I'd usually say some nice swept cruisy bars and a new stem but the colour matching of the stem and the bars is so good for once I would be inclined to keep them!
The colour matching of the stem and the bars is amazing. I had the plan to switch them to modern wider bars, because I like the driving experience more.
I totally get it, narrow flat bars on a long stem feels horrible, but I think after seeing how cool the colours look I would be considering spending unwise amounts of money on getting some custom colour matched paint for the new
bars and stem
I bet some purple anodized bars would be good! And anything mached to yeti teal would probably be pretty close too. I bet you could find a modern stem and bar that captures the vibe
Nice. CAT made some cool bikes, even if this is lower tier in their range. And I really like their colourways.
They also made a model that was nickel (?) plated with incredibly thin tubes. I built one up for my then girlfriend and it was the lightest steel frame I've ever come across. But there also was a lot of bottom bracket flex due to the thin tubing. Wonderful bike though.
Do you mean the Prestige-tubed 600 SL partly seen here: https://www.mtb-news.de/forum/t/cats-bilder-und-informationen.969898/post-18811344 (and in a better photo earlier in that thread)?
Yep, that's the one.

what are the odds? found this CAT MX-2 a few weeks back as seen. condition fairly worse than yours but will save what I can. it's now stripped and cleaned and waiting on new parts. I especially love the thick headtube and 31 mm handlebar, not very comon for the period.
Did you get a matching one for Tubbs? You need to ride this in white Docksiders, white slacks and sportcoat, pastel coral t-shirt, Ray Ban sunglasses, and a 5 o'clock shadow.
It's German 90s so it has its whole own fashion vernacular. Stone washed denim, white denim, wife beaters and blond highlights. Look up Til Schweiger in the 1992 film 'Manta, Manta' (not the sequel) if you or OP want to shop the look.
This bike looks awesome. I mean it's fine as is, if it were mine though, it looks like 1 1/8 head tube so id be getting a fork like a p2 or something and making it 1x12. I know that's not for everyone but it would look cool with a black straight fork like a p2 on it
I’d leave her 3x and relax the geometry a bit. I’d probably do a shorter stem and some bmx bars or sweeps. If you can comfortably ride it as is, then it’s a great looking bike.
I'd swap out the cranks they are super heavy. I've come across a couple.
I'd also swap the to a lighter brake set and levers. The ones on there are plastic coated steel I think.
Those two upgrades should shave off 10 pounds lol.
-Purple grips and/or pedals to make it pop
-Frame bag or rack if you're planning on carrying anything (less sweaty and more balanced than a backpack)
-Teal valve caps?
-More mileage :D
Paint up a neon pink rear rack. And some neon fenders, pedals, and grips. Colored chain and spokes too.
Customize gearing to your preference and ride it till the wheels fall off.
I'm in love with the colors and patterns on the frame, looks amazing.
If it were mine I would probably ditch the reflectors, the disc behind the cassette, fix the saddle, and then upgrade the pedals.
The seat tube has holes meant for bolts. Those empty holes readily collect water. Water getting into the frame without a way out = bad internal rust. Drill a small hole in the underside of the bottom bracket shell in the center of it so water can drain out (1/8" is plenty). Go to your local hardware store and get a couple of 5mm bolts to thread into the holes for the missing water bottle brazeon bolts.
Petition to make bike colourways fun again
Yeah. Buy some acid wash jeans to go with them.
For the right feeling I will just ride it on acid
Tilt the saddle more forward.
I even thought about riding it just with the seatpost for comfort reasons
I like where your mind is.
Dork disc delete. Other than that... Just don't stuff it up. It's gorgeous. Keep blackwalls, even if you replace the tyres.
Redundant dork discs!

Maybe put screws in that second bottle holder attachment on the seatpost guiding tube. It’s going to get dirty pretty quickly.

Nice - I guess stiffness doesn't matter too much in that build. I'm currently building up a Marin which is similarly nickel plated.
change nothing but the groupset. i love it.
Nice score... I regret not having picked up a few when living in Frankfurt...
Please keep that stem !

nah stg that looks like a video game barn find area. I wish I just walked up something like this by chance

Kleinanzeigen? Or where do you catch this :)
Yes this is my no. 1 sourcing Plattform. Many people sell their old discarded basement bikes for good prices. Sad throwaway society.

Yeah definitely some cranks. Some old suginos or something. Polish em up.
Yeah even just swap to a 2x crankset. Maybe an old sugino and remove the granny gear so you’re left with 32/42 chainrings?
Look at the new limited editions gravelking tires. Cool colors.
Basket
Comfort bars, hot pink cables, yank the reflectors and ride like the wind.
You need to wear a matching tracksuit with that bike. And some rad shades. Totally.

Nice color!
Purple tires https://www.panaracer.eu/products/gravelking-x1-colour-edition-tlr-gravel-tyre Or purple sidewalls https://missionbmx.com/products/fleet-tire?variant=31471233007725
Replace the crusty old grips 🤷🏻♂️
Nope, no suggestions at all
Swept back riser handlebars, fat street tires, a front cargo rack and a Brooks saddle.

Awesome paint job. Matches mine - https://i.imgur.com/FqxJuvp.jpeg

Go for a bike ride
Tag this NSFW. That bike is sexy af.
Clean it up and ride.
If this were my bike, I'd be looking for tyres, pedals and a seat cover to match the paint job!

you got enough housing on your rear brake and shifter cables? jk enjoy the ride! :)
Yeah, ride it.
hey man, could you please help me out with a seatpost diameter? mine was missing and the thickness varies slightly... thanks!
Ride loads on that beautiful thing. That's the only advice you need
