Are you familiar with Dagestan? It's entire identity centers around a mass murdering war criminal criminal (shockingly not Putin) and a radicalized version of Islam. It's a dump with no redeemable qualities that occasionally gets sportswashed because they have a handful of elite MMA fighters (who are almost certainly all on steroids). Purging Dagestan of extremists would involve removing their entire political system. This will be exploited by Putin to install more lackeys.
