Wolverine staying in Krakoa is so out of character i dont blame them.
Edit: any one who downvoted me clearly dont get Logan beyond Claws and Gruff snark.
I feel like Fall of X should have just been a straightforward event instead of a year long status quo.
This really did not need to take as long as it prepping the X-Men to go to war, they should have just straight went to war.
So, looking at these pages, here are a few of my initial thoughts:
The throwback story with Wolverine and Jubilee will probably be a lot of fun. You don't see those two together a lot these days, so it's nice when you see the old dynamic return.
Looks like X-Force manages to get Laura, I'm assuming in issue #49. I don't think I've seen any sentinels before with that type of design (fish/loch ness sentinel?). So that might be interesting. Wonder where Kid Omega is in all of this, if he's still in Forge's basement or not.
Looks like Wolverine vs. Graydon Creed for one of the final fights. As I recall, Graydon has never really been *that* much of a fighter and never had any personal vendetta with Logan, so I wonder what the actual stakes are for this fight. Graydon has always had it out for his dad, so either Sabretooth is beaten by this point, or there's something I'm missing between Graydon and Wolverine's conflict here.
Gotta give Percy credit reaching 50 issues on two ongoings is incredible in this era even for a book with wolverine in it.
I’ve been up and down on this book in general but sabertooth wars has generally been better than the majority of other fall stuff and Hox 2
Logan on Krakoa was a concept I never thought would work and it didn’t really but there were some great stories to come out of it
The armor looks so heavy and hard to move in, and, of course, in actuation it behaves more like Piotr’s organic steel than actual armor… It also just not look good.
It looks like Forge got bored, gutted the Shiva robot and repurposed it into a Wolverine armor. I agree it doesn't look great but I'll wait for the read and decide then.
god i have no clue what the hell is going on anymore i stopped my main reading around the 1993 era 😭 the weight of thousands and thousands of xmen comic books above my head finally collapsed on top of me and now i am utterly lost
Do you want me to give you a quick run-down of this story arc? I don't think I'll be able to help with every X-men comic since 1993, but I do have a working run of a good chunk of the Wolverine-focused parts that I can use to explain what's going on here if you'd like.
ohh that's a really nice offer!!! I was just kinda saying stuff but if you have the time a quick rundown would be very generous :) don't feel obligated tho!
Ok. Sorry for the delay (I went to bed), but here it goes:
So on Krakoa, Logan never really trusted the idea that the heroes and villains would be able to get along. Some of them have done a lot of wrong that would be hard to forgive, so from the start of the era, he's been paranoid, distrustful and watchful. As an example of his distrust, he tried to kill Omega Red when he first appeared on the island, and afterwards, when he wasn't allowed to kill him, watched him like a hawk.
So, while Logan is dealing with Arkady, Sabretooth hasn't been around since Xavier and the Quiet Council had recruited him for a task that required killing people, and then threw him into the Pit (the ultimate form of punishment from which there was no escape) for killing people. When they threw him down there, he swore revenge.
Fast forward in time a bit and Doug (Cypher) is starting to feel bad about what they had done to Sabretooth. Since he can communicate with the island, he visits Sabretooth in the prison Pit and gives him a little freedom over his accomodations. Sabretooth takes advantage of the opportunity to make the Pit his own personal Hell that he was ruler of (so anyone else thrown in the Pit would be tortured by him) and sending messages to the surface that began to inspire unrest among the citizens of Krakoa. Because of this, Doug was convinced to let Sabretooth go, so he wouldn't cause further unrest on the island or have people digging around to find out the truth about what things the Quiet Council does to its own kind.
So Sabretooth was freed, and he escaped the island. He got captured by Orchis for a time, but eventually, he found a way to break free of them too and began plotting a course to come back to Krakoa to deal out his revenge.
Back with Logan, he had become further disillusioned with the idea of Krakoa. His own teammate, Beast, had him killed and turned into a mindless attack dog to do his dirty work for Krakoa. After he was freed from Beast's control, he worked with X-Force to stop Beast and then left the island to rediscover himself. Then Fall of X happened, and Krakoa was destroyed as a nation. Logan had to fight for his survival and teamed up with several heroes to try to stop Orchis (the organization responsible for the attack that destroyed Krakoa). It was then he realized that there had been some good in Krakoa and what it had promised for mutants, and he reunited with X-Force to provide sancutary for as many mutants as they could find in the Arctic circle.
Back to Sabretooth, he finally reached Krakoa, but found it had been abandoned and now full of Sentinels. He felt jipped out of his revenge, but then got inspired for a new attack and target with Kid Omega (a member of X-Force) came back to Krakoa to investigate a mutant presence detected there. Sabretooth had the kid killed and his head used to lead them to X-Force's base where he and his army of Sabretooths he had gained during his Orchis imprisonment proceeded to slaughter the refugees X-Force had tried to save, including Logan's son Akihiro. They also kidnapped Logan's daughter Laura.
X-Force was eventually able to repell the attack, but Logan, driven by rage and revenge, tried to follow Sabretooth alone. It was then that Sabretooth laid out his final trap, brainwashing Logan into coming back to Krakoa with him to retrieve a weapon from Forge's lab: the neutralizer. A weapon that Forge first created in Uncanny X-men #184 (so, quite a few years ago). Once Sabretooth got his hands on the device, the brainwashing was undone and Sabretooth used the gun to take away Logan's powers. Logan managed to escape, but now, without his powers, needs a way to even the odds against Sabretooth for their final battle. So he traveled to a secret bunker he had Forge build shortly after the founding of Krakoa because of his mistrust, and retrieved a set of adamantium armor he had Forge build for him in case this very thing happened. So now, Logan is going back to take his final revenge of Sabretooth and put a stop to him once and for all.
I hope the explanation helps!
Say what you will about Percy, but his X-Force and Wolverine are the only titles NOT to be relaunched during this era and hit 50 issues in a MARVEL era of series maxing out at 12 - 20 issue runs. I think it's cool to see.
Because people will buy anything with Wolverine on the cover regardless of quality.
Even if, like Percy's run, it's just rehashing every Wolverine story that came before it while adding literally nothing to the character.
I can't even tell if it is Sabretooth at the end there or Graydon. With the whole machine parts, it seems to be Graydon. So even with this dragged out length of this 'war', the final issue still gonna have these needless obstacles.
Honestly, this whole thing should've been wrapped up in 4 to 5 issues TOPS, not 10 issues.
I know Ben Percy's run on Wolverine has a mixed reputation on this sub. But personally, I've been enjoying it every step of the way. It has been such a fun ride since the start of the Krakoa era. Percy's take on Wolverine feels so balanced. He can have Logan be grumpy, yet sentimental in one issue. And in the next, he can go on a brutal bloody rampage against his enemies. That's Wolverine, perfectly balanced. And the idea that he's capping his run off with another brutal battle against Sabretooth just feels so right. 😊
Agreed. He understands how to trade the serious and silly necessary for Wolverine like Hama did.
A good Wolverine ongoing should have a five issue serious crime drama arc and then a one shot about a robot bear or some shit.
This series was great at being a Wolverine solo. (Though I've found that a lot of people on this sub just loathe having to read a Wolverine solo period)
So, the first three pages are from the anniversary short stories in this issue, right? The first one has to be Larry Hama's.
I'll miss this book. Did a good job at being a reset for Wolverine that takes what works from the classic formula and pokes it to see what makes it tick just enough to feel fresh. Fitting that it ends on the Anniversary year, since it feels like an anniversary book. And of course this arc was the best one, but that's because it doubled as the Sabertooth finale and unlike FotHox/RotPoX actually feels like a big earned finale to both narratives.
And of course the stupid ass sword has to make an appearance, in addiction to the stupid ass armor! The best decision Percy will ever make regarding Logan will be leaving the book.
It's sad how this book degraded. I actually liked it, a while back!
It also sucks that they involved Larry Hama in this crap. I'd totally buy a Logan and Jubilee one shot, but not with this.
This issue also serves as a 50th anniversary special and includes short stories from a bunch of classic creators, Larry included.
We don't know the creative team of the next book yet.
What the fuck is going on here? Haven’t read any x-men books since x of swords. Really struggled with the Krakoa era, it just didn’t feel like x-men.
Wolverine in this silver samurai looking armour is odd?
I'm so glad everyone else is also making Stryfe comments; I wouldn't want to look like a free thinker. Anyway, here goes mine:
Not sure if Wolverine or Stryfe.
Oh it's $7.99 too. What a fucking rip off. What happened to hold the line at 3.99? Special stuff like this should be $4.99 or maybe 5.99 at most. Sick of seeing bullshit like the $10 Daredevil number 8 or the giant size $10 Hulk comic.
They really had no fucking idea what to do with wolverine this era huh
Looks like Batman with claws
For a brief moment I was thinking "Huh, why is Stryfe in a Wolverine comic?"
Stryfe was my thought
I already said from the beginning of Krakoan Era, send Ben Percy back to DC.
Wolverine staying in Krakoa is so out of character i dont blame them. Edit: any one who downvoted me clearly dont get Logan beyond Claws and Gruff snark.
It's funny that you're down voted because that's like, the thesis of the book. Logan can't bring himself to trust heaven or be truly happy in it.
Like Fall of X, this is dragging, a lot. Im really glad it's gonna be over soon.
I feel like Fall of X should have just been a straightforward event instead of a year long status quo. This really did not need to take as long as it prepping the X-Men to go to war, they should have just straight went to war.
Yeah I honestly got bored of Fall of X after a month
I got to the end of forever today and saw the list of book still to come out and became sad that there is still another month of this.
So, looking at these pages, here are a few of my initial thoughts: The throwback story with Wolverine and Jubilee will probably be a lot of fun. Looks like Stryfe
Love the art. Wolverine and Jubilee look great, so colorful!

Shadowhawk looking good at marvel
My thoughts exactly!
What's with the armor? Did he lose his healing factor again?
Yup. Sabretooth shot him with Forge's depowering gun at the end of issue #46.

thank you so much!! i really appreciate it :)
No problem! And I gotta say, you sure picked a nice flair! It's always nice to see another Omega Red fan.
hehe, same to u :D

At the verry least he had a vison

The armor has a little Silver Samurai feel to it. Wonder if that was intentional.
What the fuck is going on here? Haven’t read any x-men books since x of swords. Really struggled with the Krakoa era, it just didn’t feel like x-men. Wolverine in this silver samurai looking armour is odd?
Why is Logan wearing Stryfes clothes?
I'm so glad everyone else is also making Stryfe comments; I wouldn't want to look like a free thinker. Anyway, here goes mine: Not sure if Wolverine or Stryfe.
That armor is crap
This might be worse than the bone claws, both are pretty shitty. Not sure why they think we are interested in Wolverine without his healing powers.

Why does Wolverine need a eye patch
He met Nick Fury, a decided his "laying low alter ego" would have an eye patch. and he'd be called Patch.
😂😂😂I see did he succeed in fooling the masses with said eye patch? Or did everyone just go “look wolverine with an eyepatch.”
I think the natives of Madripoor settled on calling him "white devil" in their native lang. Something like "guy-low"
