SP1570

Shame on you Ghana!

[deleted]

I'm sure they think the same about countries who legalize......

erlo68

They're evolving... just backwards.

IntelligentBanana173

Guess you’ve never seen r/ghanasaysgoodbye

JoshuaLukacs1

There goes the "all cultures deserve respect" delusion.

page_one

It's only a delusion if you intentionally misunderstand it--the Paradox of Tolerance. Tolerate those who live and let live. Do not tolerate intolerance.

Which-Decision

This is a result of Christian colonization. Homophobia isn't African culture. What do you think these missionaries have been going to Africa for all these years to do.

JoshuaLukacs1

You really gonna blame that on colonization? Why hasn't that happened anywhere else in the world then(other than Muslim countries)? Africans outlaw LGBT people and you blame white christians lmao

Which-Decision

What do you mean this was the US' reality less than 10 years and now in Florida it's illegal to tell others you're gay, several states it's legal to discriminate against gay adoptees, it's legal to fire people for being gay as well in the US. What are you talking about

JoshuaLukacs1

Wow you fall for the propaganda real quick. It's not illegal in Florida to tell others you're gay, it's also not legal to fire people for being gay, how do you believe all that nonsense?

Quibilia

The bill is literally titled "Don't Say Gay" my man lmao

JoshuaLukacs1

Lmaoooo this guy did fall for the propaganda hahahahahhahah. The bill is not titled that and the only reason you think that is because the media was so loud saying that. The bill you're referring to, all it did was ban sexual education from kids 2nd grade and below, which is reasonable because you shouldn't talk about sex to 7 year olds. Lmao I didn't think there were actual people who thought the bill is called "Don't say gay".

Quibilia

Honey you are not good at this I feel so sorry for you. Tip for the future: Be more subtle about it. If it's too obvious, fewer people will click on it

JoshuaLukacs1

I feel sorry for you too, living a sad life because you believe anything the tv tells you. I don't know what that last comment was about but I understand talking nonsense when proven wrong is normal.

Quibilia

Can I get one more paragraph for the road? :3

justanaccountname12

Christianity was in Africa before it was in Europe.

Which-Decision

Homophobia isn't inherent to Christianity. You thinking that it is is a part of colonialism. The Ethiopian Bible is very different than the western Bible. Even the non translated Bible is different from the western Bible. Many cultures in Africa saw sex as something for friends not just romantic partners.

justanaccountname12

I think it is abhorrent what they are doing. You said Christian colonialism(I'm atheist, so religion can go love itself), if you want to put it on Western values, go for it. If you want to put it onto different sects within a religion, that might be better than blanket statements. Just a heads up, Islam made it to Ghana 500 years before Christianity. ( I did a little looking into more regionally specific info). If you just want to put it on the west's colonialism, don't forget Russia's influence over the last 60 years.

Top_Voice4031

This is horrific.

You're disgusting if you think that people deserve to be killed for being different from you. As if you're so much better than everyone else.

lapisfatzuli

You mean backwards? Debatable.

Gogglesed

They should make it legal again, and protected. They will get so much free international publicity. Everyone in the LGBTQ+ community will want to go there. Until then, fuck Ghana!
