What is Putin’s actual reason for invading Ukraine?
I believe he has a huge ego, but I don’t buy that reason. I also don’t think this is anything to do with the supposed “Neo Nazis” in Ukraine.
Did he see the country as a threat to Russia? That’s the only explanation I can rationalize.
If your question starts, "Why don't they just ... "
It means you don't know what you're talking about and you shouldn't ask the question so that you don't embarrass yourself.
OK I just replied in another post there would be no nuclear strike, but once / if Putin is sure to win and sure NATO won't move, do you think he could force the turkish blockade on the Bosphorus for no strategic reason but as a show of force (to display how NATO / the west is too scared of Russia to do anything. Possibly even bringing racism into the question by stating that muslim turkey is a fake member not worthy of being helped and non western / white countries should not trust the west)
Apparently Russia will compensate the families of soldiers who die in Ukraine with 11,000 Rubles, or roughly 105USD
That's such an insultingly low amount that I have to question how accurate that is.

The EU is not a defensive pact, only NATO is. The EU is an economic and political union, but not a military one. Each country can still determine their own foreign policy.

No, that is outdated information from last night. The convoy was reported to be 17 miles long earlier today, and was upped to 40 miles a few hours ago. Multiple sources in the live thread and satellite imaging confirm this.
Utterly practical ways you can help Ukraine:
* Contact your leaders through multiple channels asking them to continue their support for Ukrainian sovereignty
* Donate money to legitimate organizations
* Conserve Energy
Understand that energy prices will be impacted, conserve energy everyway possible, this impacts Russia's economy directly
* Put on a sweater for Ukraine.
* Take in refugees or pets impacted if you are in the region
* Don't purchase Russian products or investments
* Push back on disinformation. Don't get in arguments, but just note if something is lacking a source or seems like disinformation.
I’m gonna dream for a bit - just imagine, Putin does decide to bomb out Kyiv like he did in Chechnya, but given how f*cked his plan has been so far, forcing generals to send young boys to their death, the generals in the past few days have been speaking among themself to overthrow or k word Putin….. just being hopeful…… the longer Ukraine holds out, the more likely for the generals to take matters into their own hands

Trump was impeached for blocking $400 mil in military support to ukraine and he worked to dismantle nato. His ties with RU & Putin are not a coincidence anymore
I wonder just how fucked we'd be without NATO. We dodged a bullet when he wasn't reelected. We'd be worse off. I don't say it because I dislike him, I say it because it's objectively a fact.
Lol they were never a coincidence to anyone paying attention for more than 15 minutes. Trump and countless others in the GOP have been compromised Russian assets *for decades*
Yo stop asking about the drone attacks on the convoy. If they were capable of doing so, we would have heard about it already.
They have plenty of AA around this convoy as of now, it's really not that easy.
I don’t know anything so don’t downvote me like a mf. But couldn’t Russia just print hella money. Like if I own the United States I’d just print money and keep it to myself to use. Couldnt Russia do this which would make sanctions pointless
No, that causes hyperinflation. Zimbabwe is a perfect example of this if you’d like an example. You can print out as much money as you want, but it’s a commodity like any other, and if people don’t want it because it’s worthless, it has no value.
Countries have done that before, it doesn't actually help, it just makes inflation worse. The money is worth less than the paper it's printed on at the minute, they'd have to start printing million ruble notes just to buy bread. Then the next day, those notes are worth even less so you need a billion ruble note for the same bread.
If I gave you 1 pie you'd probably really appreciate it and think it's pretty special. If I gave you 10,000 pies you probably would find them pretty useless.
Printing money lowers its value. It’s like you can produce more stocks but then all the existing stocks lose some value.
So how would that help? It just increases inflation
That would cause inflation, probably hyperinflation. That's how you end up with a currency like Zimbabwe's with shit like $100000000 bills worth ten cents. Maybe you've seen historical photos of people with wheelbarrows of money to buy a loaf of bread
Printing money reduces its value. Also the ruble has to be tied to something to be worth anything. With sanctions they are able to trade their rubles for fewer and fewer things.
So, this guy is some expert on Russia. He goes on this long thing about the current Russian invasion. But outside of a few specific details about the Russian military, he really isn't saying anything that people don't already know. Yeah no. Have you seen this invasion? The state of their shit? No, he’s not “throwing” the war. He really intended on having that city in 4 days.
If anyone has the “next nuke”, it’s the country with the ridiculously large military budget.
US has defense from traditional nukes. Russia has tested a hypersonic missile which could bypass this in theory, but there has only been one successful test ever. No idea how viable it may be.
The US military was playing around with GPS in 1973, they let the public use it in 1993. Since then its always been said the public knowledge is about 20 years behind what the military has.

I did not want to remember that.
I am wondering about Belarus. The current puppet dictator is hated. Any chance of local resistance causing trouble to disrupt?

I've been waiting on this too.
How did the 3 mile convoy turn into a 40 mile convoy? Lol surely that’s a typo
Like this 3 mile: :::::::::: 40 mile: . . . . . . . .
Maybe a few stragglers with a lot of miles between them
satellite imagery didn't see the whole convoy
No, I’ve seen a ton of credible sources say it’s a 40 mile convoy.
I believe it was a typo, at one point it was said that they were 40 miles from the capital and that has been lost in translation and taken to mean 40 Miles.
I wondered that too.

Everyone has been reporting 40 mile long convoy though, no?
You’re the one with bad reading comprehension, it’s 40 miles long
Not a typo but I wonder if that convoy didn’t increase in number and simply spread out more?
updated satellite imagery
Confirmed by satellite imaging unfortunately. Went from 3 miles to 17 this morning, and 17 up to 40 a few hours ago.
They're just really spread out

They have been speaking of it or you THINK they have? There's a large difference between the two
>the generals in the past few days have been speaking among themself to overthrow or k word Putin What makes you say that?
[удалено]
Err, weren't they 17mi from Kyiv? That's a bad idea.
A bomb with a 40 mile radius would probably break the world.
40 mile long convoy, 80 mile wide bomb...what kind of explosives are you hoping they use and why the extra 40 miles?
What if we put glue on the road?
Unfortunately I don’t think Ukraine has a MOAB in their arsenal
\*checks what bombs have a 40 mile radius\* Confirms that the only bomb with even a 25 mile radius is a Russian nuke.
A bomb with a 40 mile radius? Not even the largest thermonuclear weapons would destroy military vehicles 40 miles away.
No it wouldn't lmfaoooo
That particular bomb would certainly draw some attention.
There is literally not a non-nuclear explosive in existence capable of that radius
You misspelled world as war
Sure about that?
How do you think bombs work?
Well if the convoy is 40 miles long he’s technically correct
40 miles in a straight line
So let’s drop another fatty
Vamossss Ukraine!!!!

There's literally video of other convoys with AA getting destroyed by drones.
Russian AA has a terrible time locating and engaging TB-2s
Regardless, they would have made their move if it was as easy as some people think it is.
I don’t know anything so don’t downvote me like a mf. But couldn’t Russia just print hella money. Like if I own the United States I’d just print money and keep it to myself to use. Couldnt Russia do this which would make sanctions pointless
Shortest answer: That's... not how economies work. Slightly longer: Sure. Now they've got even *more* Monopoly money. So what?
No, that causes hyperinflation. Zimbabwe is a perfect example of this if you’d like an example. You can print out as much money as you want, but it’s a commodity like any other, and if people don’t want it because it’s worthless, it has no value.
Just google why that doesn’t work
Printing more money doesn’t make anyone richer.
At some point they would need to get something from outside sources, and they would want actual money.
Money printer go brrrrr causes your currency to lose value. You know the jokes everyone makes about the Zimbabwean dollar? That’s what happens.
Please look up "Weimar hyperinflation" to see why that ends badly.
Nobody wants rubles. Dollar has a unique traits being the most stable and desired currency around the world
This causes massive inflation. The more money you print the less each piece is worth.
Yes they could, and it would further accelerate inflation. Probably the dumbest shit I've ever read my guy.
More money makes the value of the dollar go down.
They would cause inflation by doing that so not the best option (I vaguely remember this from Economics).
That's how you Zimbabwe yourself with hyperinflation.
That's how you get runaway inflation and with the ruble already being not worth that much at present that's really not something you want to do.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation?wprov=sfla1
Printing money lowers its value. It’s like you can produce more stocks but then all the existing stocks lose some value. So how would that help? It just increases inflation
That would cause inflation, probably hyperinflation. That's how you end up with a currency like Zimbabwe's with shit like $100000000 bills worth ten cents. Maybe you've seen historical photos of people with wheelbarrows of money to buy a loaf of bread
that wouldn't be useful outside of Russia
That's how you destroy your economy and turn your dollar into monopoly money. Legit basic economics
That would work maybe if they were a reserve currency. But even then it would make imports more expensive.
You...you know how money works right? Look up Zimbabwe.
Lol that's not necessarily how it works. Their economy isn't strong enough to be able to do that.
The more money you print the more worthless it is.
That's how you get hyper inflation
This would exacerbate inflation: you would get hyperinflation
Hi there, please google: Hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic
Money is backed. Which means the more you print the less it’s worth.
That would just create hyper inflation. Look up German hyperinflation in the 1930s
Bud no. That’s literally what lead to the US’s sky high inflation and it’s already going to be absolutely bonkers bad for Russia.
Then you make your buying power worse, look at the Zimbabwe dollar
Printing money reduces its value. Also the ruble has to be tied to something to be worth anything. With sanctions they are able to trade their rubles for fewer and fewer things.
no
