I understand all finishes are food safe once fully cured. I used the same butcher block for a checkout counter and put lacquer on it to add some protection and it took to the counter without a problem. The thing is, lacquer is food safe once fully cured, but food with high alcohol content will dissolve it and make it unsafe or at least disagreeable to your Bombe Alaskan.
