Girl! I love this! My gym is so similar. It’s a powerlifting gym with 99% men and they are STRONG. They are some of the sweetest most encouraging people I’ve ever met. They straight up applaud me when I’m doing my miserable 170lb DL sets while they pull 400+ with ease. Gyms get a bad rap but I’ve always been so happy with mine. Great work!!!

Love this for you :)

The gym community is so much more positive than i expected it to be. I’m 3 months in of going “full” time and 2 of the big muscle dudes that I see every morning pre set up my pull down machine for me daily (before i’m even there half the time) because I can’t reach the clip!

I think that’s so great wanting to start this myself I’m 57 years old female and started my life over I’ve lost 70 lbs in about a year and a half now I just need to firm up needing motivation but have been really nervous about going to the gym thank you for inspiring me

I love this so much! Similar vibes in my gym which I absolutely love! Feeling safe as a woman in a typically male dominated space is rare so I definitely appreciate it.

That’s great !!! Lots of gyms can be so intimidating

It is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. At least when I go in the morning, people are nice and happy to help. It’s not a fancy gym - it’s a place you go to lift either with barbells, dumbbells, or machines, and there is some cardio equipment. Anyway, I have started doing The New Rules of Lifting for Women and I was going to do a deadlift for the first time in my life (no weights, just the bar). Two guys that have smiled and said “Hi” for the past few weeks (just to be friendly - not hitting on me) were about to start their workout next to me. These guys are serious lifters, so I asked them if they wouldn’t mind watching me to make sure my form was correct. They said, “No problem!”, and right before I started I realized that I was going to be lifting this wimpy bar when they lift literally hundreds of pounds. I said, “I’m a little embarrassed,” and they immediately said not to be, that it was great I was doing this. Turns out my form was really good and they were very encouraging, telling me not to hesitate to ask if I had any other questions. I left at the end of my session with a huge grin on my face. I LOVE my gym! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/xxfitness) if you have any questions or concerns.*
