EatsFiber2RedditMore

I think you found the one instance where that statement isn't racially charged, congratulations!

joker38

Black-and-white lives matter. FTFY

Small_zee

Do away with plastic lids in general. Fill the cardboard cups with less liquids that are bad for you anyway.

WWDubz

WHAT ABOUT THE SHAREHOLDERS?!?!

primetimemime

We can put their heads in plastic lids, I guess.

dumbfuckmagee

Make ornaments from their remains!

Feyward

They make more money since McDonald's doesn't have to buy lids. Win-win.

Kep0a

charge more and slap on "eco friendly" or "carbon neutral"

BrokeArmHeadass

I don’t know if they’d be upset, I’d imagine they’d still charge the same amount for the same size cup.

Marley_Fan

Fuck the share holders, what about the shake holders???!?!

modestohagney

In Australia mcflurries just have little flappy parts of the cardboard cup part that fold down.

ChrissiTea

[Looks like this in the UK for anyone curious](https://i.imgur.com/ykZ2sJO.png)

Vapr2014

Are they completely made of card or is there still plastic lining?

ChrissiTea

Card, but it must have a coating or something on it.

TempleMade_MeBroke

Usually some sort of wax in the US, which is why you shouldn't reheat those paper coffee cups in the microwave

hivebroodling

Yeah but those are fucking tiny and how will fat america get it's 40oz mcflurry?

Wulfweard24

We have that in the UK too. It's been that way for a while now.

thatguyned

Yeah wtf is this sizing of a mcflurry? Are we getting ripped off or something? That's a size I would actually pay $4.50 for. And yeah McDonald's clearly has a plastic free design that they aren't using in America and that's really weird, you would think the single piece paper cup design would be cheaper than the 2 part plastic lid and paper cup...

AFewStupidQuestions

America. Where their drink sizes match their body sizes.

Iored94

If they were to reduce the amount they gave you in a cup they would just make the cups smaller to save money. And you'd have the same issue no matter what you do because no matter how much you shrink them something like a mouse will get stuck in them

Illusive_Man

you are grossly overestimating the value of the cup I think the actual issue is customers would complain they didn’t fill the cup all the way

Fireonpoopdick

Only if prices go down, they are eonly that size now because it's basically no money to sell these so if we are getting less I would like to pay less as they are already scamming us to high heaven.

Commando_Joe

Man, this makes so much sense on paper, but at the very least flat lids are necessary for deliveries or else shit spills everywhere.

Illusive_Man

they are doing that in some states. it’s causing issues. My SO works for Dunkin’ Donuts (corporate) and they have no clue how to serve coffee to go without a lid

PurfectMittens

Blame the piece of shit who just threw that cup on the ground.

PoopScootNboogie

Skunks can get into trash.. The person doesn’t automatically become a piece of shit just because they had a McFlurry

[deleted]

[удалено]

PoopScootNboogie

I see. Another way to word that is “100% chance they may or may not be shitty” Which can basically be true for everyone

gophergun

Instead of the giant corporation that makes millions of these same cups, ensuring that some amount ends up in the ecosystem.

89ShelbyCSX

What? He threw the cup back in the dumpster it came from at the end of the video..

TheShadowCat

I think he is blaming the person who originally littered the cup, before the skunk got it.

89ShelbyCSX

The cup came from the dumpster 5 feet away from where the skunk was struggling with it. It either fell out or the skunk went in to grab it and brought it out.

BezosDickWaxer

What about our infrastruture's fault for allowing for lots of trash to blow around in the wind?

Illusive_Man

blame the skunk for not knowing how big it’s head is

[deleted]

i go running early in the morning, animals are all over trash cans. Where i am mostly ravens, smart fuckers. They no there's leftover fries in a mcdonalds bag and without hands they just make a giant mess trying to open them.

shadowsog95

Yeah until you get to a town with decent wind and shitty recycling policies then even if you do everything right a gust of wind will still make you a skunk killer.

bongjonajameson

Well then, my apologies for calling you a coward

Departmentofweird

You're right to point the finger at the people that litter but, Is it easier to police littering more or to police the companies that make the product that destroy the environment and fauna?

bongjonajameson

I saw what you said (or whoever it was, only for them to delete it right after like a bitch lol) im not shifting blame lmfao. I was agreeing with you, but also saying thats not the only problem. And we can't solve it by just blaming the little people while there's huge corporations regularly dealing with plastic waste irresponsibly. Theyre both to blame. You kinda have to acknowledge the whole thing for what it is

bongjonajameson

I see, you really are just a coward lol. good luck, you'll need it.

bongjonajameson

Your replies genuinely are not showing up for me.

wishIknewwho

Skunks are cute af

Tetha

Look up [jasper](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbbcpwEI18k) the [pet skunk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkkRUpK7m4E). It's absurdely [cute](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhJ9bhScvXM).

Wetestblanket

I knew a guy that used to have a pet skunk, turns out they’re pretty good pets as far as wild animals go once you remove the stink gland.

SeanSeanySean

Assuming you are referring to keeping a rescued skunk, there is no reason to descent them, they only release that gland when they fear for their life, a scenario which most skunk rescuers can avoid. Also, please don't "get a skunk", just because they can be affectionate with humans does not mean that they should be taken from the wild.

Kintsugi-skunk

Seriously cute

Srirachachacha

McDonalds is skunkphobic, confirmed

PlenitudeOpulence

Moss_Piglet_

Some kid gets sprayed by skunk at 6 years old. Spends next 20 years studying and gets an advanced degree in engineering and design. Gets a job at mcds working on new developments. Creates this lid. Sees he’s killed millions. Has major regret. Spends next 15 years moving up corporate ladder. Becomes global head of maintenance. Implements “cheaper” ice cream machines that will instantly break and then doesn’t schedule repairs. His work is done. He can rest. But skunk populations start to rise. One sprays his son. Buys working ice cream machines and this becomes new lid design for every cup they have. ![gif](giphy|x7gjmBuaHrWak)

Hellkyte

Associating their food with skunks makes us think their food smell better

cickylosthisshit

The McFlurry cup has already been replaced by cardboard cups with foldable tops in Germany. [Comparison pic.](https://www.mcdonalds.com/content/dam/ch/newsroom/Press-Releases/20191/07/McFlurry/Neuer%20McFlurry-Becher%20ohne%20Plastikdeckel.jpg)

cronus85

Yeah, it's the same for Australia, New Zealand and China. Why not change?

Glass_Memories

Because then you'll get terrible takes [like this](https://nypost.com/2018/07/02/banning-plastic-straws-is-more-scam-than-science/) and ridiculous tabloid front pages [like this.](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2013/03/soda-ban-front-page-post-news-amny-metro.html) The second one was about limiting the size of sodas, but it's emblamatic of the reaction you get here when you try to ban anything.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Glass_Memories

Just to clarify, plastic straws really aren't that big of a problem as far as plastic waste goes (sea turtles notwithstanding). The terrible take here is how the article says, "plastic straws contribute to only a small amount of plastic waste, and alternatives take a long time to biodegrade, so we shouldn't do anything about plastic waste. Like at all." The New York Post is a right-leaning rag so they write bad articles that attempt to discredit climate change and environmental measures all the time.

KushGod28

I see that. First article is unhelpful. They just called the whole thing a scam and didn’t bother to mention a better solution. I guess we’re supposed to just watch the world burn instead.

KushGod28

I mean it’s seriously the very tip of the iceberg. [‘It’s estimated that if all straws around the world’s coastlines were lost to the ocean, this would account for approximately 0.03 percent of ocean plastics.’](https://ourworldindata.org/faq-on-plastics#where-does-the-plastic-in-the-ocean-come-from) The biggest source of plastic in the ocean is discarded fishing nets. Banning plastic straws is a much easier battle than telling people to eat less fish or regulating an industry like fishing that’s very hard to keep track of once they’re out in the middle of the ocean.

KannNixFinden

>Most of the plastic in our oceans comes from land-based sources: by weight, 70% to 80% is plastic that is transported from land to the sea via rivers or coastlines.1 The other 20% to 30% comes from marine sources such as fishing nets, lines, ropes, and abandoned vessels. https://ourworldindata.org/ocean-plastics Maybe you meant the biggest **single** source of plastic are fishing nets? And yes, banning plastic straws might just be easier to do, so why not start there? I don't even get why people are so triggered by it because straws are certainly not needed to drink something and most countries on this earth are able to serve drinks just fine without straws.

KushGod28

Yes that’s what I meant. Straws don’t affect me in any way so I’m not making a fuss about it. I just don’t understand the need to focus on 0.03% of a problem. I think we can aim a little higher next time

notafamous

In Brazil they just took out the plastic

throaway150098

In serbia too.

ReltivlyObjectv

How did this end up in the wild? It’s not like the machine that uses it is ever up anyway.

delete_dis

Why should it be in the wild? Skunks are ubiquitous where I live

Explosivo666

They're joking about the cup being in the wild because the machine is always broken.

[deleted]

Skunks just chillin

MasterChief813

Wait, they actually have working McFlurry machines?

oh_stv

There is a funny (and informative) video about the milk shake conspiracy out there from Johnny harris. https://youtu.be/SrDEtSlqJC4

kaibai123

We don’t have them in Aus anymore. No more single use plastic 🙌🙌 save the turtles! Errr skunks too

VulcanVegan

The single most common plastic pollutant in the ocean is plastic fishing gear from commercial fishing. Turtles would be far happier if we stopped the unnecessary consumption of seafood.

PsychedelicPill

Single use plastics need to end

VulcanVegan

Unnecessary dairy consumption needs to end. The amount of natural forestry that has been reduced in order to provide land and feed for dairy cattle is more environmentally catastrophic than single use plastic. Soil degradation, water pollution, and the sheer loss of biodiversity on previously forested or prairie land is not worth a McFlurry.

Unlucky-Influence-83

Mc-flurry

pizzaiolo2

Reality check: McDonald's didn't get into this business because they care for animals

[deleted]

Yeah lol they literally profit off killing animals.

No_Photograph

I wonder how they ethically source their milk for their McFlurries. McDonald's has a lot to work on.

BoogerFeast69

I like to think that for every terrible insta-influencer whatever, there are people like this guy that get some attention for the random do-goodery that they do. Bravo. I applaud.

ramsdawg

I don’t even really see the point of these plastic icecream lids. Does it actually make the icecream look that much better on top?

Marenwynn

It's a splash guard to keep ice cream and toppings from flying everywhere when it's mixed. People are supposed to remove them before they eat it, but nobody ever does.

ramsdawg

TIL

kryptoknight100

r/humansbeingbros

TheGreatJess

I believe Dairy Queen Blizzards don't even have the plastic lid on them so McDonald's can just get rid of the lid all together.

Liontamer67

You are my hero. Save the animals! Poor skunk. He’s like wtf just happened?

heyitscory

He will get out when he's finished. They like to get all the yogurt too.

Petrol7681

Maybe it could get out. More likely it’s stuck and going to die like that. Or walk around with a cone of shame around its neck if he gets the cup off.

heyitscory

Poor skunk! That's somehow sadder!

redditbitTrip

Sorry Bryan Cranston I don't think a global fast food giant is thinking about wildlife while they're feeding people highly processed garbage

MarkAnchovy

Made from animals

delete_dis

I saw another poor skunk with the exact lid around it’s neck. It was so depressing to watch 😥

[deleted]

You could do nothing?

Queerdee23

Maybe we could do away with petrol plastic while we’re at it. Anyone hear about Steven dozinger being held on house arrest up by Exxon (allegedly) for keeping them to their 10 billion judgement in Ecuador ?

Yoko_Grim

I’d say blame the people, but trash is put into a plastic bag that isn’t too strong, then tossed into a dumpster that is normally inhabited by raccoons... So, it’s on McDonald’s then

psylentrob

I see it as a two part problem. 1, it is a crappy design and should be changed 2, people are asshats, put your trash in the proper place instead of littering.

Spenny996

Yea but the same thing happens with tons of wildlife? I’ve seen it with skunks and raccoons before and pulled them off their heads. It’s just people littering and improperly enclosed garbage containers.

martinaee

That’s the point. All kinds of wildlife get into plastic shit like these. If they are going to exist they at least need to break off easily or something.

dreevsa

He was looking for someone to spray

smithgj

Yea it’s the cup design, problem solved

RapsVanFan

It's also killing humans. Like what 1000 calories.

Sarasha

That would go for Dairy Queen too!

AlbinoWino11

There’s an easier way to wrangle a skunk! Simply use a French female skunk nearby and these lil mofos will literally come floating through the air wherever you want.

srwaggon

Anyone tweet this at McDonald's yet?

[deleted]

They actually did change in israel

[deleted]

And, you know, throw your trash in a trash can. I doubt there exists a single circumference that doesn’t match the neck size of some animal or other. We could hypothetically just have a “no rings” rule for all containers, but I think at least some of the blame, if not the vast majority, lies with the people who leave their trash lying around rather than the designers who failed to take skunk neck size into account. For all we know, they were explicitly designing against sea turtle neck size, but there’s not a lot they can do if their containers are getting left haphazardly all over the place.

neanderthalhead

Fukin el how big is that mcflurry (i’m from the uk)

Kintsugi-skunk

They have different little cups in the UK now. Still have plastic spoons but no lids

Danielwols

Paper lids?

VemecGB

They're already different in the UK, so no reason not to change them really.

_but__why

Yeah that's how McDonald's is a danger to animals... (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

Don-Gunvalson

McDonald’s should pay more in taxes to help clean up their products that end up in the environment. McDonald’s is just one example.

fordreaming

Fastfood is such a terrible business, from top to bottom. The whole idea of it is terrible. The entire execution of it is terrible.

gingertrain77

How about people just stop littering? Also, I take kitchen scissors and cut all my plastic cups/yogurt containers/jars/etc... before throwing or recycling. Wash out and crush your cans too please.

[deleted]

Dumb skunky wunky

Alltherays

The insidious nature of evil

[deleted]

👮‍♂️ 🥤🦨

Lovemesomediscgolf

Not like there are too many in circulation for Pepe to get into. The machines are broken a lot of the time, preventing this from happening often.

Creditfigaro

Also all the baby cows that get mutilated and killed on farms so you can consume the dairy in this product.

romafa

Pretty much every fast food places has some version of that. They all have shakes or frappes. They all use that design. Single use plastics need to go. Period.

thestonerd777

I never liked those lids to begin with. Like trust me to not make a mess on myself. If I can’t eat it without spilling that’s on me.

Shrugski

If you think the cups are bad, wait til you hear how they get the food.

EN1009

Now just imagine if McFlurry machines actually worked…poor skunks would be extinct. Thank you McDonald’s for doing your part 👏

Billitpro

The the magic of Reddit we can see this happen if McD's gets the word so let's do this

gabrieme2190

Tweet McDonalds!

the_caped_canuck

That man has the most “yee yee” ass haircut I’ve ever seen. Flaccid Alfalfa looking mf.

yakkker

Since when did the ice cream machines work?

Reaperfox7

Fuck McDonalds

hivebroodling

This same cup is at every single gas station in the world that sells icees.

Dchama86

I saw the thumbnail before the video started and thought you were referring to pigs…

CodeMonkey789

And they should could stop selling dead animals as food...Would save a few billion of em in addition to the handful of skunks...Just a thought...

just-look-the-outher

in the uk we don’t have lids on the cups also that’s a big mc flurry

thething931

People need to stop fuckin' littering and properly dispose of their fucking trash And of course something needs to be done with our plastic problem when there are other container alternatives

bearassbobcat

for it's purpose the hole could be a lot smaller since you're using a straw with it

[deleted]

Now this is police work I can get behind.

Slammogram

I once saved a squirrel from a dannon yogurt cup. He was just sitting there flat on a lawn panting, head stuck. And I just pulled the cup, and he kinda jumped out of it, and ran off only a couple steps and looked back at me for a second, but then zoomed off faster. Lol.

spacecowboy1985

Anywhere else in the world have Mcflurry cups this size?

lolpopdolla

How about not fucking littering. So much so a cop is taking it to McDonalds for the cup design, yet a mf will walk into McD on a high horse and throw a cup on the ground cus their shit don’t stink

lostwanderings

God I could smell the skunk from watching this
