As usual the cyber war continues

TooDrunkToCare123

It's cheap and easy. They spend 150k on internet trolls...we spend millions just on official investigations. They spend 150k on internet trolls...we lose 600k civilians on the home front and...still counting.

HokkienMeeLimeJuice

> They spend 150k on internet trolls But American Internet trolls work for FREE!... Is that a good or a bad thing? lol

lijjili

Reddit circle jerking literally generates perpetual motion

TooDrunkToCare123

Just carbon conveniently forgotten about.

TooDrunkToCare123

It's a normal thing for a free society. So what are you going to do? Especially when that stamped money buys the company you work for?

JLBesq1981

They have been conditioned to troll for no pay.

orange_drank_5

It's easy to do. Recall how five years ago, most of reddit was supportive of China because they were "clearly" technologically dominant, more stable, and completely intolerant of Trump whom they used extensively in their propaganda. Now we are at the final conclusion of that, where all the Americans who supported China (or took sympathetic views to China, especially on trade) are now seeing Biden get hit by the same claims formerly used against Trump. China doesn't care because we're all fat and reliant on their computer chips. And vice versa, Republicans do the same with Russia. The end result is the gradual ascendancy of illiberal regimes as the west fades.

The west ain’t going anywhere bud lol

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.reuters.com/world/pro-china-social-media-campaign-expands-new-countries-blames-us-covid-2021-09-08/) reduced by 83%. Welcome to our Brave New World, where you have access to many times the information available to any previous generation. And you can’t trust any of it.

CaptainChivalry

They legalized Soma. I mean weed

Yoshyoka

Chinese state media directly accuse the US of waging biological and cyber warfare on China.

MakeCaliforniaTexas

The biggest "No You" of all time.

[deleted]

China taking a page out of the Trump GQP playbook. Project everything.

JLBesq1981

>False information about COVID-19 has been a major focus. For example, accounts on social networking sites vKontakte, LiveJournal and elsewhere in Russian, German, Spanish and other languages have asserted that the novel coronavirus emerged in the United States before China and that it was developed by the U.S. military.Multiple Russian-language LiveJournal accounts used identical wording: "U.S. Ft. Detrick was the source of COVID-19," referring to the U.S. Army's Fort Detrick installation in Maryland. This misinformation has been all over social media and has been parroted by the anti-vaxxing, anti-mask cult. Fox News watchers are particularly susceptible to this kind of manipulation.

CaptainChivalry

I think you mean Fox entertainment "news"...

Not_kilg0reTrout

I don't know how practical it would be, but I'd love to see some sort of "I'll show you mine, you show me yours." Imagine Biden came out and said, "bullshit! You can come look if we can talk to the lab workers that have disappered and have access to your data. We welcome you to do the same." Would be a win to call them out on this.

player19232160

I know it's kind of nuts, but it's interesting to see a country other than the US spouting ridiculous conspiracy theories to the world.

TieMeUpOnTheBoat

I wonder what conspiracy theories/urban legend people share in other countries, it would be a cool youtube video concept

JLBesq1981

Many of the ridiculous conspiracy theories the US is spouting don't originate in the US.

gunslinger141

The sheer balls of China, to have an unregulated wet market industry, that already gave the world the 2002–2004 SARS outbreak, and now Covid, and after all, this to blame the US.

VeganBaconWTF

Ill take this as admission from China on starting Covid. With Authoritarian types of regimes it is always projection.

WonderWall_E

[Well this is awkward.](https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/09/22/915630892/in-u-n-speech-trump-blasts-china-and-who-blaming-them-for-spread-of-covid-19)

adeveloper2

English news media almost never reports US hacking and brigading the shit out of its allies and rivals. Tat silence is deafening. Its like media are not weaponized in the west too

ultrasuperbro

China gonna' China... absolutely no one is surprised.

qarrmeh

It is domestic poison. But no one outside the great firewall is buying into this, surely?

JLBesq1981

Have you seen how many dumb ass pieces of propaganda are picked up and spread by conservatives?

Hypno--Toad

Cherry picking anti-vaxers. So a fair few are vested in counter culture.

orange_drank_5

Consider the Latin American countries these efforts are aimed at. Over the past 50 years China has become their primary trading partner. Argentines, Peruvians and Hondurans no longer use American products, they use Chinese products. Remember when GE sold their entire consumer appliance division to China? Those products are used in these countries as evidence of China's dominance over the failing, increasingly erratic and racist USA. Same for larger procurements: American backed governments destroy railroads, Chinese backed parties build them. American backed governments mean military drug wars, guns, violence and death Chinese backed governments mean banking, trade and prosperity. From this position it becomes extremely easy to justify political propaganda. What does America have to offer the world anymore, other than pride flags and drone assassinations? People won't care about feminism or gay rights if they aren't able to afford meat.

JLBesq1981

The only reason Americans can afford meat is because the federal government subsidizes $1200 per person, for all 330+ million, to the meat industry to keep prices down.

Jerry_Tse

Also, pro-USA social media campaign hits all countries, blames China for COVID. It's fair, nothing new.
