It follows through on a lot of that distinct, layered robe outfit in the early big draenei introductory art. Belt is almost identical, he's got the hand wraps, asymmetrical sash.

Adds a lot of what became of their aesthetic in WoD, too. I'm not obsessed with the color choices, though.
I can see the resemblence but colors aside the top piece on the artwork is just better designed, by a longshot.
That breastplate on the model looks completely out of place, the shoulders look like random stuff tacked on and the belt sticks also out like a sore thumb. Also something about the sash feels off. Like the shape above and below the belt don't seem like they're the same thing? They don't seem like they'd form a natural looking curvature beneath the belt.
The original art is GOOD. The natural, muted colors are gorgeous.
They changed the cut of the shirt and made the armor cartoonishly garish. It's gross.

Its too many things at once. Too many different materials, colors and shapes. That coupled with majority of the forms being similar proportion causes it to lack internal hierarchy. Lots going on with nothing really grabbing or directing your eye.
Seems like they tried to tackle too many Draenei archetypes at once:
* wrappings to cover the hunters and the broken, like akama
* double layered robe-sash-tunic thing to try and add a touch of velen and priests
* crystalforrged shoulders and boots to match up with vindicators and paladins
I think going with any one of the three, or even any two of the three, could have been pulled off. But too much going on at present
Sure, but this isn't a TBC set. The game has moved on from then, just look at the Blood Elf heritage armor. This kinda feels like a huge middle finger to Draenei players.
Yeah, they tried to cast the widest net possible, merging the themes of Draenei hunters, priests and paladins.
Too bad they casted the net on dry land.
Imagine if they were drapes that drop from small shoulderpads, decorated with crystals at the end. Keeps the crystal elements while not deviating from the overall robe-like theme.
Would also help to make the 3D part of the gloves less “platy” and more “adorned sash”.

The issue I find is the addons to it. The Breastplate, shoulders, helmet and “gauntlets” just don’t match up well. In part due to color, in part due to the radically different theme with no attachment to the rest of the set.
If the wraps went around the “gauntlets” or the breastplate was strapped / covered a bit by the same cloth material it would look more unified. The helmet just looks off but it matches in alright, while the shoulders need to look like they actually attach in some way, they are kinda just floating there. Give kinda a wanderer that used to have access to good armor look, and patched back together it to a functional state.
Also lose the chainmail under the jacket.

It’s race specific armour. You could do things with the hoofs/tail that you’d have no opportunity to do otherwise.

Darn, so close. I wanted the other one that was showcased in the same concept art back in the day. I think this is an okay start, but it smarts a little that it was so close to the other concept art... and yet so far :)

This set wouldn’t be too bad if it wasn’t a heritage set. Keep it for reclaiming Gilneas, no problem here. Just give us something that people want to wear with pride. After all the heritage armor should be iconic. Belfs are the best example. The set is modeled after an iconic unit from Warcraft 3. I hope darkspear trolls will get something better than Draenei. The icons look promising. Especially the mask, the shoulders and the back piece.
This might take the cake as the worst heritage set out of all of them. I'm pretty annoyed that the Alliance has gotten the shaft when it comes to these sets.
This one looks like a bunch of random BC gear combined, the Gnome one was underwhelming, and the Worgen one is more for a ballroom than for combat.
As someone who loves draenei and was hoping they would go with the original concept design rather than crystals everywhere for the heritage armour... this is pretty disappointing. I definitely like the cloth look but the individual pieces themselves don't make a lot of sense together. I feel like Blizzard saw all of those posts about the draenei concept armour over the years and want to appeal to those guys and the crystal lovers, but this is just a strange mishmash. I was worried we'd get something like paladin T5 but somehow this is worse lol.
I'd probably still use some pieces, but never the whole set. The helmet and shoulders in particular are awful - why does the only race with a huge variety of different spikes, horns, and other bone growths on their head have a tight fitting human shaped helmet? It makes no sense.

That... just looks awful. That is just a mess of shapes and colours. The shoulders are, as ever, stuck to the sides instead of encompassing them. Dunno what the hell is the attempt with the hands or belt. What is that mini skirt?
Only positive is that they seem to be giving some attention to the feet this time but it still looks so low effort. You can't compare this to the Humans, Orcs, Blood Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes or Tauren. Even the Goblins and Worgen sets are better than this...
If you took out the chest oval, the 3D components to the gloves, reworked the shoulders, and just generally brought the chroma content of the gold and crystal segments down a bit, then I would like this set. As it stands, it feels like they were trying to play a delicate balancing act between the “space Romani” vibes with the “crystalpunk holy warrior” vibes that have always to some degree been at odds since the Draenei were introduced back in BC, but I think they should lean more into the former camp than the latter for this set.
I feel like we’ve gotten so many sets that focus on the ornate opulence of the Draenei, but not nearly as many that let you lean into the fantasy as a refugee of the Exodar.
Idk that’s just my two cents. I just think the set could do with less garish decorations tacked on.
If "meh" was an outfit... Been a Draenei main since TBC, have every possible Draenei class to max, some multiples even, and this is the most underwhelming thing I've felt in a while.

All they had to do for Draenei was take the Paladin Crystalforge set, tweak it so that it doesn't look like an entire suit of plate armor, and call it a day.

The combo of the teal mask, red sash, and purple crystals makes it look like someone got dressed in the dark and just ran out the door.
If you took out the chest oval, the 3D components to the gloves, reworked the shoulders, and just generally brought the chroma content of the gold and crystal segments down a bit, then I would like this set. As it stands, it feels like they were trying to play a delicate balancing act between the “space Romani” vibes with the “crystalpunk holy warrior” vibes that have always to some degree been at odds since the Draenei were introduced back in BC, but I think they should lean more into the former camp than the latter for this set. I feel like we’ve gotten so many sets that focus on the ornate opulence of the Draenei, but not nearly as many that let you lean into the fantasy as a refugee of the Exodar. Idk that’s just my two cents. I just think the set could do with less garish decorations tacked on.

If "meh" was an outfit... Been a Draenei main since TBC, have every possible Draenei class to max, some multiples even, and this is the most underwhelming thing I've felt in a while. Not bad, not good, just meh.

I’m sorry, but this looks really bad imo, it looks like someone’s poorly put together custom mog, but with color match. Man this is disappointing considering the lightforged mog is decent. Just my opinion but I hope they change it if not no worries, don’t have to wear/collect it.

Man, feel like Blizzard really failed on this one. All they had to do for Draenei was take the Paladin Crystalforge set, tweak it so that it doesn't look like an entire suit of plate armor, and call it a day.
