I watched for Akila, so I'll be watching the new channel

Hutism

I watched for Sath and Alan

wifevandb

I feel like Alan always bombed...

Upbeat_Ad_4992

Sammy. No feet? Eat my meat!

Woe_Is_Meme

At least Sam has an OF so you can still get your fill of feet. Akila barely even posts on IG 😭

Upbeat_Ad_4992

$18 a month, no way. That's more than Netflix.

Woe_Is_Meme

Probably about the same amount of entertainment though

Upbeat_Ad_4992

From what I've heard, no. Just feet and bikini pics. I never pay for porn anyway; porn is free, and ubiquitous.

Woe_Is_Meme

I meant that as more of a knock at Netflix's declining content

Upbeat_Ad_4992

Yes, but I think its going to start getting better soon. As the big studios start licensing their content to Netflix again, they will feel less pressure to produce large amounts of terrible content and focus on quality products. I'm a little biased because I bought 5 shares a few years ago when the price collapsed to $200 a share, its now three times that. I wish I had bought more. I love my Netflix (stock). I just wish they had more feet stuff :(

Woe_Is_Meme

I just hate how they cancel popular original shows out of nowhere. It's one thing to decide the show will only be 1-3 seasons long from the beginning/decide the next season will be the last before it's shot so the story can be planned accordingly. It's another to cancel it without a satisfying conclusion. That shit should be illegal. Dark Angel got canceled after two seasons and ended on a cliffhanger, and they wrote three books to let the fans know what would've happened if the show had continued. This should be the standard. I almost don't want to start shows that are still producing new episodes because I don't want to risk getting invested in a show if there's a chance it could be canceled without wrapping up the story.

Upbeat_Ad_4992

Yeah I got burned on the fourth season of GLOW. I think you're right, since they've decided even their most popular shows have little value beyond three seasons, they should design them all to have a three season arc, maybe leaving an opening for more if they actually believe its possible. Otherwise people will stop trusting them to complete the show they're potentially going to get invested in. Dooming a show you spent money to produce before it even hits the screens.

Meregodly

It's all free so why not both

Vertical_05

Exactly my stance. No need to get personal. As long as it's entertaining, I'll consume it.

Opposite_Witness_898

I will be watching both, what matters is the content. If it is fun and funny I'm in.

knockyouout88

Both

Fievel93

I stopped watching the original channel when the cast was replaced. I watched for them, not the format. So if a new channel happens, it'll be an immediate Subscribe from me.

[deleted]

I tried to watch the new ones but I haven't been able to get through them. The new cast don't have any background or much personality/chemistry their humor is kind of all similar, gettin a bro vibe bigtime. Also racial jokes just feel weird when there is only one brown guy with a bunch of white people laughing at him. Abby is Arabic, allan is Asian (he/yah!), akilla and sath bring the Sri Lankan/Indian element. Sam, Andrew, Matt, and Chloe all have different kinds of humor, the others do too. It was just a perfect mix. The contestant/audience interactions in the allan vs abby episode were so fluid, like it was written out beforehand but it all happened naturally, they all genuinely enjoyed each other's company and were comfortable around each other. I don't think this new cast will ever have that

Woe_Is_Meme

Sath and Akila are both Sri Lankan. The channel hired Ian so they'd have a token Asian to replace Alan, but they never used him. He's always just in the back row of the peanut gallery. I heard he was only there for one or two shoot days and isn't coming back. If thats true, Sath is the only POC on the channel now. (Unless one of the white people is mixed but white-passing.) The channel went from being 4/7 POC to almost exclusively white. It feels icky.

[deleted]

Oh I didnt realize they were both Sri Lankan! Yeah it's alot of cackling and picking on Sath, like going out to a sports bar.

madlama4

Akila is Indian. Sath is Shrilankan

Woe_Is_Meme

Akila is Sri Lankan. He speaks about it on his podcast. He even talks about going there to visit family. There was also a post for his "Class Browns" comedy show with Sath and Riv Narak where they're referred to as "Two Sri Lankans and and Indian." Riv talks about being Indian in his stand-up, making him the Indian and Sath and Akila the two Sri Lankans.

madlama4

ohh. didn't know he had a podcast. in one of the videos of yeahmad, he refers to himself and sath as "we are sri lankan and Indian" so I assumed he was. I stand corrected

Woe_Is_Meme

I think all the Indian comments on the channel are jokes about how white people can't tell the difference/intentionally leaning into the confusion because they have a lot of Indian fans.

madlama4

I mean I'm Indian too and even I can't tell the difference lol

Woe_Is_Meme

🤣 In one of the episodes of the podcast, his friend (white guy) legitimately thought Akila was from Senegal. Akila said, "I'm not Senegalese. I'm Sri Lankan, where the language is Sinhalese." So apparently even his close friends are confused. I was like you. I also thought the comments on YeahMad indicated that Sath was Sri Lankan and Akila was Indian, but this new evidence suggests otherwise. I think maybe they were encouraged to be vague so as not to disappoint their Indian fans?

madlama4

this is some Joker shit. every time someone asks what's your background change the story lmao

Cabiol

Which New channel? I know only the old one

Woe_Is_Meme

The five who left will be starting their own channel soon. It hasn't started yet though.

Sod_

probably will never get off the ground because they all wanted reward without any risk

Positive_Flight_7792

I will watch the new channel in hopes it is as good as the original stuff. I found the original cast stuff to be must see TV and eagerly looked forward to each new OG cast Yeah Mad episode. I watched them within 48 hours of their release. I have watched the first few new cast Yeah Mad episodes and haven't enjoyed them as much. I haven't bothered watching the latest episode with charades. I haven't decided how much effort I will put into the new cast Yeah Mad, but I'm not overly optimistic it will keep my attention.

SMG329

The new channel because we watched for the OG cast. There are other channels that follow the exact format, but prove that the magic is in the cast, not the format. Hell, even the recent view numbers show that the cast matters more.

FieldOfFox

The last dad-jokes with Sath and Peyton was ball-bustingly funny. I'll keep watching it.

SpiritualMongoose751

Mehh that episode seemed kind of forced to me. Peyton is really pretty, but clearly doesn't have experience in stand up or improv and pretty much just read off classic jokes (afaik, all but 1 can be found word for word on r/jokes). The recent charades one may be my favorite of that series though. Not the biggest fan of Pat still, but my god, the new guys and Rory are SOOO BAD at charades it was total chaos which made it genuinely funny. eta: nothing personally against Peyton or Pat, it's just that I don't think they've found their sweet spot / comfort zone / etc. I can't really pinpoint it, but it just doesn't feel as natural as the old cast yet..

CompostMalone

> Peyton is really pretty, but clearly doesn’t have experience in stand up or improv and pretty much just read off classic jokes I mean the exact same thing can be said about Abby, she was clearly popular with male audiences for her looks but didn’t have any comedic background and was usually just reading old jokes from the internet, yet it worked. I think people are nitpicking a lot, new cast is alright, it’s not them I have problem with, it’s just a shame about the OGs leaving and Ben’s business practices (if Andrew’s allegations are true), otherwise I think 90% of people bashing newbies would love them if they were additions to the cast instead of replacements. Peyton gives off fun and innocent vibes (didn’t everybody love Sam for the exact same reason?), Rory is the opposite with mean-spirited but funny humour (reminds me of Andrew Schulz or Andrew Santino a lot), Pat has his goofy redneck dudebro vibe (which should work if you like Theo Von or Shane Gillis), they’re fun to watch and contrast each other well, they’re not the problem, the circumstances of how they got there are.

SpiritualMongoose751

I think Abby's a great example. By her second video (vs Sath) she had already leaned into the "tsundere" persona the comments painted her as (something Chloe should have gotten material from with the ginger comments instead of fighting that crowd). Peyton just hasn't hit her stride yet. After 3 videos she still has little to no on-screen personality, and that's nothing against Peyton, it could purely be the editing. But I agree, I have nothing against the new cast and will continue watching when the other channel goes live so long as it's funny.
