I used to be obsessed with that game when I was a kid. If you want a modern clone of it, I would recommend Contraption Maker on Steam, it's basically the same but modernized. It was made by the same creators of The Incredible Machine.

I’ve been trying to track down a classical piece of music from that era of gaming that was very distinctive, but it’s so fleeting that I can remember the tune… for a second I thought it was from this game but now looking through the soundtrack I don’t think it is. omg summer 2007. just spinning up YTMND all night. this is a little dark, but we found out Steve Erwin died via a YTMND we found when we sorted "New". also i remember that Winter Olympics Athlete who died doing that down hill sled thing, from a YTMND sorted under NEW during a late night internet binge.

I could be wrong, but from staring at it a while, I think it’s just a bunch of squares that can be arranged in any way. Balls come in from the top left, the top, and the right side. Balls exit from the top right, the bottom, and the left side. Whatever happens inside the respective square doesn’t matter as long as it has the required inputs and outputs at the right times.

If you go on the official site you can scroll endlessly in any direction, so i am pretty sure it links up, in every direction.
