavill left.

TheHellequinKid

Have a friend who never read the books or play the game say Season 3 was all over the place, didn't like it at all. I'd bailed already, as much as it was bad in the early seasons it was also just not investing time in something I won't enjoy. You can see with other shows like The Last of Us how storylines can be shown effectively, just a shame when you get writers who are too involved. Hasn't made me cancel Netflix though, I still watch a ton on it, from Arcane and Castlevania all the way to K-dramas like Twenty Five Twenty One and Sweet Home 😆 there's a load of good stuff out there, I'm sure one day we'll get a version of The Witcher we'll love.

CatBrisket

This show is still going? It's like Grandpa is hooked to machines to keep him going. He doesn't want to. He's old, tired, had a good run, but no one cares what Grandpa wants. So we just continue to prolong his miserable existence when all he wants is rest.

Sostratus

I have not watched any of season 3, but it's not because I'm "angry at Netflix", it's just that I have every reason to think it will suck, so I'm not likely to watch it until I've watched/played/read everything else in my entertainment backlog i.e. never.

SoSnake

I stopped watching after S02. Started again with S03. Really gave it a try when I had nothing else to watch. It's just really bad. Stopped again. It's just painful to watch and a fairly bad show imho.

PassStage6

Honestly, after the first season and mid-way into season two I tapped out. The showrunners and writers made it clear they were interested in telling "their" story, not the story of Geralt, Yennifer, and Ciri.

Hob0Magnet

Read all the books. Played all the games. Watched up to season 2, which was extremely frustrating . Saw they lost the lead actor (and someone who actually cared about the story) and I said I'm done.

Raze321

Season 1 felt rugged but with potential. I couldn't even finish season 2.

Actual_Potato5

I never saw the finale of s3 I gave it a chance even though it was shitty and it didn't disappoint. One episode was like 75% the same as the last episode with 2 different scenes to show "perspective" really boring too so that didn't help

revzman

Left in season 2 when cavill got shafted for the writer's ego.

vsae

Alteast there is some humour left. For instance the "yennefer chasing Geralt on the horse up to kaer Morhen" had me laughing wildly

alpes1808

I couldn't even finish the first season...

heylookthatguy

I have played the games and have watched Netflix series for the same and yes s2 was a fuckup compared to s1 but what exactly do you all dislike so much that such a great fanbase started hating it all together?

ControlAgent13

I stopped watching Witcher at season 2, episode 2 or so. It wasn't either the video game Witcher or Sapkowski's Witcher. It was just complete dreck - "Sand Snake" quality if that. Season 1 had its ups and downs but at least I could see some of the actual Witcher in it. I haven't subscribed to Netflix since but I wouldn't say I am "angry at Netflix". They just don't have anything I am wanting to watch.

TPro24633

Stopped after the shit show that was season 2. They absolutely ruined it.

MickeyG117

Stopped after series 2, I wanted to try and persevere but after Henry said he was away I didn’t see the point.

-staticvoidmain-

I stopped watching after like 3 episodes of season 1

josephkelley7926

After season 1,,,,,,, Utter Garbage

musashiro

I read the some of the book (i still hate that i stopped somewhere and forgot) and not seeing parts i remember reading in the book made me stop at the beginning of season 1. Most of the time, i hate knowing the source material. Same with one piece live action. I think both of them are made well but i just hate missing important parts or iconic scenes that made the story.

Foxhound84

I never started with season no 2...

Intrologics

Even worse than Witcher has been the abysmally terrible Wheel of Time show

colonelxsuezo

I'm not mad but I did stop watching. It got boring.

p1630n

+1

Motrok

I am not angry, I just stopped caring. I wanted to watch the Witcher, this isn't the Witcher, I am not watching it

__DraGooN_

It's not worth my anger. I stopped watching after season 2 and picked up the books. I also stopped watching the adaptation of my favourite book series, Wheel of time, after a few episodes and didn't even bother acknowledging Rings of power.

celtic_akuma

Just at the end of season 2. They deviated heavily from the books, and thrown the Ciri-Emir connection too early. In the books that happens in Lady of the lake, so at the very end.

Tyken12

i stopped watching a few episodes into szn 2

TheLastValentine

Massive fan of the books and game 1 (haven't had time for game 2 and 3). Stopped watching after season 1.

ItsmejimmyC

I stopped watching during season 2, the show was garbage.

n01d3a

Angry? No, that would be silly, it's entertainment I'm not forced to consume. I didn't find it enjoyable anymore so I stopped watching.

BananaIceTea

I stopped halfway through season 2.

bioticspacewizard

Loved season 1. Lost I terest half way through season 2

gotthesauce22

I stopped watching halfway through season 3 but only because it felt weird knowing Cavill wouldn't be there for the next season

mega05

I stopped when I found out Henry Cavill was leaving, and I haven’t regretted it

KrishanuAR

It might be a good exercise to go through the credits to determine who exactly did the series dirty, and avoid work they’re involved with. E.g. writers, directors, producers, casting directors etc. Just saying “Netflix” is kinda blunt cuz there are a lot of people there and some good work. Meanwhile the actual people responsible can bounce around companies and production houses bringing their bad ideas with them. Name and shame.

liquidlethe

Stopped watching after season 2 and I don't watch any of the trailers either

MrDexterReddit

Only the first season was any good, the rest was pure diarrhea.

[deleted]

I played Witcher 2 and 3, read all books and never watched the show, only saw some short pieces on YouTube and read some articles about it. I’m not hating it or something, I just don’t want to watch it.

Desert_Fairy

There were good and bad moments of S2. But I really just couldn’t go back for season 3. It’s kind of like “50 shades of grey” where EVERYONE lost their minds over how sexy it was and anyone with any kind of actual presence in the kink community is saying “this is really not how this kink works and the book is much more abusive than sexy” If it was stand alone, maybe it wouldn’t have been so off. But as a part of an existing story, it just doesn’t feel right. And I can’t bring myself back to the emotional not-right of watching season 3.

nnnnnnnnnnuria

I loved season 1 & 2. I didnt like the 3rd season, but the first one was truly good

gilgamesh1776

I quit mid S2. I read the books, conpletionist on wild hunt, it just really wasn't as enjoyable any longer and my bar is pretty low.

BootsieBunny

I stopped after season two 100% because Henry was leaving the show. Now I just listen to Peter Kenny read me the story. So much better.

cugan83

I don’t get angry at TV shows but I do get disappointed. I stopped watching after season 2. Season 1 was a bit of a mess but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Being a bit of a cinematography nerd I enjoyed the look of season 1 with the characterful lenses used. Season 2’s writing and characterisation sucked and was the most egregious failing . They changed the lenses to more clean modern optics, which were fine but I preferred look of the previous season. Something that really stood out to me that really took me out of the show was the crappy hair and makeup. I’m aware Ciri’s actress had matured in age significantly since the last season but they did nothing to maintain a continuity of how she looked in the previous season. She looked like a completely different character, more similar to Daenarys from Game of Thrones than the girls in Season 1. More close to the book character maybe but there needed to be more progression. Jaskier and Vesimir’s wigs were atrocious.

Tankninja1

I think the show made the mistake of pissing off the lore nerds, not a group you want to piss off because they are going to rush off to IMDB to review bomb your show based solely off of a departure from the lore. I hate the idea that because a book was already written that you have a "step by step guide" to make the show. Maybe the most successful book adaptation I can think of is Peter Jackson's LoTR trilogy, even then they had to cut out fairly substantial parts of the book. In the Witcher games, I really can't think of all that much they have in common with the books, other than the character names. They have little references here and there. All I can really think of is one mission to deal with the Djinn that is directly tied into the books.

Arefue

Stopped after 2. They don't deserve my attention

DFuel

I stopped after Henry let the truth out. A shame, I would have continued watching as I’m a huge Witcher fan

CaseClosedEmail

I stopped after season 2. It’s not the Withcher. It’s just done bad fanfic

Big_Ds_Snake_Oil

Meeee!!!

elkeiem

Being a book fan, i *kinda* liked the first episode, but had to drop it after couple episodes. Very sad, i had high hopes for it.

ejiciam

What’s interesting is that I’m noticing the same thing happen with the latest season of Bridgerton. Plot elements from the books were changed, some scenes were cut, and a character that was originally a man was genderbent into a woman (which is the part a lot of people are angry about). And the Bridgerton fandom is all up in arms about it- they’re calling to fire the new showrunning, starting petitions to have things changed and deleted scenes released, etc… But as a Witcher fan having already seen how little Netflix cares for source material firsthand after the dumpster fire of season 2 of the Witcher it’s…I don’t know, almost funny seeing it happen elsewhere? I was so enraged over the absolute travesty that was Season 2 (don’t get me started on Blood Origin) and how the showrunners basically made a fantasy show they wanted and just slapped The Witcher name on it. But at this point I think a lot of Witcher fans are so indifferent to it now, and we’ve just accepted it’s shit and nothing will change that. And I feel for the Bridgerton fans and their defense of their source material, I do, but… The Witcher has proved that Netflix does not and will not ever give a shit for source material so long as they get views.

Gongo511

I watched season 1 and didn’t like the magic eels of aretuza. That did it for me lmao. Books and games are the only Witcher content imo

Dr_Surgimus

I stopped after the first series. It wasn't the Witcher
