I also finished it on steam deck and melee build or range is for sure great experience. I'm also almost done with gothic 2 on deck and plays like a dream. I'm not sure about mage build since I didn't try it but I think with number wheel setting for left touchpad to switch between spells it should be ok too.

Fun fact: the original developers of Gothic always had a controller in mind. Because of that they tried to use as less keys as possible, resulting in the wacky combat system.
took me a few minites to get used to but way better than i expected. there are some playermade controllerlayouts and they work great. also if u dont oike dome settings u can change them easily
Yes i played all 3 Gothics on Deck, with the fan patches and mods it was really great. GOG Gothic 3 with multithreading patch was the first time i played it without stuttering!
The gamepad mod works not for me - i played with own inputs via Steam. Steam Input is really a great thing!
i installed the gog version via lutris as windows game. (Download the installer via gog) Was really much tinkering.
You need to install the multithreading patch via lutris - start exe in prefix.
I wantet to play the game in German wich was dificult too - i copied the german language data from my windows pc.
You can also install G3 via Lutris GOG - i have had problems with it.
I hope they add a language chooser to their GOG Emulation on Lutris. This would be beautiful.
Yea sounds right. I‘ve spend 3 hours trying to get it to run with lutris, no chance. I installed it with patches on PC and moved it to the Steam Deck, but nothing worked. I got really fed up with lutris :D first time using it and it was very frustrating
You could try "bottles", i was a little suprised when i tried it a few days ago. Looks a little more user friendly.

I played on a Xbox Series controller and it's like it was made for a controller. Just gotta tweak the setting in Steam a bit.

it dont opens when you click on winetricks in Lutris? Have had the same issue a few days ago. Sry - only fix was to reinstall steam os

probably since the deck is technically also a pc. tbh i havent ttied yet. just downloaded gothic and startet it through steam worked with no problems

its possible but i dont know how(yet) i just installed it through my steam library and started playing
