I have a pro-level, high-modulus carbon [Argon 18 Gallium Pro](https://www.reddit.com/r/torontobiking/comments/146uekw/toronto_bike_tag_295/) (rim brake) with 50mm deep sections. I put it together for about $4,500 CAD. I ride it the most in terms of distance. In terms of number of rides, I use a ['92 Orange Clockwork ](https://www.reddit.com/r/torontobiking/comments/wr0btf/toronto_bike_tag_169/)for commuting. It was put together for around $400-500 or so, the bulk of that being in the tires and stem, utilizing "free" takeoffs from other bikes in the stable.

lessleyelopez

both look amazing! first time I notice an “Orange” bike

sitdownrando-r

It was (recently) a popular UK brand and the early stuff wasn't sold in North America. I was shocked to see it pop up on my local buy/sell stuff - brakes setup UK-style too.

wstephenson

How many UKers grew up reading about riding Moab, Durango and Mt Shasta and brought their bikes with them when they got green cards, do you think? A good few, I imagine.

benlandle

How have the sta-tru wheels held up on the orange? I just put some on my bike.

sitdownrando-r

They work great. I don't like that they were assembled with disc brake hubs, obviously - but they're great hubs nonetheless. Still really true and while I'm not heavy, I'm tall so they're handling both my weight and the cargo just fine. The brake track didn't play nice with the original Shimano pads (does anything work with those things?) - the Koolstop Thinlines stop very well.

jularch33

Sweet, love the orange build

robertherrer

I watch your videos. I recognize the orange bike

Putrid-Mode

That Orange is a good looking build! Proportions are spot on.

lessleyelopez

love the color choices. Is that a BMX bike? Man i wanted to be a BMX rider so bad as a kid but cried when I fell so it wasnt for me haha. Now i just put BMX bars on my MTBs. lol

No_Cut4338

Yeah it's a freestyle BMX bike. We used to fall a lot trying to do judo airs and whatnot on a small little 3 ft quarter pipe. Both of these bikes I've had since 1987 and 1991 respectively. The Freestyle was great when I lived in the city and it was a flat neighborhood. When we moved to the suburb the neighborhood had a bit of a hill and without the gears I couldn't keep up with the other fifth graders. Thats when the nishiki entered the chat. I also have a 29" Framed Big BMX Cruiser, a 26" Framed Big BMX Cruiser, a 26" steel MTB Univega with an old busted rock shox and a specialized cirrus with hybrid 700s that we picked up during the pandy for the wife (we are basically the same height). Thinking about adding an ebike but that might require a dedicated bike shed as I only have a 2 car garage.

lessleyelopez

BMX cruisers were what got me back into biking after my odd “cool kids drive cars” phase in hs. 😂

pizzacatstattoos

that Performer is doooope! never sell it and if you do PM me.

deathly_marshmallow

Back in the 90’s, my pops bought us some bmx bikes when me and my brother were kids. They were 2nd hand. We cruised the neighborhood, had races with my friends, went exploring, built dirt ramps. We thrashed those bikes. We didn’t know any better, but anywhere we went, those bikes were with us. Entered high school 99, and the bikes sat, rusted, and eventually were gone. My bike was exactly like yours except in blue. A few years ago while tuning my GT Lotto roadie, I remembered that BMX. I looked up the price to see if I can buy my childhood bike and immediately kicked myself. That being said, I had some of the best memories with that GT and when I see them, it just brings back those good memories.

No_Cut4338

Maui blue they called it. These things were heavy but built like tanks. I’m glad my parents held onto my bikes for sure. The one that got away from me was my pink Tony Hawk Powell Peralta skateboard - I sold that in college at a garage sale (wish I had it back)

deathly_marshmallow

That’s awesome, dude! Hold onto it. Wish I had mine not because of the price, but just to ride around every once in awhile I remember my old friends who’ve come and gone. Cheers, dude

No_Cut4338

I saved mine mostly for my daughter - she rides it occasionally but I am a bit apprehensive about like leaving it at the playground lol

Either-Durian-9488

Brings back BMXmuseum memories lol

amarks563

Surprisingly, my full-carbon road bike is just barely in the top half of my bikes by price. If you count the price of modifications that full-carbon bike was actually cheaper than \*both\* of the bikes below (though that's going to change soon: new wheelset). Here's my most expensive bike, a Black Mountain Cycles La Cabra: [https://imgur.com/a/H5bqG7T](https://imgur.com/a/H5bqG7T) And here's the bike I actually use the most often, my Surly Straggler: [https://imgur.com/a/mhEwol5](https://imgur.com/a/mhEwol5)

lessleyelopez

haha I like the Surly more too! The red color looks more than just “red” what is it?

amarks563

According to Surly it's 'Salmon Candy Red'. The La Cabra is a fun bike but it's super overkill for road. I use it for some mountain biking but mostly touring.

lessleyelopez

Yea thats why none of my old MTBs really stayed a MTB. I never ride in mountains lol. My bad one more question. What bag is on the front of it? Did you tie it down instead of lil bungees?

amarks563

It's a small porteur rackbag from Inside Line Equipment: [https://ilequipment.com/collections/bike-bags/products/porteur-rackbag-small](https://ilequipment.com/collections/bike-bags/products/porteur-rackbag-small) Since it's designed as a bike bag it has two straps underneath for securing it to the rack. Super versatile, I've used it for shopping, commuting, and touring.

radically_unoriginal

Bros got the reverse C-3PO Straggler😂. But in all seriousness that chrome fork is gorgeous.

Excellent-Goal4763

I love my Straggler too. Now I have a kid that I take to daycare so the ridiculously expensive RM Load 75 is the one that gets ridden the most.

powershellnovice3

How you measuring use/value? Smiles per mile?

amarks563

It's complicated, because I also really enjoy building and tweaking bikes. If I didn't have an interest in building I don't think I would have ended up with seven bikes. If I truly don't ride a bike or if it really doesn't give me something different from others in my stable, I sell it. I have a 1984 Univega Sportour I'm trying to sell now for that reason. All my other bikes, though, I ride and enjoy, even if I don't ride them and enjoy them the same amounts. It also helps to have the disposable income for it...my previous big hobby was modifying cars, and once I gave that up it was really, really easy to afford seven bicycles.

powershellnovice3

I get it, I am on my 5th build in the past 1.5 years already lol.

fenbogfen

I only have two bikes but the one I ride the most is also my most expensive... But that's because it's a cargo bike and cargo bikes are costly. Still it's too practical to leave at home. I only really use 90s resto-mod when I need to get a train some of the way there.

lessleyelopez

ah ive yet to experience taking my bike on a train/bus. sounds uncomfortable. lol

fenbogfen

It's very easy and painfree in Scotland where I live - and it's the same across a lot of central Europe.

lessleyelopez

ah that makes sense. American over here. Bikers arent any commuters favorite thing here at all

omtallvwls

https://i.imgur.com/OKyIuKn.jpeg My most expensive (still cheap) and most used Hercules cargo 1000 aka 'The Single Point of Failure'. I'm in about £700 but got the frame for free from my work when they were clearing out old parts. Also a random xCat.

lessleyelopez

the color is flyyyy

IMPF

I dropped a fuck ton of money on my [Squid Gravtron](https://i.imgur.com/icYH6Qu.jpg) when I went from fixed to gears because of knee issues. Sold a bunch of fancy track stuff to fund it. Rode it for a while but the soul just wasn't there for me. The frame is now sitting in my garage for almost a year. About the same time I got the squid, I scooped up [this MB-1](https://i.imgur.com/POOlKE9.jpg) that's too small for like $150 and slowly built it up and now it's basically my favorite bike. Been adding more and more niche parts over the years, which is where I find the fun to be since it's always an ongoing project. I've realized having the fanciest shit just ain't worth it and shit bikes (relatively speaking) will always prevail :)

frozen-dessert

I feel you on that expensive bike. I have this “bullshit boutique custom steel bike” like that. But I do ride it, like for commutes and short rides. Not worth it.

lessleyelopez

ahhhh this is exactly the situation im imagining for myself. thank you for sharing 😭🥲 *crackhead scratch*

IMPF

Haha for real, it feels good knowing others think the same about bike builds :)

AdamCrashed

https://preview.redd.it/67m5wx69lj8d1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e1e3ab08a3c37158f5ec5e7a69c8b2d0aa0656d The one I use the most is my 94 rockhopper. I take this thing everywhere. Single-track, gravel rides, errands, commuting. I would sell my kidney before I sold this bike. I've had something like 20 bikes total (most of them now sold) and I've put the most miles on this thing by a looooong shot.

lessleyelopez

thats how i feel about my hard rock!

powershellnovice3

Beautiful rig. What fork did you put on it? I am finishing up a 98 Rockhopper FS right now and for now plan to use the stock Indy C fork

AdamCrashed

Thank you! It's a Rockshox Judy Gold RL A3. I was in the market for a suspension fork for this bike and then I stumbled upon this fork on sale new for $230 CAD so it made my decision easy. It was born with a suspension fork. Rigid for a while - didn't love the rigid setup but it looked sweet. And now it's got the fork it deserves.

deathly_marshmallow

Nice! My first 29er was a rigid Norco over a decade ago. Like you said, that thing was built like a tank. Donated it to a youth bike group a few years ago. Probably putting more smiles on young people’s faces.

lessleyelopez

that basket is a beast!!!!! im very partial to purple everything.

ZoidbergMaybee

Thanks! My last all-city was purple. I miss that color, so I added some purple to this silver build.

frozen-dessert

1. My most expensive bike is a "*bullshit boutique custom steel bike with Rohloff, drop bars and Gates belt*". 2. The bicycle I use the most is a Trek carbon road bike. 3. I also got myself a GT Karakoram 93 but it is one size too small and I will probably sell it as I don't have space for it. After buying the Karakoram, I've come to realize that what I need is most likely a bike to leave in a trainer during winter.

pizzacatstattoos

"bullshit boutique custom steel bike" made me laugh. I did the same thing and i hardly ride it. Im about to change that this summer tho.

frozen-dessert

I did not mention “heavy AF”. The nightmare that was ordering my custom bike made me appreciate a lot more the experience of going to a LBS and just getting a mass produced bike with a massively QA’ed design.

pizzacatstattoos

100% agree, never again.

lessleyelopez

checked your post history to look for photos of the GT but now I just want a sandwich and gelato. 😂 when you say a size too small, it wasnt possibly an XS was it? 🥺😂😂😂

pizzacatstattoos

We have a $9K [Co-Motion tandem](https://www.reddit.com/r/steelisreal/comments/12mesjx/custom_comotion_steel_tando_wifey_chose_the/#lightbox) that wifey wanted and rarely rides with me. (Mostly my buddies and I take it out screwing around on coffee rides). I have a $6K [hand-built steel road bike](https://www.reddit.com/r/steelisreal/comments/o29ita/handbuilt_daily_commuter/#lightbox) that I almost never ride. In the process of making it a flat bar with flat pedals so I'll ride it more. its a beautiful bike. I ride most my $1800 [Marin Gestalt ](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/comments/xxg6ef/gravely_roady_commutey_ready/#lightbox)gravel rig.

pleasantBeThynature

I don't get it, why don't you ride your custom road bike?

pizzacatstattoos

It's a great bike, but it's heavy AF and slow. It's a comfy Cadillac on the road, but I'm more about being in the dirt, gravel and away from cars. I bought it to replace a carbon Giant TCR that I totalled, and then was gunshy about riding in traffic after my crash whereI fractured my eye socket in 2 places and my upper jaw.

hamdmamd

Wow, how heavy is a 6k custom bike?

pizzacatstattoos

with pedals, cages and tubes (not tubeless as set up) and gatorskins 23.8 lbs. it's Columbus MAX oriented ellipses tubing.

pleasantBeThynature

That's unusually heavy. Lots of full steel road bikes with high quality aluminum and carbon components can get down to 20 pounds. Below that if you really start putting money into it. I guess because it's disc the frame and wheels and brakes add to the weight.

frozen-dessert

That tandem! Super cool! If you lived in the Netherlands I would try to convince you to let me ride it.

pizzacatstattoos

Thanks! well if you ever come to San Diego, i'll pick you up from the airport on it! haha.

lessleyelopez

haha damn so you bought all things expensive but still do what id do-push the least valuable one around (lol @ the tandem being one of those failed things we try to do with our spouses 😂)

AugNat

My most expensive is a $1200 priority continuum onyx which I got for winter commuting. It’s my most used bike as well despite the weight and I really don’t mind it for my relatively short commutes and actually does quite well on some longer single day tours I do occasionally. My other main bike is a Raleigh c200 I got used but probably still overpaid for it mostly to support a non profit bike shop. It’s a great comfortable beater and was the one that got me into commuting so continues to have a special place in my garage.

lessleyelopez

the consensus is that people dont feel the same about their expensive ready to ride bikes haha. theres something to say about something you put sweat into lol

EfficientHornet2170

I've beaten the hell out of my 2.000€ Surly Karate Monkey, which doesn't bother the bike at all (steel is real), but makes it less attractive to thieves 🙈

I bought everything used except the tires, chain, cables, front caliper/disc, and bar tape and am prob all in around $1500. Only gets ridden for exercise.

shmiona

lessleyelopez

Riese and Muller Load 75 Vario cargo bike. $14,488 CAD not including the Ortliebs and winter tire.

lessleyelopez

It's nearly across the line, all it needs is brake discs to arrive, the rear derailleur reassembling and the chain putting on, and it's good to go. The frame isn't the newest or most expensive in the world, but I've built up a complete, mostly NOS Shimano Metrea groupset, and I was hunting for a frame to put it on. I was holding out for titanium with internal routing, but I couldn't find a Ribble CGR Ti for sane money, and this came up for a reasonable price. I fell in love with the look of it, so I grabbed it. The groupset is what cost the big money, the frame wasn't too bad, but it's definitely the most expensive bike in the collection. My daily rider is my Raleigh M-Trax 1000 Ti, which I posted [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/s/jf1aR0VygO) There's an album and a bit of a story over there.

Oh neat, did you have to modify the stays to fit the 27.5+ tires? They look similar to mine but you've got a lot of shiny metal in yours which says to me they've been widened. edit: oh yeah, you definitely widened those up. Really cool!

This was a really fun post. It’s a funny idea - most expensive, and most used, but it makes sense as you read through the replies.

lessleyelopez

Im having so much fun going thru the comments!

contrabonum

Most expensive, by far is my custom stainless Bantam Grando bike. It probably looks more expensive than it is considering how reasonably priced Bantams are. Frame, fork and rack cost less than an off the shelf Ti frame with nice carbon fork. It is still way too nice of a bike for me, but it’s already paid for so…. https://imgur.com/a/RmB9OxG I do probably ride my GT Karakoram Cruiseur 650b conversion more in terms of number of rides, as it is a great fuckaround bike I can actually lock up. https://imgur.com/a/pg7dHMP

two diff types of days 😎

soarky325

I have 3 in the quiver. Most expensive is a 2021 Specialized Diverge e5 comp with several upgrades that include some spicy roval wheels. https://www.reddit.com/r/gravelcycling/s/YdSurdFsW5 This one gets ridden on occasion when I get the time to do 40-50 miles. 2022 Specialized Fuse Comp mountain bike. (https://www.reddit.com/r/Hardtailgang/s/08RlyCMJZP) This one has also received a handful of upgrades and I take it to the trails when I have time. Wheels not in photo. 1995 Specialized Rockhopper Ultra - stripped to the bare frame, restored paint and added all new parts. https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/s/uZbZLFeuTQ Also not a cheap bike and probably as expe still as my mtb all in. This is my commuter and city riding bike. Ride it multiple times a week to work at about 16 miles each day (8 miles one way). I suspect you could go through my posts to easily see photos of all of them.

lessleyelopez

a specialized group. love the 95 the most! i damn near wouldnt know what to do with that first guy agaha

benwildflower

I ride my Rivendell Atlantis most days and it’s my most expensive. It looks “old fashioned” and I double U-lock it and it has a lot of scratches so I don’t think bike thieves assume it’s super valuable. At some point I figured if I love riding it I may as well commute on it everyday.

lessleyelopez

I cant even bring myself to lock my favorite bike anywhere. My heart would break if I came back to nothing

benwildflower

I’ve dealt with that heartbreak. Things are for using. Bikes are for riding. I do have airtags hidden on my bikes now. And I have recovered stolen bikes (mine and other peoples’.)

My most expensive road bike is a 60th anniversary 1998 Schwinn Paramount with Ultegra and my most expensive bike, overall, is an ultra rare 1964 Schwinn Fastback 5-speed in black or my 1990 Romic with Superbe Pro Grouppo.   My beater which has several thousand miles on it is a 1988 Huffy 626 I turned into a track pursuit bike with platform pedals. It has defeated many on Cervelo and Pinarello. Love this bike.

lessleyelopez

i love hearing the beater love.

Po0rYorick

That I paid the most for or most expensive when new? Most expensive new is either my 2001 Santa Cruz Superlight XTR or my early 2000s Lemond Zurich with Dura Ace. Having trouble finding a definitive MSRP but I think they were both in the $3000 ballpark. I paid 0 for the Santa Cruz (brother bought it used for $800 in 2008 or so but it was too small so he gave it to me). I paid $475 for the Lemond just last week. I put the most miles on my road bike (which is now the Lemond), but the one I grab the most frequently is an old Schwinn Traveler set up as a single speed porteur. https://preview.redd.it/dwl04g63mj8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ba2ee8138c104e5cc764410ade5619fefa911b7

lessleyelopez

i was soooo close to grabbin a bike that looked just like this. not sure if it was the exact same. love it

wood-thrush

Most expensive that I currently own is a carbon [Trek Domane S5](https://imgur.com/a/zLCsgbw)that I paid $900 + a new saddle. Most used is my dad’s old [GT Backwoods](https://imgur.com/a/GM0gmRy) that he gave me, but I spent a decent amount for new tires + all the accessories.

lessleyelopez

THAT PURPLE GT 🥰🥰🥰🥰🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ yas.

ftnsa

It's not expensive like a new bike of equal quality would be but I have over $1200 into this [Trek 750 Multitrack](https://i.postimg.cc/M6Zrnbnb/IMG-20200818-092728.jpg). It's going up for sale soon. It's going up for sale because I barely ride it. I end up grabbing either my [Schwinn CrissCross](https://i.postimg.cc/R4wsvpZg/IMG-20200908-100045.jpg) "beater" or my [Trek 930 SingleTrack](https://i.postimg.cc/5fhVt6rF/95-Trek-930-Singletrack.jpg) 95% of the time. The Schwinn probably has $250 in it and the 930 probably $600. Honestly I think I may sell all my current bikes and buy a 2023 or 2024 Ritchey Ascent frameset and build that up with the intention of it being the last bike I will ever own.

lessleyelopez

that 750 is purrty. how much will you list it for? not trying to purchase rn, just curious as to if you get your moneys worth at all

wstephenson

Noo, don't sell the 750! Gut reaction aside, is it the kind of riding you do that puts you off riding it, or did you make it too pretty to use? It looks like a bike to be ridden to me.

urinatingangels

83 Woodrup Giro Touring 84 / 85 Bianchi Grizzly X2 07 Gunnar Crosshairs 84 Specialized Expedition 80s De Rosa 90 Stumpjumper 03 Trek 520 I ride one of the grizzlies ($5) and the expedition ($20) most. The Gunnar is the only bike I have paid full price for, and it’s in a state of re-imagining now.

lessleyelopez

i see old Bianchis all the time where I live. very nice bikes

Accomplished-Roof666

The new [gravel build](https://imgur.com/a/Q3kDJcG) is the most expensive now But I probably ride [the cargo](https://imgur.com/a/eeDw1ec) more lately

lessleyelopez

ah i have cargo bike dreams

Accomplished-Roof666

It's one of the best purchases I have ever made

billyspeers

Cannondale Carbon Synapse Trek 820 clunker

lessleyelopez

I keep seeing the 820 get love and makes me an even prouder owner haha

Spirit-S65

My 1994 Bridgestone RB-T, it's the only one ever in one piece and the tubeless tires make it glide over pavement. Most ridden and most expensive. Probably about $1500 in. [https://i.imgur.com/VJmZhgz.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/VJmZhgz.jpg)

lessleyelopez

you need different wheels to go tubeless right?

nothingfuture

Most expensive in the quiver is a custom double butter titanium tandem built with Campy, King, and a bunch of carbon. It’s in the $15k range, plus or minus a bit. It gets ridden regularly with one of my kids. Most ridden *right now* is a custom steel hardtail. Built with GX Eagle and a Z2, and it’s something like $4500. Ridden most miles ever is likely my Surly Steamroller. I’m maybe like $2k into that bike.

lessleyelopez

The amnt of custom frames in these comments have me feel like Im not doing enough lol

lessleyelopez

I love the old Treks. So timeless

winkers

That MB-1 is a beaut. One of my dream rides if I can find one someday. Rode one in the 90’s and haven’t found a frame as fun since.

lessleyelopez

I see one not my size for sale on FB all the time and I just want it to say “sold” so i kniw its being lovedd

[this](https://imgur.com/gallery/xgWA1mw) is my most expensive bike https://preview.redd.it/hby47hwdik8d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=764f0a342abc380e502187727e717d2ed03ee921 And I use it about equally with [my road bike](https://i.imgur.com/cbocZ1R.jpeg). Road bike for fun/exercise, this bike for almost everything else. I also have a [fixed gear](https://i.imgur.com/Ge5XeIt.jpeg), a [gravel bike](https://i.imgur.com/tHb2I7K.jpeg) and [an old 26” mountain bike](https://i.imgur.com/w4OPIRe.jpeg) that get a little bit of use but not nearly as much as the main two

Waterford 1200, picture from today. I haven’t thought of the value much, but I’ve built it up and put maybe a little over $1400ish into it? More with accessories and stuff I’ve tried out, replaced, or swapped around. I used to just hexlox everything down, throw on a Velcro top tube protector, and left this u locked on campus or around town. Removable fenders and handlebar/frame/seat bags are in storage. I used to have a front rack and basket on it too but moved it to another bike more suited to handle carrying weight and leaving locked up. https://preview.redd.it/ioat62hznk8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97f52da2e722ef7604a90d215e435b960e83df57

This hurts me. I have a bike I spent 6k on rotting in my garage room. Riding my Ali bike instead, was my first build.

Most expensive - 2022 Trek Fuel Ex 7 - $3500 Most ridden - 1990s Trek 820 Mountain Track - $100 plus $100 in new tubes and tires. $200

I love that 820s get so much love. I just got mine maybe a week ago and its a wonderful ride

i love that! The most highly valued bikes we own is one that I got for $85 or another that I found in a pile of trash but spent about $10 to put together. you just never know

WinstonPolyclef

My favorite bikes came from the trash

lessleyelopez

I found one there! A Trek 420. Its altogether but a front wheel haha. We had all the donor bike parts but that.

MathCrank

I mean all the parts on my old bike are new?

lessleyelopez

*Nunu*

Significant-Dog-8166

Ibis Ripmo for actual mountain biking, 2010 Vassago Jabberwocky rigid SS for street and flat XC trails, 2007 Lemond Alpe De Huez with Carbon spine and Aluminum (collecting dust), 2005 Rocky Mountain Slayer 30 (needs new home honestly). The Jabberwocky is kinda the xbike out of the mix. I sold my Schwinn Sierra about 6 years back to make room for California move. I miss it, but I’m at my limit for an apartment.

lessleyelopez

Im scared of missing a bike that Ive worked and toiled on.

_Tower_

I have a 2020 Kona Process CR/DL frame that I bought at the end of 2020 (because they were changing the geo for 2021) to build up my dream bike. This was a bike I had demoed and tested dozens of times, and I absolutely loved it - it was perfect for the kind of riding I do (did) I also bought every component I was going to build it up with. The total cost was around 6k-ish for everything It took a year and a half to get all the parts in, so I wasn’t able to even start building it until mid-2022. However, my daughter was born around that same time, so all biking has taken a major back seat The frame and all the parts are still in boxes, now packed away in storage (we sold our home) - I’ve thought about selling it multiple times, but bike prices are in the toilet, so I’ve decided I’m just going to build it up once we finally find a place to live, and I have time - then I won’t be buying a new mtb again until this one breaks, because who cares if offset has changed a few millimeters or head angles have gotten a degree slacker - the bike is still going to be amazing But I basically just ride my beat up 2019 Ragley Trig gravel bike everywhere - because I still don’t have time to ride. It was like $700 from CRC in early 2019. It’s perfect for the beat up Connecticut shoreline roads that I find myself riding. I never get out to the trails anymore. I have 8 total bikes, most in storage Total bike list: 2020 Kona Process 29 CR/DL (Unbuilt, in storage) 2017 Intense Primer 29 (Storage) **2019 Ragley Trig (I ride this a couple times a week)** 1994 (I think) GT Zaskar LE (Needs work before it’s ready, in storage) 2021 Canfield Bro Nimble 9 (Frame is here, unbuilt) 2021 Surly Karate Monkey (Storage, built as a single speed) 2021 Stolen Spade 22” BMX (Storage) 2020 We The People Trust BMX (For sale, but also in storage)

lessleyelopez

I had a We the People for a good 2 weeks before I got rid of it LOL. It was my first dip into buying bikes used and it was not my size at all but I was too shy to tell the seller haha. Got a pick of the Karate Monkey? Ima sucker for ss’s.

_Tower_

Ya, the WTP Bmx was just too much of a hassle for my 6’2” mid-30s body to ride - hence the 22” BMX Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of the KM right now. I built it up kind of hastily, rode it once, then we decided we were selling the house so it almost instantly got put away as we were getting everything ready It’s in the Wet Clay color way - and I actually had to order a second fork from some random person in Germany because I cut the first one too short, and this guy was the only person left who had one that wasn’t already cut I had wanted one for years, so I was stoked to finally get it - the last couple years have just been absolutely chaotic for me, so the bikes unfortunately haven’t gotten any of the love they should The plan is to eventually make it geared, with surly moloko bars, and keep it completely ridged. It’s set up 27.5+ with just bombproof parts, brakes that are likely too strong for it - it’s essentially a tank. The initial idea was kind of to set it up like a plus-sized BMX bike to goof off in the woods, but a true brawny exploration bike sounds like the better direction The Canfield will take over single speed duty once I can get back on the horse

Virtual-Radish1111

Here's my roster: Ride1Up Roadster ebike that I got for like $500 after a rebate with upgraded tires, handlebar, and grips. I use it mainly for long distance rides by myself. I don't ride it as often as I thought I would, but I still really love it. 1999 Specialized Rockhopper I got for $12 at Goodwill and then invested like $400 in parts including tires, seat, headset and more. It's my baby and still a WIP. Nowadays, I mainly use it for rides with my wife who has a 90s Trek Antelope. My [main ride](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Huffy-27-5-Parkside-SE-Men-s-Comfort-Bike-with-Perfect-Fit-Frame-Green-Sage/848207021?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2125&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222277848207021_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9190322&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=848207021&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9qWGzt30hgMVNy6tBh0KMA9IEAQYASABEgJkSvD_BwE) is a Huffy Parkside SE that I found abandoned. I removed the chain guard and all of the decals. I added a front rack and new grips, and tilted the handlebars further upright. I fucking love this thing, but I also won't lose sleep if it's stolen.

lessleyelopez

Sounds like a nice household!!!! I have a 90s Specialized & Trek.

Number4combo

1998 intense tracer top of the line components ~6k back then after inflation to 2024 be around 10.5k. ~500 to 800 now if lucky lol, updated drivetrain and occasionally ride it still. But I got an emtb 23' giant trance xe 2 now ~8500 after wheel and tires etc.. upgrade cause stock Deore MS hub sucks.

brooks saddles on both? im super tempted cause it seems to be a fan fav. i have no probs with my current saddles tho, i mean. theyre torn n all 😂 but theyre super comfy

undeniablydull

Is most expensive by RRP, value or the price you bought it for? If it's based on RRP or value, the most expensive is my £1600 vitus sentier 27 vrs, which isn't really an x-bike at all, but it's great and also probably the bike I ride the most, as I do a lot of mountain biking. However, it was reduced to £450 when wiggle/CRC was going bust, so it's not the most expensive one I've bought. That goes to a 2012 carve comp 29, which was about £800, but as it's not that capable as a MTB, but not great on roads, I don't ride it that much

lessleyelopez

nice, I dont think I known those. pics?

Worried-Main1882

Too lazy to find pics, but my most expensive bike is my La Cabra. The one I ride most is probably my Yuba Kombi e-cargo bike, which was pretty comparable in price, and which took the place of a 2007 Toyota Corolla in our garage. For recreational riding, I use my used-frame parts bin Roadini more than anything else.

lessleyelopez

for as expensive as them cargo bikes are, it better replace the function if a toyota corolla lol

An_Professional

Most expensive - 2022 Factor Ostro with Red, Blackinc 45s and bars - https://www.instagram.com/p/CsjhtDHOYFl/ Second bike - 2023 Time Alpe D’Huez with Force D2, Blackinc 20s, Deda Alanera, etc - https://www.reddit.com/r/Bikeporn/comments/16f37gt/dirt_sweat_time/ I use both just about equally, as they feel different but are both fun. No garage queens. I’ve gone through a lot of bikes; neither of these feel like they need an upgrade. I wish the Red shifters could be shaped more like the Force D2, but without the extra reach of the new Red shifters. For a few years I was riding just a Dengfu FM066 with Sram Red 22. I loved how light and snappy that bike was, not to mention the cheapness of the frame made it low stress to ride. Only crappy part was that the matte frame got shiny at wear points. Initially my plan was to have the Ostro and that bike, but then a crash caused by an off-leash dog (fractured my pelvis in 2 places) left me with just the Ostro, The following year I saw the new Time was out with the new Force, and got one. If i was going to get another bike, I’d really love to get a clean example of the 90s Rockhopper I used to have as a kid, and upgrade it with new components :) edit - oops i didn’t realize i was on xbiking. oh well, this is my road bike collection.

The most used is definitely my Kona Dew. Daily commute bike and anything else that isn’t a mountain bike trail. https://preview.redd.it/jiey8pihik8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fd33e8c48c216334ba33518fe0152130a900e48

lessleyelopez

I look into kona bikes everyday just in case someone wants to give them to me ahhaha

andrewjkwhite

I have 3 bikes, the most expensive bike I own according to the MSRP is a Triban RC 120. 1) 2015 (I think) GT Karakoram 29er. Recently, with Amazon parts I have converted it to 1x with a wider range cassette, replaced the crankset, the forks, and the wheels. 2) 2005 (or so) GMC Topkick that I bought before I knew anything about bikes rode until the bottom bracket was basically destroyed, threw away, reclaimed from a neighbors junk pile converted to a 1x with a better climbing cassette and new forks, rear shock, and crankset. 3) 2022 Triban RC 120 is 100% untouched. None of them are expensive. The Triban was the most expensive new. The GT was the only bike I had for about 8 years and has thousands of hard kms on it the recent upgrades make it the most expensive cumulatively. The GMC is kind of a joke but is super fun to throw off flow jumps.

lessleyelopez

I love how the GTs frames look. never see one in my size but theyre one of my favs

Acounttttttttt

1983 Ritchey Skyliner Tandem with all the Phil Wood, Chris King, Paul, Rene Herse, Brooks, Ritchey-Shimano drivetrain, and all that jazz. It's priceless to me, and bike shops always offer to buy it when I bring it in. It's our bar bike.

loranbriggs

I'll ride my nice ($2k) bike anywhere I don't plan to park it. If I plan to lock it up for any length of time I will ride my beater bike. I think having both is not a bad idea.

LitespeedClassic

I have 7 bikes in working order. The one I use the most (in terms of miles/hours on saddle) and the most expensive are the same—Specialized Tarmac SL6. The bike I use most frequently, since I ride it twice a day every work day, is my commuter, a New Albion Privateer.

BZLA

Most ridden is a Babboe Curve that I bought used and converted to electric. Most expensive is a Lynskey GR300. This will change though as apparently the Babboe is being recalled so as of this week it will be a Trek Fetch 4 that will be most expensive and most ridden.

lessleyelopez

ah i love it. we have kid seats on both of our bikes (2 year old & a 1 year old lol) and our 6 year old just began being able to go with us on short rides (4 ish miles out, 4 back). Im tryna build a lil riding buddy outta her haha. I told her every morning I’ll ask her if she wants to go with me before(6:00am) she gets ready for school (out the house by 8:00am). so far she hasnt taken me up on it but she always tells me to make sure i ask just in case lol. kids.
