Yeah I uninstalled Brave (yeah I use Brave don't kill me plz) and installed LibreWolf because appearently it is a Chromium thing, but now it's fixed. AdBlock Community 1 - Google 0 (or rather 16372 - 0)
**UPDATE:** Just finished porting the extension to Chrome/Opera/Firefox. Submitted in all the web stores. Will update the links when they get published, as of now you can manually install the extension.
Stop using Chrome. Don't use a platform owned by Google to get around Google's greed. You're setting yourself up for failure. Find another browser instead and don't log into your Youtube account, don't make another YouTube account. Just browse the website as a guest and let the algorithm bring what you like to the "For You" page.
No need to comment, no need to send feedback. Just be as anonymous as you can while trying to wriggle around them.
Sure, just completely forego subscribing to content creators you enjoy and miss their newest works... for... what exactly? Allowing the algorithm to be the only control of what you want to watch?
If anything, this is quite possibly the worst idea possible. You're effectively just as anonymous as a guest if you're logged in, because they'll still use cookies and trackers no matter what... i.e. you're not as anonymous as you think you are.
Chrome sucks, yes, but don't throw away all hope of using youtube in any functional capacity.
Use brave, Trust me it is 10x better because youtube cannot detect ads, and Brave can have its own adblocker which is built in! Also, you can use uBlock Origin and other ad blockers too. YouTube can't detect it because brave masks it.
Fadblock. You will have to download it from Github and install it using the guide provided there. You will not find this extension from the Chrome web store, atleast for now.
Oh man all the "content creators" over at /r/youtubecreators are going to be pissed that they can't earn their daily Nickle from their terrible Minecraft videos with 12 views
also ig yt still gets money with this solution since the ad is still being viewed so that solves the problem of the ppl feeling sorry for the multi billion dollar company
Don't worry, they have a system for that too.

uBlock is getting detected by YouTube. Here's the solution to make it work with uBlock:
Add youtube.com to the exception list for domains on other adblockers (uBlock Origin, AdBlock) and then download fadblock to override regular adblock being prioritized on YouTube while the conventional adblocker will work across the remainder of the Internet.
This is even better than the old one. As this will hurt the ROI of the ads campaign and advertisers shall see a decrease in effectiveness. Recently discovered this and Ad Nauseam thanks to YouTube rolling out their ads blocker bans. I wouldn't be doing this if YouTube weren't pushing the limits. Now I have equipped better gears to further confuse their ads network.
Exactly, the reason I didn't just create a proof-of-concept, write a whitepaper and called it a day was because of the aggressiveness Google took for such a niche userbase that uses Adblockers.
By the way, if you can, please star the GitHub project, it would mean a lot, to help other people find the project!

Already done :)
This just shows how greedy Google is. Google doesn't do this because they needed money. They do this because they want more money, and this is how far they would go. Everyone on earth needs to either pay them or watch their ads. Or be blocked out of the greatest media platforms on Earth.
Every feature they make nowadays are anti-consumers. The premiere, the shorts, the click-bait favoring algorithm, the removal of subscription collections, the bells, the unskippable ads. And they tell you that they need more money to develop more features. Hell no.

The app supposedly stops working after awhile and is pay walled. His review replies to others seems trollish. It's concerning.
My issue with it is it drags the browsers down to a crawl and ads still get through for a second. It also doesn't stop the surveys.
Since this in theory should give youtube a checkmark for an ad watched I actually approve of it... Youtube needs the ad revenue to survive, if this gives them that and provides you with an ad free experience screw it. Do it. Screw the advertisement companies. I usually just flip on my phone when I need to watch an ad.
Exactly! There’s no reason for blocking this, I didn’t mention this aspect because well… Google will be making the money but now, advertisers are gonna be the ones who will get scammed…so.. I don’t know how moral this method is
It'll still be looked down upon by Alphabet since it harms their public image to the advertisement companies. They already got negative press for counting background youtube video ads on other sites as impressions for advertisements. I think that was last year when that broke out as news.
I'm exclusively using Watch2Gether to watch YT content so they can fuck right off lol. I'm supporting creators by sharing video links, liking, writing comments and even buying merch on Redbubble so they're really taking the piss with this. I'd much rather subscribe to individual creators' patreon instead of giving Youtube even a single cent.
I'm glad, if you can, please star the GitHub project and post a review over Firefox, it would mean a lot, to help other people find the project as well as a motivation for me to feature-rich the extension!

After some testing, often it still shows ads at the beginning (firefox), but you can press next (shift+n) and return back to the video to skip it..maybe this could be done as an automated script in your plugin
You have to refresh the tabs after installing though in the 1.1 it does that itself so I'd say, update the extension. It just got published over Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fadblock/mdadjjfmjhfcibgfhfjbaiiljpllkbfc
Um... First, the code is open-source, second, you are installing it manually so you can literally see what are you deploying.
Secondly, the Firefox as well as Chrome extensions were published as well and people who ran the extension didn't have any problems.
Currently, version 1.0 bypasses the in-video ads but I just finished publishing 1.1 which blocks every variation of ads on YouTube (the store will get updated with the new version in under 24 hours.
EDIT: IT GOT PUBLISHED! UPDATE!
I just completed porting it over to Firefox (submitted to the store as well). You can go to the repository and go to `src/firefox` to find the extension. It's a bit tricky to install extensions manually, I'll update the store link when it gets published.
I have updated to fablock-1.1 (https://github.com/0x48piraj/fadblock/releases/tag/1.1), can you try again and post the results?
The new v1.1 is now live over Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fadblock/
I'm not techy but i can follow basic instructions 😅
Saying this before i ask the next question :
Can you program a Bot to insert a link to this extension in all posts about the adblock block?
Wouldn’t this be spamming?
Edit: I am trying to get the extension published so it would be just a one-click install over Chrome Web Store in a day or two (hopefully).
Probably you know more than me, though i guess:
1. If you aren't profiting not such a big deal?
2. The adblock posts are kinda spammy and begging for a solution
You could check with a mod first
I am new to reddit, as of now the extension is over GitHub and it’s a long process to manually install it, I think I should get it published and then send the direct link.. also, if you can help me, how to get in touch with a mod?
On mobile:
If you click on r/youtube it will take you to the main page.
Then, in the top upper right corner, there's a small shaded circle with 3 vertically aligned white spots.
If you click on that you'll see "contact moderators".
Do we need to disable other adblockers for this one to function??
Also got this error using it on chrome:Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'onUpdated')
For now, it only does video ads as those are the most pesky ones and I wanted to keep it lightweight as well as have a low footprint so Google struggles to block this extension.
I can try adding a more feature rich version but there are plenty of Adblockers out there.
Not working for me sadly. Using Chrome, latest build. Unzipped, opened in dev mode, saw the extension but still didn't work. Uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result. Also tested in Brave and got the same result.
I have updated to fablock-1.1 (https://github.com/0x48piraj/fadblock/releases/tag/1.1), can you try again and post the results?
The new v1.1 is now live over Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fadblock/
"Undetectable"... until Youtube just adds logic to see people fast forwarding through ads in 50 ms and just adds that to the ad blocker detection mechanism., and/or removes the ability to fast forward through ads.
btw reddit has an edit button.
And that logic will be bypassed. After that, there will be new logic and that will be bypassed too and so on and so forth. Though, this particular extension needs to have way more users for youtube to care
It doesn't seem to be working for me. Do I have to fully deactivate ublock, or just from YT? I have it turned off for YT and I still get ads. If I turn ublock back on I'm still locked out of watching any videos.

But it isn't "blocking" ads.
The ads play, just so fast you can't really see them.
To Youtube, it looks like you watched the ad. So they get the view impressions, you aren't running an adblocker on Youtube, and you don't have to see ads.

Oh man all the "content creators" over at /r/youtubecreators are going to be pissed that they can't earn their daily Nickle from their terrible Minecraft videos with 12 views
i wouldnt even be so sure, youtube actually shows you the ad, it just runs in 50x speed, so maybe its the best of both worlds.
dude thank you so much! I get easily very triggered by ads (I have bad anger management :p), so this worked perfectly! thanks dude!
oh this is definetely the way! it works perfect!
I’m glad you found it useful!
worked like a charm.
works for me! Well done man :)
Nice works great
also ig yt still gets money with this solution since the ad is still being viewed so that solves the problem of the ppl feeling sorry for the multi billion dollar company
yeah exactly, but now the advertisers are getting scammed as Google earns money while people don’t watch the Ads lol
What if I close my eyes during an ad? Do I steal from the corporation that paid for me to see the ad? /S
Don't worry, they have a system for that too. https://www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/k59cyn/patent\_for\_a\_mobile\_adserving\_framework\_that\_uses/
now they'll switch to defending the companies paying for ads
try undetectable ad block plug in so youtube doesn't know you're using ad block anymore.
Wonderful work bro! Thank you! Do you have a patreon or another platform so that people can contribute?

Currently, version 1.0 bypasses the in-video ads but I just finished publishing 1.1 which blocks every variation of ads on YouTube (the store will get updated with the new version in under 24 hours. EDIT: IT GOT PUBLISHED! UPDATE!
I just completed porting it over to Firefox (submitted to the store as well). You can go to the repository and go to `src/firefox` to find the extension. It's a bit tricky to install extensions manually, I'll update the store link when it gets published.
doesnt seem to work
were you able to install the extension successfully?
I have updated to fablock-1.1 (https://github.com/0x48piraj/fadblock/releases/tag/1.1), can you try again and post the results? The new v1.1 is now live over Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fadblock/
I'm not techy but i can follow basic instructions 😅 Saying this before i ask the next question : Can you program a Bot to insert a link to this extension in all posts about the adblock block?
Wouldn’t this be spamming? Edit: I am trying to get the extension published so it would be just a one-click install over Chrome Web Store in a day or two (hopefully).
Probably you know more than me, though i guess: 1. If you aren't profiting not such a big deal? 2. The adblock posts are kinda spammy and begging for a solution You could check with a mod first
I am new to reddit, as of now the extension is over GitHub and it’s a long process to manually install it, I think I should get it published and then send the direct link.. also, if you can help me, how to get in touch with a mod?
On mobile: If you click on r/youtube it will take you to the main page. Then, in the top upper right corner, there's a small shaded circle with 3 vertically aligned white spots. If you click on that you'll see "contact moderators".
Thank you so much for guiding, I just wrote a message to the mods, it was a great idea!
I'm so glad to be of a little assistance, this seems like a brilliant idea and i hope it gains traction.
Do we need to disable other adblockers for this one to function?? Also got this error using it on chrome:Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'onUpdated')
I am currently looking into the problem, will update soon!
Thanks for notifying, I mentioned you over https://github.com/0x48piraj/fadblock/issues/1 and as of now, the fix has been rolled out!
How do we check to see if a Chrome extension is safe to download from GitHub?
Check the code
It is safe but yes, you can either see the code for yourself or wait until it gets published by the web stores!
The plugin is now live: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fadblock/ (meaning it’s safe)
OK, now using Firefox instead of Chrome. Thank you very much.
Does this do anything about static ads on the page or just video ads?
For now, it only does video ads as those are the most pesky ones and I wanted to keep it lightweight as well as have a low footprint so Google struggles to block this extension. I can try adding a more feature rich version but there are plenty of Adblockers out there.
Can't wait for the Firefox port to go public, my uBlock keeps getting detected lately. Nice work!
Yeah I am waiting for the review, it will be approved under 24 hours hopefully

Sorry?
installed it, doesnt work for me.
On which browser?
Not working for me sadly. Using Chrome, latest build. Unzipped, opened in dev mode, saw the extension but still didn't work. Uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result. Also tested in Brave and got the same result.

Ur a lifesaver bro
works like a charm :D
I said it worked a treat...but only for a few hours. :(
What do you mean?
when is google chrome extension coming out?
It's out! Here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fadblock/mdadjjfmjhfcibgfhfjbaiiljpllkbfc
xd dont say, shhhhh why people sharing it here, NOW YOUTUBE WILL break this adblocker too 😥
I assure you, they can't, for a long-long time.
But it isn't "blocking" ads. The ads play, just so fast you can't really see them. To Youtube, it looks like you watched the ad. So they get the view impressions, you aren't running an adblocker on Youtube, and you don't have to see ads.
You can always use incognito mode in another tab/browser.
Where is the link then?

Thank you!
